About the property

Wonderful Villa for 9 In Aix Set In Peaceful Garden

This is a large and charming villa which comfortably houses 10 or 11 people with 4 double bedrooms, one single and one twin bedded. There are three bathrooms. The house is set amidst a 2 acres garden with a bamboo forest, orchard and a lawn which is partly shaded. The large terrace overlooks the garden and the pool and there is a shaded pergola next to the pool. The kitchen is spacious with very good equipment for those who like cooking. The living room is cool and comfortable with a TV with channels in all languages, a piano and an extensive stock of books and DVDs in French and English. Wifi is available throughout the property including the terrace. The garden is very peaceful and has many sitting areas sunny or shaded.

About Christine Brown

We are a bilingual and bicultural couple with 3 children . Martin is an interior designer and is British. I am principal in an international school and I was born and bred in Aix en Provence although I have lived abroad for many years. Our children are now at university in the UK. We bought and entirely renovated this house a few years ago. We love its peaceful setting and the space and comfort it offers as well as its proximity to Aix en Provence.

Christine Brown purchased this villa in 2009

Why Christine Brown chose Aix-En-Provence

The property is very close to the centre yet in a beautiful and privileged area offering peace and quiet. The two acres garden has a bamboo forest, an orchard and great big oak trees. You can either sit by the pool or on the shaded terrace. Children can easily be supervised and Older one can be left alone in the studio which has its own garden and is independent. The pool is large (10X5) and next to a very pleasant shaded terrace and pergola with lots of sitting and lounging areas available to read or rest and contemplate the lovely view.

What makes this villa unique

You will feel away from it all yet on the doorstep of Aix, the Luberon area and all they have to offer whether it is cultural or sporty activities you are after. The nearest sandy beach is 45 mns away and there is easy access to motorways.

Perfect location, perfect house to share with friends or family

  • 5 of 5

We recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by renting this house for a week with friends and couldn't of been happier with our experience. We cooked together, ate outside every night, swam and relaxed. The location was perfect for easy day trps all over Provence.

Lovely garden & outdoor areas

  • 4 of 5

My family and extended family (6 adults and 4 children) had a very relaxing week at this property. We loved the shaded garden, pool, and all the outdoor seating options. The property is close to Aix en Provence and it was easy to drive in to this gorgeous town and its wonderful markets. We had a couple of day trips to other towns as well. The house slept us all comfortably, however the single room upstairs (which is a mezzanine) was very hot at night (July).

Great experience with great service

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented this property and stayed there with friends from Australia and Southern France. We all loved it, its atmosphere, proximity to Aix and the excellent service from the owner made the overall experience excellent. The nearby small township of Celony is a very short drive or a long walk away, you can buy great food there. The villa itself wraps you in a sense of separation from the normal and quicker rhythms of regular working life.

Favorite aspects: we would wake up, wander to the apple trees and pick fresh apples and eat them. They were delicious. The pool was perfect and provided a social locus when we invited people over for brunch, dinner or after-dinner drinks. All of our guests loved the property and its atmosphere.

I would love to go back and stay at this property. It comfortably holds 4 couples. My sister and brother-in-law also had two kids aged 5 and 3 and they had plenty of room in the downstairs bedroom/bathroom/mini-kitchen area. The kids loved their stay too.

Responsiveness and general service from the owner was great. She is very likeable, very conscientious about providing a great experience, and completely fluent in English.

A Wonderful Week

  • 5 of 5

My family have just spent a week in this wonderful Villa. I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who just wants a period of time where doing nothing and relaxing is the ultimate aim.

Location décevante

  • 2 of 5
