Wonderful Fall Weekend
The house was super cute. Exactly the cabin in the woods we were hoping for. The fall leaves were STUNNING. Lots of cute towns within 30 min drive of the cabin. We all had a really great time.
Great house and property
We stayed end of August with two kids, grandparents, and our dog. The house and property are very well maintained. We had a great time. The house was great for hanging out, cooking, eating, watching TV, playing games and the property was great for getting fresh air by sitting out front or walking on the trails behind the house. This time of year (Aug) you don't want to go out at dusk or later because of the bugs but we enjoyed the mornings and afternoons! Lowell Lake State Park is very close and a beautiful place to walk/hike. The kids also enjoyed going to Bromley Fun Zone (I think that's what it's called) which was also very close by. We would recommend this house as a great place to stay. We would love to come back in the fall and the winter!
We had a wonderful time! The farm house and grounds around it were beautiful. The dogs had room to run and have fun. The grand-kids enjoyed it as well. Each day we visited a different hiking trail or state park. We never traveled over an hour. We loved the area and the weather. We loved it so much we started looking at local real estate for sale. If you are a skier, this location is great. There are 4 or 5 ski areas close by and if you cross country ski you just need to go out the back door.
Very nice charming place convenient to multiple ski mountains and good dining
Enjoyed use of the Nordic ski facility and found all of the staff to be great
A charming country farmhouse.
We had a great stay. Be aware that it has 3 bathrooms, but all are on the second floor. Not a problem unless someone has arthritis...
Dana was a big help and even set up a Christmas Tree for us! We'd go back again.
Without a doubt, Viking Center is my favorite winter getaway in Vermont. This is my second visit and our group enjoyed it even more than the initial stay. The house is roomy, comfortable and perfectly located for a variety of activities.... walk out the door to lovely x-country skiing and snow shoeing, take a run down the road (saw a moose yesterday), take a short drive into Londonderry for a delightful cafe/natural foods deli and nearby yoga, or visit the surrounding towns. The hosts, Dana and Malcolm, are charming, readily available to answer any questions and have taken great care of the house and ski trails. We can't wait to return. Thanks Dana and Malcolm.
Thanks for the lovely review Nanny. We love having you all stay with us! Even Mother Nature kicked in to help make your stay better by giving us an unexpected winter snowfall. I can't tell you how happy I was that you got to ski on good snow. Your visit is always a pleasure. We hope to see you again soon. Dana
The house is 1 mile from Londonderry shopping, 20 minutes from Manchester, and 6 miles from Weston. Also 20 minutes from Stratton and Okemo ski areas, 10 minutes from Bromley Mountain and the summer Fun Zone, and 5 minutes from Magic Mtn. The 72 acre property includes 8 km of private trails for summer and fall use and ski passes for each house guest for the 39 km cross country ski and snowshoe trail system during the winter.
In the summer and fall, guests can fill their days without ever leaving the house's grounds -- playing in the large yard, walking the ski trails, flying kites in the meadow, or watching the sun set over the Green Mountains from the raised deck in the meadow. And of course, walking, running, or biking over the private trail network. The Appalachian Trail and Long Trail are nearby, Lowell Lake State Park is 1/2 mile away for canoeing, and there many great options for kayaking and fishing. Miles of Vermont back roads are great for long bike rides, runs, or drives.
Other Activities: Cross country skiing & snowshoeing
