The river and organic spaces

  • 5 of 5

Me and what’s-her-name were just looking for a place to get away from the Texas heat. So, into the Googler we put riverfront cabin/washington. What we got was Jill and Bob’s labor of love. This place is a perfect space that features extra room on the deck, river front beach, and landscaped spaces-front and back. Warmly decorated and well thought out with it’s meticulous upgraded craftsmanship anticipating anything you might need. The booking process, the owners, and this “retreat” were all honest, authentic and straightforward. Crisp morning walks in mid June. Back home now and it's 101 F. Can’t wait for the Summer of ’17.

Like no other....

  • 5 of 5

From the struggles and stresses that come with planning and organizing a last minute trip for a family of six people, to that sigh of releaf as everyone unloads from the car and mobs the snow covered slopes. These are my only concernes because Jill and Bob have helped take care of the rest. Genuine, accommodating, honest, reasonable, ... These are just a few values you will have to put up with while you are up here.

The cabin was comfortable and cozy for the duration of the stay. Even with six of us. Board games and shenanigans were a daily routine. We were falling more in love every night we stayed.

The entire process was very smooth, effortless, and enjoyable.(From booking to checking out.) We will be back for summer time shenanigans.

Owner's Response: Thank you Christopher for taking the time to write your very kind review. Bob and I are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay at our cabin. We are also happy that you found our cabin cozy and comfortable, and that you enjoyed the board games. We hope that you can stay again in the summer. Our cabin is great for families during the summer months. In the backyard there is a disc golf basket with discs for practicing your skills before heading up to Stevens Pass ski area to play their 18 basket disc golf course. On the beach there are all kinds of toys for building sand castles and kites to fly when the breeze picks up in the afternoon. There is also a two person kayak for exploring the river and tubes with golf umbrellas for tube sailing. We do not have any open nights in July and August, but June and September have nights available. Bob and I hope to see you all for some summer fun. Thanks again for your wonderful review! Jill and Bob

Awesome vacation close to home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this awesome cabin on a hot weekend and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. It was just our family of three so we pretty much just stayed downstairs but there were a total of three comfy rooms. We met the owners who were as nice as could be. The river right outside the cabin was the best part as we were able to take chairs down to the bank and put our feet in the water. They also have tubes available that we tied up to a brick and floated in the water while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Great place and we plan on returning!!

Owner's Response: Thank you Lindsey for taking the time to write your wonderful review. Bob and I always enjoy finding out what our guests liked about our cabin and what their favorite activities were. We agree that sitting by the river cooling one's feet or using the tubes to float in the water is a fabulous way to spend an afternoon. Did you see any fish? The next time you visit you and your family will have to try playing disc golf. We have just put a disc golf basket with some discs in the backyard. We thought a little practice before playing the 18 holes of disc golf at Stevens Pass was something our guests might enjoy. It was really a pleasure meeting all of you, we hope you all are doing well, and we look forward to your next visit.

Owners were the best!! Went out of their way to be accommodating. There was something for everybody to do. Kids enjoyed the kayak and tubes and swimming. When they got cold they jumped in the warm hot tub. The cabin was perfect has everything you need. My daughter in a wheelchair was able to sit on the deck and see the beautiful mountains and water. Thank you Bob and Jill for making our stay wonderful can't wait to come back.

Wonderful getaway, with everything you would want!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed here just before Labor Day wknd. We wanted a getaway that was on a river and needed some general family time together, as the summer had slipped away with out time for a camping trip.

The cabin is well appointed and nicely decorated... Having it's own beach is the cherry on top. Though the river is cold, it is swimmable. We used floating tubes (provided) to do a short river float. Started at an easy walk, up through the neighborhood. (The cabin is located in a small community of homes. Some strictly ski vacation homes, others where folks live year around.) Our kids, ages 12 & 10, loved being in the river, as they are strictly use to lake swimming. The clarity of the river was stunning to them. Seeing fish, when they dived under, with their swim goggles on...

The house has everything you need as far as pots and pans, etc. Lot's of board games, and more that can be borrowed from the owners, (who live next store, though there is plenty of landscaping and space that separates the properties. And they did leave for a night, while we were there, as they have an apt. in the city.)

The location is close to small stores, if you forgot something. We drove into Index for an afternoon and stopped at an incredible falls and swimming hole right off the highway, that we had never noticed before. (Owners can tell you the name and location.)

The hot tub just fit the four of us, and it got LOT'S of use. Super comfy beds, everyone had their own rooms, and one of the bedrooms has it's own TV/DVD player, so the kids could watch a movie away from the living room.

The whole cabin is situated toward the river, with the back deck being an excellent place for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Most nights we ate dinner at the table on the deck.

There are two fire pits, (we did not use,) but I suspect in winter, would be a fun thing to do. Beautifully landscaped with yards both front and back. Front has a great view of snowcapped peaks. This place is great!

Fantastic owners, very easy and friendly. They've had the cabin for years and love it so much up there, they bought the place next door and moved in, mostly full time. You can really tell the joy they get out of their place and their want, of sharing that joy.

Owner's Response: Thank you Melissa for taking the time to write this wonderfully detailed review. Bob and I are thrilled that you and your delightful family enjoyed the cabin, river, beach, hot tub, and games. We agree that having a TV in the bedroom for viewing movies is a great getaway for children. We now have a new flat screen TV on the wall above the dining table, so movies and TV viewing can be going on at the same time. We are also getting wireless internet this weekend. So more technology will now be available at Bowman's Riverside Retreat, if guests want it for watching sports, a favorite TV show, or keeping in touch with jobs, family, or friends. Yes, you are correct, Bob and I love our cabins and sharing them with family, friends and guests. We spend most of the summer and winter in the mountains because we love hiking, gardening, enjoying the beach and river, and skiing. It was our pleasure hosting your family last summer, and we look forward to your next visit. Our best to you and your family. Jill and Bob

Absolutely amazing week on the river!

  • 5 of 5

This quaint, comfortable, and charming cabin on the Skykomish River was a romantic retreat for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary! It's only an hour from Seattle, but felt like we were worlds away. We loved every minute of our week long vacation. The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the owners are so thoughtful and kind in providing extras (for example one of the evenings we were there the temperature dropped a little bit and the owners thought we might get chilly so brought over some firewood for us to use in the fireplace). Jill and Bob made our stay even more memorable. This is the perfect location to do as much, or as little as you would like. The hot tub is perfect to relax and just watch the stars. The beds are beyond comfortable! And the cabin was so clean it seemed brand new. The pictures definitely do not do this adorable place justice. Jill and Bob are quite the gardeners as well, the grounds are amazing! We are already planning our next visit :) If you are looking for great place to get away from it all, look no further... you will love Bowman's Riverside Retreat! ~Jen & Amar D.

Bob and I are thrilled that you found our cabin the perfect place for your anniversary getaway. We were happy to hear that you found the inside of the cabin cozy, clean, and comfortable. It was a pleasure having you both spend a week at our cabin, and we look forward to your next visit. Jill and Bob too
