A beautiful, ingenious, inspiring place to stay in Detroit!!
Alex did an amazing job transforming the attic of this mansion into a really comfortable and aesthetically awesome space. I loved the colors and all the clever design features. Kitchen had everything we needed, bed is SUPER comfy (but watch your head as you get in, with the slanted roof!), A/C is terrific, cozy couches and rugs made it such a nice place to decompress. Very easy street parking and access to the house, and Alex's communications were prompt and clear. Really quiet and peaceful, and other tenants in the building were friendly. We felt quite safe here. Terrific price for such a cool place! Alex also provided a very helpful binder with maps and great tips for things to do in Detroit, including walking around the surrounding Woodbridge neighborhood with its many lovely restored homes and funky outdoor art. This is one of several inspiring environmentally-conscious home restorations Alex has carried out, which I enjoyed seeing on my walk around Woodbridge (e.g., the Lorax House and the Up House). Staying here was an EXPERIENCE, not to be missed!!
Comfortable well renovated and furnished
As an architect who specializes in building renovation I appreciate the effort that went into restoring this property.
The accommodation is in original attic space and is cleverly done and comfortable. Everything was clean and well furnished. I would not recommend it for people over 6 feet tall because head space created by the dormers is low. Otherwise I give this property a high recommendation
This was the perfect space for our stay. Very clean and super cute. We would stay here again without hesitation!
Good guest. Had no issues. Would definitely welcome again
Loved the space, and the neighborhood was convenient for getting downtown or walking to nearby restaurants. Very comfortable, unique place to enjoy the Detroit area :)
Cute studio in a gorgeous house and a great neighborhood
We were only in Detroit for a couple days before heading home to California. Though from Michigan originally, I had never spent much time in Detroit other than to go to a Tiger's game. This was a great location to see everything, a very short drive to downtown and midtown. Do yourself a favor and take a walk around the neighborhood to view the yard sculptors, community garden with geese, and grand old houses. This house stands out among them, though. Because of the peaked ceilings, you do have to watch your head when getting into bed or sitting in the big bean bags to watch TV, but not a big deal. My one suggestion would be better pillows. They were super flat. A Target run for new pillows would make this place perfect.
This was our second visit and we would definitely stay here again.
The location is ideal for Detroit tourism. The owner has done a wonderful job of restoring the Baer house and outfitting the studio for guests. The studio fits cozily in the attic space. The WiFi connection is strong and dependable, the bed very comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom are new and super clean.
