Overview

About the property

Pool table, hot tub, sleeps 12 w/4 BR/3BA. Close as you get to Park, Cades Cove

Take a moment and let me share with you the uniqueness of the lovely 'Genesis'. This authentic log cabin/chalet boasts three stories, over 2000 square feet, and overlooks the rushing Little River, aWeSome!
Step through the front door and your attention is immediately drawn to the high cathedral ceilings, allowing you to enjoy the warm woodlands outside the two and a half stories of windows. Spacious seating arrangements are here, and all of the Broyhill seats will recline for your comfort! The 60' big screen TV is a hit with cable/DVD/VCR and a bit of X-Box fishing. To complete the coziness is an Englander wood stove, champagne-colored ceramic tile, ceiling fans, and main conversation piece is the hand-hewn staircase, cut from locally fallen timbers.
Step outside to the screened balcony and awe at the majestic Smokey Mountain backdrop against the serene blue sky. And you just may see the hazy 'smoke' of clouds boiling your way, which gives those beautiful mountains their name. Breathtaking!

Three or four bedrooms plus sleep loft plus 3 baths. Upstairs is a full bath, two bedrooms each with a queen bed and full futon, and an open sleep loft area with full bunk on bottom and single on top. Include the king bed on the main level and the bunk in the game room and you have total sleeping arrangements for 13. Comfortable for 9, real cozy for the full 13!

Speaking of game room, it sports a regulation oak, Georgetown slate billiard table for your entertainment! Although we have plenty, you may wanna bring your 'prized' cue stick and strut your stuff. Down here is another TV, dart board and darts, and an exercise bike to stay in shape while on your vacation : )

Outdoor fun...: For your pleasure, 'Genesis' has an outdoor fire pit for sharing conversation, roasting marshmallows or hot dogs, warming up on a cool winter's night, etc. A favorite place to be.

Area activities galore... You're only 18 miles from Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, Gatlinburg, Ober Gatlinburg and skiing, music theaters, outlet malls, and activities of all sorts. Historic Cades Cove is only 7 miles away, where you'll have to slow down and let the dear pass! Bordering on the Great Smokey Mountain National Park boundary line, nature truly abounds. With a four mile river running through it, tubing is the biggest pastime in Townsend during the hot, sweltering months...looks like a polka dotted river with all the tubers! Newly opened Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center is only a mile away! Ask me for free tickets : ) Why not check out spelunking or geocaching while in our area... there's some mighty fine, unique little treasures to be found in this cozy town!

Peaceful Getaway

 • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay in Genesis! The cabin was beautiful and the location was quiet and secluded. We had a group of 11 and had more than enough room for everyone. The cabin was stocked with everything you could possibly need while on vacation. We really enjoyed the hot tub that overlooked the river! I have stayed at plenty of vacation rentals in the past and this is by far one of my favorites. Thank you so much Billie for all your help and for sharing your wonderful cabin!

Mountain Christmas

 • 5 of 5

Genesis had plenty of room for our family of 12 from Alabama and Maryland. The cabin was well equipped and very peaceful. The river right behind was a huge plus. Close to Cades cove and not a bad drive to Pigeon Forge, Maryville, and Gatlinburg. Loved the location and ease of finding the cabin. Billie even added a Christmas tree and some lights out front which made for a great back drop for photos. Thanks Billie for a great trip.

Breathtaking!

 • 5 of 5

Genesis is a beautiful, spacious house with everything a family needs when on vacation. The bedrooms and bathrooms suited our needs perfectly. There was only room for one person in the kitchen at a time, but it had all of the appliances and dozens of sets of plates, bowls, glasses and silverware a family could need. The pool table and game consoles downstairs were great activities for the teenagers (and some adults!). The hot tub was refreshing after a long day of fun. We also had a nice fire in the fire pit and toasted marshmallows for S'mores. The driveway was a bit tricky at first, but once we figured it out we had no trouble at all fitting 3 vehicles in it. We would love to go back there again as the area is breathtakingly beautiful and there is so much to do! We will definitely rent Genesis again!

Beautifully decorated peaceful cabin

 • 5 of 5

Billie's cabin was very clean upon our arrival. It is beautifully decorated and located on a quiet peaceful road. There were plenty of towels, sheets, dishes, cookware, etc. There were 11 of us and we had plenty of room. I would recommend to anyone!

Vacationers Beware!

 • 1 of 5

We were VERY disappointed with this property. Smelly vacuum cleaners in master closet made the whole bedroom stink the whole time we were there even after we moved them to another room. The whole downstairs/pool table area was unusable due to a very bad mildew stench. Even with the downstairs door closed the stench came up into the living room. There were hundreds of bees dying in the laundry room. We felt this house was not accurately advertised. Wifi did not work properly. You could barely see or hear the river from the house. Broken floor tile in Master. Just generally not clean and maintained well for the price. When we tried reaching the owner about the bees and wifi she was unable to reach by phone or email for more than a day. This house was a disappointment. She refunded us $100 since we were unable to use the downstairs.

Owner's Response: Susan ... again I sincerely apologize that your stay was not as 'fresh' as it could have been. As I mentioned while pleading with you not to post a negative review, we had and untimely death and subsequent hospitalization in the family a few months prior to your arrival, and things simply weren't monitored for a short while as they should have been, sorry. You and our wonderful future guests can rest assured that I have personally attended to each and every issue mentioned above. Well, except for the beautiful Little River which is still flowing approximately 150' from the cabin. It can still be seen, albeit through the huge hemlocks and hardwoods and to listen to it is absolutely wonderful. I already have an offer from a couple of guys to go down there when the temps cool off this winter and trim some of the lower limbs ... not the trees though, they're magnificent. That will re-open that picture-frame view of the river from any of the numerous balconies at 'Genesis'. Oh, and while bringing her back up to par, we decided to dip her in a coat of honey. Well actually just cleaning and resealing the white-pine logs, but she's never looked better. One more thing, I'm responding to this from Wi-Fi at this lovely chalet ... no problem there! Thanks and have a great day! Billie
