About Jatin Singh

I am a consultant Pediatrician in the NHS and my wife is a Consultant Child Psychiatrist and used to live in Slade house while working in Torbay Hospital Torquay. Since my move to Cheshire I have been managing Slade house as a holiday let

Jatin Singh purchased this yacht in 2001

Why Jatin Singh chose Devon

I had searched for more than 6 months for a suitable property but when I saw Slade House it was love at first sight.

What makes this yacht unique

The house had everything going for it- in a quiet rural village but still close to all amenities and less than 1 mile from the main A380. The views from each room were stunning and the leisure complex was wonderful. It was modern with all the modern amenities. The countryside around was glorious. Perfect

Guestbook comments from the owner

“a really wonderful house for the whole family”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

The villa was very clean and well kept. Was greated by Eve with a welcome cuppa and shown around the house. The house is at split levels which affords wonderful views of Devon countryside from all rooms.the snooker table was extensively used and the swimming pool and sauna were a blessing as the weather was horrible. the kids enjoyed the movies that are provided while we dipped into the large book collection. The kids were keen to go horse riding at the next door stables but weather did not permit. Very friendly small local pub does ok food. overall a wonderfull house esp if you have kids

Great holiday house and location

  • 4 of 5

Lovely and spacious house, the pool is well maintained and warm, the gardens are nice with lots of seating areas and 2 BBQs.

We enjoyed playing pool in the games room, the beds were very comfortable and power showers a nice treat. There is a fantastic TV room upstairs with loads of seating and lovely views. The village itself is extremely quiet and the locals are very friendly. The pub is very nice and friendly (and also very small). Great location for Dawlish and Teignmouth plus Dartmoor. Plus some nice walks from the house.

The only criticism was that the house could do with a spring clean - the windows were pretty dirty and surfaces not in constant use were grimy. Some of the equipment in the kitchen could do with replacing - eg we couldn't find a working tin opener or a decent sharp knife.

Despite the minor grumble we would definitely return as we had a lovely holiday.

A wonderful all weather villa in beautiful Devon

  • 5 of 5

A very well maintained villa with heated indoor swimming pool connected to main house. leisure complex also has a sauna & gym with a high class music system which is also connected to concealed Bose garden speakers. leisure complex leads to a sunken Patio with a fantastic stone round table and circular stone chairs-seats up to 10. patio gas heater on request. There is a well appointed library with plush leather sofa which also has Snooker table and Yamaha keyboard with collection of electronic cassettes which light up appropriate keys on keyboard to enable you to play even if you are a novice-great fun. There is also a good collection of board games.

The power showers in all bathrooms except are Grohe Towers with multiple faucets and were delightful and there is even a whirlpool Jacuzzi in one. The villa is split level because of which all rooms have wonderful views of Devon country side with No neighbours who can peek through.

There are 2 extra large Plasma TV's with dvd players and vcrs and a good selection of movies for all ages. 1 Tv is in the lounge and other in the Snug Tv room which has a super comfortable sofa which can double as double bed.

The Kitchen is connected to sun room which also leads to rear garden with a dining table, chairs and sofa offering a great place for casual eating without having to use more formal dining room. Kitchen has everything one needs with Gas hobs and electric double ovens and microwave etc.

There is a computer and printer for use as well as free wifi. and a telephone for guests.

next door is a riding stable and my daughter really enjoyed the hacking and could not wait for next morning.

The village pub is only a 100 yards away-It is small and quaint but the pub food choice is limited. There is however a very good pub/restaurant in the next village, Luton about a mile down narrow country lane.

The walks around are truly spectacular as there is No traffic on the roads so one does not even have to take the country tracks which are also plentiful.

One of the best things is location- we used to sit in the sun even in January on loungers provided in the totally private rear garden(nicely landscaped on Feng Shui principles) and all we could hear were birds. The beaches are about 2 miles away and Dartmoor about 8 without having to brave any crowded roads. We also enjoyed the English Riveria towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham which are close

The meet and Greet service with a hot cuppa By Eve was really welcome

A beautiful villa in beautiful Devon countryside.

  • 5 of 5

A well appointed property professionally maintained. Even towels are included.Very helpful owner who provided lots of very useful local info. Eve a neighbor provides Meet and greet service with a welcome hot Cuppa when we arrived.

The leisure facilities are indeed great with large indoor swimming pool,Sauna, Gym, snooker table, library, 2 large screen Tvs with video and Dvd players and DVDs and Videos and computer with printer, internet access and WiFi. Very nice garden at the back with sunken patio, large coal Barbeque and Patio heating if required ( gas cylinder costs 25£ extra) so No problem at all if weather is not so good. Pool is really really nice and water is sparkling.

The lounge is large.and has a wonderful view as do all rooms infact except for 1bedroom. Nice kitchen and connected conservatory with American type fridge/freezer dispensing ice/cold water.Very private property with parking for 3 cars.Local walks are very nice on traffic free lanes.

The riding school next door is great for kids. Cosy local pub just 200 yards away but food is so so. very good food at the Elizabethian in next village a mile away. The beaches of Shaldon,Teignmouth and Dawlish are just 10 mins drive away through pretty country lanes. Went to Dartmoor, about half hrs drive. Torquay and Paignton about 20 minutes drive away have nice beaches, restaurants, things to see and do, children's activities and a great Night life for all ages. Torquay better for younger crowd while the establishments along Paignton seafront are great for slightly older people with many places having Live Music and Dancing every night. Exeter with its famous cathedral is also only 20 miles. Recommend the Various pubs along the River Exe as well as drive from Exeter to Torquay which is all along the seacoast with magical views. .

Warning: There are no shops in village but online ordering and delivery service with all large supermarkets in Newton about 3 miles away.We preferred cute shops in Chudleigh though. There are nice Chinese and Indian restaurants at beginning of High street. Tried Eastern Eye and Royal China both recommended.

also went to the world famous Eden Project in Cornwall -a nice day trip about an hour and a half drive.

Strongly recommend 2 weeks at least to really enjoy and explore.
