About Leslie & Dick Morrill
We love the Cape and Wellfleet in particular! Dick has been a local fixture since mid 1970's. He is a founding member of the Wellfleet Harbor Actor's Theater and has enthusiastically participated in the summer WHAT 4 Kids productions under the tent. Leslie has made the Cape her second home and enjoys all the outdoor activities including biking hiking and kayaking. We love food! and focus on home creations and eating out. We love to travel and savoring immersion in other cultures: Thailand, Mexico and even South Beach FL. ;) We enjoy art theater and music and support the local venues where so much is possible.

A lovely week in a lovely home
We enjoyed our week-long stay in this beautiful property very much. The house is perfectly appointed with everything you would need to enjoy a week on the Cape. The house is large enough to comfortably split with another family. We loved the covered porch and the hot tub outside. We hope to make this an annual trip! Thank you for being such lovely hosts.
Great house, nosey owners
Upon arrival we were told that we had to meet with the owners to go over everything. I found this odd since most properties I have stayed at, they simply give you instructions ahead of time and/or let you know where the key is and the basic rules of stay. These owners insisted on coming over at 8:30p right when we got there to give us "the grand tour." In theory that sounds great, but it basically included the owner wandering us around the house, giving us outdated information about what's in town and activities to do. Once we were able to get the house to ourselves to unpack and get ready for bed, it occurred to us that no information had been left about the internet or how to lock the house up (they don't lock the house up). The owners did respond somewhat quickly with this information, mind you by this time it's close to 10p. We then experienced some very odd occurences. The first one was upon arriving home from our first day at the beach. The male owner was inside the house cleaning the hot tub. He gave us no warning or indication that he would be entering the house while we were there. This took us really by surprise since they could have done this the entire day leading up to our arrival. The next occurrence happened while my daughter was lounging on the screened in porch. Since the house is secluded (which was wonderful), she was wearing nothing but a towel to cool off and relax. She turns around and there's the female owner right outside. Talk about embarassing! I guess the owner had to get something out of the shed that's next to the front door (they live right down the hill from the rental). Again, no notice was given that anyone would be stopping by. The third occurrence happened when one morning I looked up and saw the male owner walk straight into our rental without knocking or notifying us that he was coming over. He stated he was tasked to look at screened in porch furniture because it needed to be replaced and then proceeded to show us how bad it was. The last occurrence happened when upon arriving home from the beach, both owners were at the house actively moving "new" furniture in and rearranging other rooms as well. Again NO notice that this was going to happen. So, great house/location, intrusive owners. We did not feel we had any privacy at all.
This is a very quiet home on a cul de sac that is very comfortable and beautifully laid out for a vacation. Wellfleet is a mile away and a lovely quiet village with art galleries and an active cultural scene - and a convenient distance to Ptown if more art and the National Seashore beaches are of interest.
Can't wait to go back!!
We don't have enough room in this review to state how wonderful our stay was at Dick and Leslie's home. We loved every minute. Their home is beautifully designed and reflective of the creative, kind, adventurous people that they are. As we drove up the driveway, we knew we were in for a real treat. Every room has been given special care, and immediately we felt we were in a home away from home. It was incredibly peaceful, and the amount of stars we could see from the outdoor hot tub were breathtaking! The hand-picked flowers that greeted us on every table also added to the tranquil ambience. We were happy to be exploring the great shops in Wellfleet, but just as happy to be cooking in our 'home away from home' and enjoying meals on the screened-in porch. We also appreciated the kindness of Leslie and Dick through every encounter we had with them. From the initial stage of booking and confirming details over the phone/email to when we arrived at their place and discussed with Dick the sights to see, restaurants to go to, etc. - it was truly a pleasure. We have spoken to many friends and family members about our stay and recommend it highly. We are excited to go back, the only problem about going....is that you won't want to leave! : )
Exceptional, Beautiful, and Tranquil
My family has been renting this house for one or more weeks every year but two (when we were overseas and couldn't get to the Cape) since 2003 when it was first built. We had been visiting the Cape--usually Wellfleet or Truro--since 1993, staying in a different house every year. After meeting Dick and Leslie and experiencing this house in 2003, we have never wanted to stay anywhere else. The house is exceptional--it is clean, well cared for, and beautifully designed. Some years we have shared the house with another family while others we have been on our own or our teenage daughter has had friends stay with us. In every case it has worked well. The kitchen is great and well stocked. The house is convenient to everything but in a quiet spot that makes it a relaxing and tranquil spot to hang out when one has had enough of hiking, cycling, ocean, bay, and ponds. Dick and Leslie are amazing, kind, thoughtful, and generous people who we feel privileged to have come to know.
What a Wonderful Home!
My brother and I visited Wellfleet with our wives in mid October past fall. Dick has built this beautiful house on his own and the decor was awesome. Leslie had added a special touch with her tasteful decor. The place was very clean and set in a wonderful wooded setting. In fact the open deck made us feel as if we were right in the forest. The neighbourhood was quiet and the houses set far apart. There was even a flock of wide turkeys on the road! Although the house was a bit tricky to find Leslie and Dick gave us clear directions. The GPS helped too.. It was very nice to meet our hosts, who made every effort to make sure that we would be comfortable, and we were. The annual Wellfleet oyster festival was celebrated during the last weekend of our stay. I am so happy that we got to see that. Wonderful food and a colourful crowd. The restaurants in the region are excellent and the grocery in town had all we needed. We rented a car for the duration of our stay and visited other parts of the cape as well. We even made a day trip to Boston. A car is recommended. I travel quite a bit and often stay in homes or condos or timeshares. I must say that this home was among the very best that I have ever experienced. Thank you so much, Dick and Leslie.
We are adjacent to the National Seashore with walking / biking trails to bay side beaches at Duck Harbor and Great Island. Your major decision is choosing between bay, ocean beaches or fresh water ponds! High dunes at the four Ocean beaches are a special Wellfleet feature. Walking trails abound.
Wellfleet Village is less than a mile away for shops, galleries, restaurants, organic groceries and farmers market for fresh veggies and fresh fish. Consider renting sail or power boats, kayaks to explore the harbor and coastline. Access to playgrounds and tennis courts plus the Cape Cod Bike trail offers bike rentals. Mass Audubon is great for bird watching, guided tours and Children Summer Camp Programs. Nearby towns offer whale watching, golf and fishing.
Our Drive-In Movie Theater is a Wellfleet landmark - the Outdoor Flea Market is great fun for weekend morning treasure hunting. Enjoy award-winning Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater at two locations plus WHAT 4Kids.
Other Activities: Audubon Camp, Wellfleet Drive-In with flea market, Galleries with openings most Friday evenings, Live Theater at WHAT, Truro Tent adn P-town.
