The “Casa Don Enrique at Finca El Drago measuring 300 sq.metres is a fantastic property for a big family or a group of friends.

Spectacular 8000 m2 Property

This 8,000 metre estate is one of the few examples left from a more splendid age which Tenerife knew when the Island was a paradise known only to a few Europeans. The 'finca' has outstanding views of Teide, the sea and the Oratava Valley. Its situation is excellent for travelling to other parts of the island as it is close to the motorway yet only a few minutes from the beach and the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. Close to the finca is to be found one of the best restaurants in the area. Although the origins of the finca dates to the XV1th century, the house itself dates back to the early XXth century. It is an elegant house with large rooms which have been carefully maintained. Mainly traditional furniture. The tropical gardens are a special feature with charming and secluded corners where one can relax with a book or merely admire the scenery. For the more energetic there is a tennis court with tennis racquets available free of charge, a swimming pool, a sauna, all set in lush vegetation with fruit trees. These facilities are shared amongst the 5 houses. This spacious house stretches over two floors with access to a rooftop terrace. Enjoy meals at the long dinner table on the ground floor, or on the outside patio in front of the kitchen. The master bedroom with its wide screen windows is the most special bedroom of the house – you may have to toss a coin. For sunbathing in private use the small rooftop terrace. From the roofs tower platform enjoy a spectacular 360° view over the Orotava valley and the Atlantic Ocean .

About Ana B. Reid

My name is Ana B. Reid. I live in Tenerife and I have been many years receiving clients on this spectacular finca, doubtless the most spectacular one I have seen in Tenerife. Its proximity to Puerto de la Cruz makes it a comfortable place to stay. I know the area very well and I give all the guests very useful information about beaches, restaurants, and must on this side of the island, where you can find 80% of the Tourist Attractions. I also have a lot of experience with tourist, as I studied Business Administration at University, I was selected to participate on the exchange students programme with Manchester University and a Master on Leisure and Tourist industry. Afte my studies, I worked in several companies until March 99, when I started her own project with a company specialising on Tenerife and called Tenerife Country Villas, getting the Tourist License from Gobierno (Goverment) de Canarias. Coming from an English family, I perfectly understand the wishes and hobbies of our European visitors, and being a Tenerife native, I have real information about the island, such as access to any subject which might interest my clients. It is a very quiet property, although it has very easy communications everywhere. It has a restaurant with garden only 30 metres from the house that we highly recommend. the elegance of this house is everywhere: on the pergola with views, on the picturesque chapel with many stories behind and the extremely ample spaces.

What makes this house unique

Having a Tennis court is a great advantage, also having a sauna. The pool is heated up to 24ºC and it is a large one, ideal if you like swimming. On the other hand, it has daily cleaning service from Monday to Friday, which is definitely a must. There are only 5 houses on the finca, which guarantees the privacy considering the property is 8000 m2!

Beautiful grounds and property

The 4-bedroom house is very large and easily accommodated the 5 of us. You can see that updates to the house to make it modern still preserved the historical structure. We enjoyed the pool and tennis court and appreciated the availability of a washer and dryer on site. It was also nice to meet other families staying at the finca. The other apartments are connected to the same building with separate entrances and terraces (some more private than others). Only one was detached. Unfortunately during our stay, the neighboring property burned some brush the first morning and the house and everything, such as our clothes, smelled of smoke our entire visit. We also had some unusual hot weather and while the property was listed with air conditioning (one of my applied filters), that was not the case. We had to leave the windows open and as they did not have screens, we had mosquitoes in the house and were bitten during the night. We were told fans would be provided but they did not appear. Also, while not Ana's fault, another neighboring property had parties over the weekend with loud music playing well past 1am. If we were able to close the windows, that may have helped. Wifi wasn't the strongest as we found only one room to be reliable (we called it the wifi room). Orotava is a good walk away but well worth it as it is a beautiful town to explore. The house is otherwise very conveniently located as it is right off the highway which is not a problem with noise at all. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for by a wonderful staff. House was also very clean and well maintained with some really beautiful artwork and furniture.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your detailed review, we are very grateful. I am happy to know that you enjoyed that much the pool, tennis court and all the facilities the finca provides. Yes, the finca is extremely clean and well maintained and the gardens are doubtless the best of this property. We do use air con on our houses on Canary Islands so that is not marked on the house facilities, I am trying to find out why that was expected. Yes, the week you came was unsually hot. Sorry about the fans, usually they keep them on the office and put them on the house when guest ask for them, as usually are not necesary. We have claimed already to the neighbour burning brush that first morning, this is the first time that happens and I guarantee that it will not happen again. We have also claimed again to the Restaurant on the área, because 2 saturdays per month they do a party with high music. To be honest, this is difficult to solve. Even if it is only a couple of days per month, it disturb our clients and we would like to avoid it. Thank you again and we wish you all the best from Tenerife!

A magnificent house set in the middle of beautifully tended and tranquil gardens.

My wife and I stayed for a week in April 2017 in the four bedroom house with our four daughters and a young friend. It really is as good as it looks on the website. The rooms are huge and well appointed with great views in all directions. We were very (pleasantly) surprised by the level of room service which matched the best hotels - the house was cleaned daily and all towels (both house and pool) were changed daily. The gardens which surround the house are beautiful with extensive lawns, mature palms and bounganvillea etc. The swimming pool was a good size but was a bit on the cool side when the weather was cloudy. The tennis court was excellent with rackets and balls freely available.

The property is right next to the motorway junction and I was worried traffic noise might be intrusive. Don't worry though - the motorway is set in a slight cutting and the finca is over the brow and down the slope a little so you're barely aware of it (except when you climb to the tower above the house to admire the 360 degree panorama from Mount Tiede to the coast at Puerto de la Cruz).

All in all, a fabulous place to stay if you prefer peace and quiet in luxurious surroundings. We hope to go again next year

We thought the property was beautiful and especially the grounds .

We would have liked to have had some explanation of the history of the property

It would also have been an extra bonus if there had been a small quantity of basic food (milk bread etc) as a welcome

Underbart ställe.

Vi hade hyrt den största lägenheten och blev positivt överraskade över hur fin den var. Gigantiska rum som gjorde att det kändes lyxigt. Speciellt det största sovrummet var helt underbart.

Fin tennisplan som nästan aldrig var upptagen, trevlig pool. Vänlig personal. Underbar trädgård. Endast köksutrustningen var lite bristfällig, annas var allt helt perfekt.

Vi skulle gärna återvända med hela familjen till detta ställe.

Extremely spacious and clean. The kitchen does need upgrading as one loose socket for microwave, kettle and toaster just doesn't work for a group of 8-10. the gardens are well maintained and beautiful and lots of fruit which is quite a novelty. The facilities on the site are very good, swimming pool, tennis court and sauna. The location is not exactly central, especially for first day essentials like milk and bread quite a walk to get to a local shop. You do need either car or be prepared to wait for buses. Once on the bus the ride to the town is short. The staff are very helpful.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review, it is lovely to know that you founded everthing clean and that you enjoyed specially the large heated pool and the tennis court and sauna. Most of our clients prefer to drive themselves to town and get there in 3 minutes but some other prefer to take the bus (there is a bus going to central Puerto every 30 minutes). Thank you for letting us know that there should be a second toaster and a second kettle, yes, maybe that might be necessary for a big group. All the best and I look forward for your next visit!

We can send a map with situation of this finca, which is very good as it has excellent communications to everywhere. Most of our clients book again on this house, I like mentioning also that there is a big road next to it, 150 metres, although there is such an amount of vegetation there that absolutely no one has complaint before. Only on the busy hours of the day, and from the south garden (never inside the houses), you can hear the whispering of some traffic, but it is so low that I insist that no one notice, I guarantee that. I went last month to do the annual check ( like checking the properties I rent) and I was very pleased of the maintenance. This is our most successful property. The north gardens have views to Puerto de la Cruz and the sea.

It is situated on the limit of Puerto de la Cruz. The house is surrounded by a lot of vegetation which gives a quiet atmosphere. On the main road walking 220 metres from the house there is the Bus Stop, every half and hour there is a bus stop going up to La Orotava centre and Bus Station there and also every half an hour there is a bus going down to Puerto de la Cruz centre and the beach.

Just near the property, on the left side, you can find Restaurant Los Perales, we recommend you to book a Garden table, definitely we recommend "arroz caldoso" their specialty (a kind of rice with sea food, it is absolutely delicious, they also have a wide range of excellent wines).

On the same side, about 350 metres, you can find the famous restaurant Lucas, considered the best on the north. On the other side of the road you have two more restaurants, but you have to walk 400 metres for that. There is also a very good restaurant very simple called "El ramal" which is actually the tipical house for local food (we call it "Guachinche"), delicious and Euros 7 per person! A bit further you can find the cool "Lucas", romantic and stylish, the best restaurant on this side of the island.

For supermarket, we recommend you use the big comercial center down near Martianez Beach, or walk up to La Orotava centre, where there are also some good supermarkets and more restaurants.

To get to Martianez beach, the easiest thing to do is to take the bus (it takes only 4 minutes to get there). The bus service here is cheap (especially if you use a Bono-Bus card) and punctual. You can also be collected by a taxi (I will provide a telephone number)
