We are a family of four living in Glasgow. Ebenezer Hall is our holiday home, often used by family and friends.

Why Charlie Irvine chose Scotland

Ebenezer Hall was a disused church in a conservation village, Leadhills, one hour's drive from Glasgow and 15 minutes from the M74. The village is a fascinating testament to a history of lead and gold mining and the curfew bell is still its centrepiece. We have spent five years creating a beautiful space to provide a wonderful experience for visitors. Our inspirational architect used the full height of this 1905 chapel to create a stunning upper floor with open plan living space, arched windows and hill views.

What makes this house unique

Bright, spacious and warm, Ebenezer Hall is perfect for a winter getaway or summer walking holiday. With beautiful views of the Southern Uplands, this unique house has been respectfully restored to modern specification while preserving much of its original character, from coloured window arches to staircase constructed from pew timber. Mod cons include Nespresso cappuccino maker, Neff induction hob, flat screen TV, Sky, wireless broadband, Bose Soundlink Air sound system, rain showers and memory-foam king-size beds. Playstation 2 (with large selection of games) and X-box 360 available.

Despite its rural setting, Ebenezer Hall is 200 meters from the Hopeton Arms hotel and a village shop open 7 days per week.

My brothers and I enjoyed a great long weekend in this property. It's an old Brethren Assembly Hall which has been converted into a really beautiful holiday home. It feels amazingly spacious but very cozy at the same time. Absolutely perfect for an autumnal weekend away. The house has been furnished to a very high spec. We had a really comfortable and pleasant (and lazy) break. It's a real find.

Fab Accommodation, Great Location, Would Highly Recommend

Traveled with 4 adults, 4 children (aged 3 - 8) and 3 dogs. Easy place to find and located in the centre of the village which has a well stocked shop and a nice pub. The accommodation is a fantastic place to stay and the finish is of excellent quality. Very will laid out and with lots of space. Plenty of plates, cutlery, glasses, utensils etc etc which always makes things easier. Bed linen and towels provided and the property was very clean on arrival. Would highly recommend this place and was excellent value for money. Great days out a Drumlanrig Castle & New Cumnock outdoor swimming pool and lots of great walks and excursions in the area. One of the kids best days was spending the afternoon down by the river a couple of miles down the road.

Very Well Appointed Property Conversion

A very comfortable property, extremely spacious with 3 luxury baths & 4 beds to easily sleep 8. Lovely open plan upper floor lounge/dining/kitchen area, nicely appointed. Liked the extras not always, or often, found - HD TV, WiFi, Bose music system. Dog friendly. Minor heating problem, but easily resolved and owner-aware with a permanent fix in hand. Family from nearby Hamilton visited for 2 nights and were equally impressed. Would definitely recommend, and will certainly be back.

Excellent Family House

A unique, well renovated house in beautiful surroundings. The rooms are of an excellent size with everything you need and plenty of space for a family holiday. It is a peaceful location which was very relaxing. An ideal place to get away from it all. We would definitely stay there again with our family.

Notes:
Ebenezer Hall is a converted church, formerly a Plymouth Brethren chapel built in 1905. Original features have been lovingly preserved, including coloured arched windows and Sunday school notice board. The old pews have been used for timber throughout the house, including the hand built staircase. Ebenezer Hall is an 'upside down house', so the upstairs living area is beautifully bright and warm with views over the hills.
