About Jill and Bob Bowman

Bob is a retired engineer and Jill is a retired teacher. We both grew up in the Seattle area and we both skied at Stevens Pass when we were in high school. Bob and I met at a ski function while attending the University of Washington. After we raised our two children we decided to live between our cabin and our house in Redmond. After we bought our second cabin in Baring, we sold our house in Redmond and bought a condo in Kirkland. Now that we are retired we love to spend springtime traveling , summertime enjoying days in the mountains or on the beach, and wintertime skiing and reading. In the Fall and Summer we enjoy gardening the many flower beds that fill our yards.

Jill and Bob Bowman purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Jill and Bob Bowman chose Baring

We bought our first cabin in Baring in 1985 to be close to skiing, hiking, and river activities. Our children were young, so we wanted a cabin with a gentle sloping, grassy yard to the river, and this cabin had just that.. In 2004 our neighbors asked us if we wanted to buy their cabin. We decided to buy and renovate it to use as a guest house for our friends and family. When the river gave us our sandy beach in 2006 we decided to start renting the cabin to vacationers so that more people could enjoy the mountains, river, beach, sand castle building, and beautiful sunsets.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin has a beautiful yard and sandy beach. The access to the beach is a little sandy path next to the grass in the backyard. It has more bedroom areas than most cabins in the neighborhood. With renovations we could have a u-shaped kitchen with updated appliances, an entry hall for ski boots and coats, a king bedroom upstairs, wood floors in the living areas, and

carpet in the bedrooms, forced air electric heating, and a Lopi insert.

Wonderful stay and lovely hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Riverside Cabin! It's location right on the river is absolutely perfect, quiet, calm, beautiful. The cabin was super comfy and we mostly stayed in the one day that was cloudy, although we did get out to stack rocks! On our sunny day we drove up the pass to Deception Falls, which are wild and gorgeous and have a nice little nature trail, wandered up and down various roads, then had a late lunch in Skykomish at the charming Cascadia Cafe. Thanks, Bob and Jill, for being great hosts and communicators and also for the bottle of delicious homemade wine! We highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for an easy get-away from the "big city."
