Overview

About the property

Apartment sleeps 2-4 people, close to beach and town. Dog friendly.

In the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the stunning views over the beach at Ventnor Bay. The apartment faces south on a quiet private road, with its own parking, overlooking the beach and 5 mins walk to town.

The apartment is situated in the victorian coastal town of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Famous for its mild Mediterranean style microclimate it has the highest number of sunshine hours in the UK.

With its blue flag beach, lined with pretty victorian beach huts and fantastic coastal scenery, it is perfect for families or couples and often attracts walkers, writers and artists who come in search of unspoilt views. Its quirky mix of small vintage shops and many popular restaurants offer something for everyone. Some of our apartments are also dog friendly.

The 2nd floor apartment has its own parking and independent access and has 1 family bedroom (double & bunks), bathroom, separate lounge (with pull down double bed) and a fully equipped kitchen. The apartment has fantastic sea views from both the lounge and bedroom, perfect for lying in bed and listening to the waves!

The apartment is decorated with a coastal theme and has broadband wi-fi, sky television, a dvd player and a fully equipped kitchen. Beds have comfy mattresses and new pillows and duvets. Crisp white bed linen and towels are also provided.

We have a games room, laundry room and there is also a small garden and patio overlooking the sea for guests to use.

Please note Ventnor is hilly and there are steps to all apartments so it is not suitable for those with mobility problems.

About Dawn Giles

We are a family from Hampshire who simply love the sea!

We have travelled to many places with work and for fun, but are always drawn back to the coastline for those ever changing sea views and big skies.

We lead busy lives, Guy runs his own company providing technology to local government organisations and I juggle running the apartments along with 2 children and a dog, so Ventnor is somewhere we escape to whenever possible!

We have tried to give the apartments a lovely coastal feel with whitewashed walls and driftwood signs, and we have left lots of books and games for all to enjoy.

We hope you will have a fantastic time in Ventnor and would love you to hear about the best bits of your holiday.

Why Dawn Giles chose Isle of Wight

A sunny day, a posh coffee and a sea view!

We had talked about owning a holiday home for years, and spent many hours gazing longingly in estate agents windows and searching for the right place. We fell in love with the Isle of Wight and particularly Ventnor, for its fantastic coastline and quirky shops & cafes. Finding the apartments where we could lie in bed and listen to the waves on the beach was like a dream come true.

Our children, Zac & Amelie, love finding treasures in rockpools, eating homemade ice creams from Crave, and playing frisbee on the beach.

Our dog, Derek, loves charging around on the beach and fetching driftwood from the sea.

Guy and I love to spend a sunny day with a good book and a posh coffee, just soaking up the sea view.

What makes this apartment unique

My best bits are:

- Enjoying a cheeky tipple on the patio whilst watching the sun reflecting off the sea

- Lying in bed listening to the waves

- Feeling the sun on my face whilst relaxing in the deck chair

- Watching the wall lizards basking in the sun on the garden wall

- Walking along the coastal path on a windy day

- Playing cricket or rounders on the beach at the end of the day

- Finding treasures in rockpools and building sandcastles

- Grabbing award winning fish and chips from the Haven fishery

- Not needing to go out anywhere, because you already have the best view in town!

good

Very clean, very tastefully decorated and well-equipped for our needs. The location was really good. Our only criticism was that we were mislead by the photos into thinking that we had a balcony on the property. The photo was actually of the terrace 2 floors below. We also didn't realise that there were an awful lot of steps up and down, which made unloading our luggage hard work!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and I'm very glad you liked the apartment. We do try to be very accurate with our descriptions of the apartment and there is no mention of a balcony in the advertisement so I'm sorry if you misinterpreted the pictures. We are generally happy for guests to make use of our patio area shown if they would like to sit outside though. Hope to see you another time.

Stunning views out. To sea

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was clean and well appointed. The views were stunning. Ventnor is a nice little seaside town with some interesting shops. The fish and chips from the fish stall were delicious.

Fab views, clean and bright, simply furnished.

  • 5 of 5

This was a very reasonably priced holiday in a property with fantastic views. We loved it and will be returning. The furnishing is completely acceptable, the kitchen a little dated perhaps, but our plan wasn't to spend time in the kitchen. The location was lovely, some places were closed for the season; but there were still plenty of options that weren't. We would thoroughly recommend it! But beware there are a lot of steps, the owner makes this clear, but be under no illusions the flat we were in (top floor) required a bit of a climb! Good to work off those extra calories we consumed in all the varied eateries! Lots of friendly people around too & that makes all the difference.

Perfect, even in late December

  • 5 of 5

This block of holiday apartments is superb, we wanted Christmas away overlooking the sea & we were not disappointed. 'We' comprise of a middle aged couple, an octogenarian & dog Lucy. We needed somewhere that was warm & comfortable, where we could sit & watch the sea out of the windows should the weather be to bad to explore.

We were accommodated in No 6, Driftwood, which is one of the 3 top apartment's, the only 3 that allow dog's! To get to number's 6 & 7 there are 3 flight's of steps, on the outside of the building, on the 2nd landing you will find flat 5 & the well equipped games room. Please don't be put off by this, because I have limited mobility & managed it ok. It will be a breeze for able bodied people!

Once inside the apartment, it is lovely, modern, clean & fresh, there I no hint at all that dogs had previously stayed there. There is a double bed & bunks in the bedroom & a pull out double tucked away discreetly in the living room, all beds are very comfortable. Bed linen, towel's, washing up cloth & towels, central heating & endless hot water are all inclusive in the price. There is a short cut directly opposite to the beach, less than 2 minutes away, there is adequate parking, oh & there is also a small laundry for guest to use, also included.

I just know that families with children of all ages will adore staying here, parents too. There is a lovely little patio, equipped with furniture, that i imagine would welcomed by parents of children that choose not to go out of an evening, allowing precious 'me' time with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down as he children are sleeping safe & sound just upstairs. They even have buckets & spades for the children to borrow & older children will love using the games room ..... Salty Holidays really evokes my own holidays as a child, but with a lovely modern twist ... Perfection!

When you arrive there is everything there to make a welcoming cup of tea/coffee while you unpack.

Thank Dawn & Guy, you have thought of everything :)

Self-catering in Ventnor with superb seaviews

  • 3 of 5

Very nice location and fantastic views of the seascape and surrounding town. The apartment did exactly what it said on the tin and served the flexible purposes we had in mind, whilst providing a relaxing aspect and easy access to the town's eateries and shops. etc. Lovely walks along the sea front in both directions. The apartment was a base for us to explore the southern parts of the IoW and beyond. Personally, I won't stay self-catering again unless the place has a dishwashing machine - I do not want to spend parts of my holiday washing up dishes and pans after cooking (for example) a smelly fish dish from locally sourced fish. Takes too much time out and spoils the moment. Also, must have a bigger TV to watch films and so forth rather than squinting at a small screen telly. But overall we have no complaints, slept well and generally relaxed/chilled in this splendid location.
