Casa Cycas is a lovely apartment with a wonderful sea view located on the waterfront of Aci Trezza, a fishing village rich in history and legends halfway between Catania and Acireale.
The apartment is on the first floor of an elegant historic building in Art Nouveau style with which guests will share its beautiful entrance.
Casa Cycas has two double bedrooms and a marble bathroom with a bidet, two sinks and a large shower. The living room, which makes room for a small kitchen, is made unique by large windows overlooking the sea and in particular the typical 'Faraglioni' of Aci Trezza, namely spikes of lava rock that rise between the clear water of the bay and give to this corner of Sicily a truly charming and romantic atmosphere.
According to a legend, the Cyclops Polyphemus threw into the sea those rocks detached from Etna in an attempt to stop Ulysses who was leaving with his fleet. More likely, however, “Faraglioni” are the remains of an ancient volcanic activity. Beyond their origins, today those stacks and its waters host an exclusive variety of plants and animals that make this place very interesting also for those who like to know more about nature.
Casa Cycas offers guests the opportunity to relax in the beautiful garden behind the villa, equipped with outdoor furniture including comfortable lounge chairs. Furthermore, there are a parking space, a good conditioner suitable as heater for the winter, and wireless Internet. And there is more: during summer (from June 15 to September 15), guests can enjoy a direct and private access to the rocks in front of the villa where a wooden deck and a ladder will make easier to appreciate the Sicilian sun and to plunge into the sea.
Casa Cycas is a chic and comfortable house, but a great part of its charm is due to the fact of being located in the beautiful village of Aci Trezza. Celebrated by one of the most famous Italian writers of the 19th century i.e. Giovanni Verga, the village is an active fishing place and an appreciated resort by both families and young couples from Catania. In particular, Aci Trezza is loved for its romantic promenade, for the opportunity to visit the Faraglioni, for its excellent fish restaurants and pizzeria, and in general for its vibrant atmosphere that persists even during the few winter months.
Among the various ways of knowing and experiencing Sicily, a holiday in Casa Cycas is undoubtedly one of the bests.

Fantastic apartment and breathtaking location
The apartment is really as nice as shown on the pictures. The view on the sea and the islands is breathtaking. The location is really perfect. We were glad to have a parking slot on the premises. There are many nice restaurants nearby and each morning we went some metres to Cafe Mythos for the Sicilian breakfast: Granite (ice) with warm brioche. :-)
Lovely appartement with a beautiful view! It was pretty quiet downtown because of the time of the year but we really enjoyed the weather, sea, restaurants and the rest of the east coast. Very nice owners and everything we needed was available in the apartment!
We really enjoyed our vacation in Aci Trezza!
Just a perfect place for us!
We needed a quiet vacation with lovely food and a view! And everything was there. With this beautiful home, friendly people and lots of restaurants. Just perfect!
Amazing property in a perfect location!
We stayed here for almost two weeks with our two young sons. It was perfect, we spent everyday swimming off of the rocks right across the street. The listing description is accurate, I honestly think the place in person is even more amazing! The property was very clean and well-maintained. The hosts available on the property were super sweet and accommodating as well as the manager and contacts. The on-site hosts even offered to let our friends park on the premises for the day. It is very close to Mythos, a bar, that according to our kids has the best gelato and granitas in Aci Trezza. If we get to return to Sicily we will stay here again!
A wonderful apartment by the sea
Maria and Alfio could not of been more welcoming. The fresh fruit and wine on arrival was a lovely surprise. We can't speak any Italian and Alfio was on hand with his google translate. The apartment photos do not do it justice as it is stunning. We hired a car but it stayed in the garage the whole ten days as driving in Sicily is crazy. Undertaking, overtaking sometimes at the same time was scary on the drive from the airport. We had plans to go exploring but ended up just staying around the harbour relaxing and people watching. My husband took a fishing rod with him and we spent a few evenings sitting on the harbour wall and as I have never fished before was surprised that my first catch was an octopus. A local gentleman helped to free it from the line as we didn't have a clue and he was grateful to take it home for his dinner. The local restaurants were nice but busy at the weekends and the largest pizzeria on the square had great pizzas. We ate in one night but grabbed takeaways on our fishing nights. On the road that's runs behind the square the one with the church on has a great little deli that sells roasted chicken from a spit stuffed with onions and olive. We were regular customers there and the owners having told them how delicious their chickens were knew exactly what we wanted when we walked in. Lovely to have at lunch time with some bread and cheese. Would highly recommended staying here. Thank you to Lenneke the owner and of course Maria and Alfio

This place is amazing!
My husband and I, along with our 13-months old daughter and my parents, arrived at Casa Cycas on Sunday 10th December 2016.
When you look at pictures of your vacation destination you can't allways be sure if it really looks as shown. But this time it was even better then on the pictures - the villa is elegant, spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and in a beautiful setting.
There are two double bedrooms, and a big salon with a seaview. The kitchen is small but fully equiped - there was even a bottle of wine waiting for us! The outside space is fantastic, with lovely views.
Due to the weather (it was rather cold) we did not use the terrace in front of the villa but it must be a great experience during the warmer months.
Aci Trezza was quite quiet at this time of year, but there were plenty of restaurants to choose from. And it is a good base for longer trips (Catania, Etna, Taormina etc.).
All in all we enjoyed a very relaxing stay and will certainly be returning.
Acitrezza is an excellent base from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The villages of Etna, such as Trecastagni, Zafferana Etnea and Randazzo, are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their seventeenth century churches, their delicious local produce and the hospitality of the villagers. Situated 700 metres above sea level, they are a favourite retreat of the city dwellers who, in summer are in search of cool, fresh air, while in winter are in search of snow for skiing. Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below!
