We had to stay here due to Hurricane Irma hitting our home state of Florida, the owner was so nice and generous and worked with us on the schedule (last minute booking and extending the stay due to no power at home and roads being blocked). The house is beautiful, sits right on the lake, fully stocked with all the comforts of a home. The kids loved the arcade area and the adults loved the spa! It was the best evacuation spot ever!
Our BEST vacation ever!
Wonderful home...loved so much about it: plenty of room for our 15 member family, seven (7) king beds, 16 chairs for dining, modern TV's with recording capabilities, a kitchen my wife would die for, great water for our skiers, and immediate support when needed. Steve (owner) and Ted (on site assistant) were there when needed. Thanks guys; we will be back.
Even More Perfect than the Pictures!
Everything about this house was absolutely perfect for our family of 13 visiting on vacation. We are ages 4 - 84 and it could not have been a better experience for any of us! My whole family had a wonderful time. My Dad was not feeling well for most of our vacation, as he was diagnosed with bronchitis and a low-functioning kidney just two days before our trip, so he spent most of our 6 days there resting in a chair near the fireplace. I think that was just what the doctor ordered though, because he was feeling really great yesterday when it was time to drive home. He loved the scenery and looking out over the lake at the various boats that came around to fish.
We did all of our cooking in the downstairs kitchen - what a great setup! It was perfect for our large meals as they had everything anyone could ask for in terms of mixing bowls, measuring cups, pots and pans, and plenty of room for all the cooks in the kitchen. In this case, there were never too many!
All the extras in the house just made our stay even more special. The kids and adults enjoyed playing the arcade games, we loved the hot tub, almost everyone took a turn on the paddle boat, and with the two large dining room tables we had plenty of room to play games every night.
I also want to mention working with the owner, Steve, was fantastic. He was out of town when we arrived, but his neighbor, Ted, met us and showed us around the house. The only thing we needed during our stay was an ax, as we wanted to build a bonfire and roast marshmallows on one of the freezing nights and didn't have one to split the large pile of wood that was there for us. Ted got us one immediately with no waiting. These two have it together!
All in all this was a fantastic vacation for us at the most beautiful house we've ever rented (and we've rented quite a few for our annual vacation). I highly recommend Hartnell Manor to anyone looking to pamper and spoil yourself and your guests with high-quality luxury in a peaceful, scenic location.
This was a wonderful place to stay for many reasons. The home was beautifully decorated for Christmas and every detail seemed to be thought of! Both kitchens were fully equipped, and even more importantly they had great knives, which is rare to find in a rental. Each room was spacious and there were plenty of bathrooms. The lake view was perfect and we were able to use the paddle boat and row boat with ease. Since the kitchen and living room are open concept it was a great gathering place fort the group. Additionally, there is a sono sound system that plays throughout the house, but you can turn down the sound in certain rooms if you prefer. It provided the perfect soundtrack to our weekend. The was warming up when we arrived and was nice and hot by the time we got in. Arcade games in the loft were a fun addition to the home. Be aware that there is no separate hallway to get to the top floor bedrooms, so you will have to walk through either of the loft areas to get to that floor. Whoever stays in a loft area can't be too picky about privacy, although the big screen tvs in the lofts should appease them. We went on a short group hike at Lake Hartwell State Park, which was only 15 minutes away despite actually being in South Carolina. Steve and his neighbor Tim were both helpful and made the trip go smoothly. This home exceeded my expectations with it's beauty and all of the thoughtful details.
Family Thanksgiving 2016
We had a wonderful time again at the Hartwell Manor! The place is beautiful and can accommodate large families. We had 33 people from newborn to 84 and never felt crowded! Steve is very nice to work with and Ted is amazing! Even bringing us a dust pan! We love this place!
Yearly family vacation.
It really should begin with the professionalism and friendliness of owner in prompt responses to early ? we had when making reservations. Second, the absolute best neighbor, Ted, who oversees your stay, is very helpful and well represents owner. The property is STUNNING. We've rented a house every year (10 years) for our family trips in different states and locations and this property and its amenities inside and out would definitely be in our top 3. Will definitely share details with others. Thank you Steve Blackmon, owner, for such a fantastic place to share and create new memories!
