You are only 3km from the spectacular Lake Bled, which means in a 45min walk through beech woods you can be on the lakeside enjoying coffee, cake and the bustle of a truly European destination. In winter this part of Slovenia offers some terrific skiing opportunities in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The closest lifts are just 30min away.
Slovenia is well known as a family friendly holiday destination, with any sport you care to name readily available within the care of well qualified English speaking instructors. For example, in summer you may try white water rafting along the clear waters of the Sava River, get the best views of the Julian Alps from a tandem paraglide, fly fish, ride, cycle or walk endless routes. Winter holiday? Skiing for the family at great prices, ice climbing, snow shoe into the forest, all can be happily rounded off in one of the many bars and restaurants.
Our stay was great and the apartment was so much bigger than we'd thought. Both double bedrooms were good sizes and the two living spaces was very practical. Its a 10 minute short drive to Lake Bled, and it was easy doing so. I recommend!
We LOVED our stay at Bohinska Bela. The cottage was lovely and clean and the neighborhood was wonderful. Our stay in Slovenia was truly the trip of a lifetime and we will definitely be back! Thanks for providing such a wonderful location for us to stay!
Our rating is 4 stars.
We had a really enjoyable Slovenian week. The property was lovely, well located needing a car to support your travels. The cottage did everything we wanted and included some zany stairs! The fruit and bottle of wine were a great gesture. Good walking in the area, some lovely scenery, very dramatic! The local food establishments are a ten minute stroll away and provide huge hearty portions and great beer. The local village shop sells everything you need and local supermarkets are a short drive away. The owners were on hand if required and very helpful. There was really good information provided and good walking books and maps. All in all a great location and a really good holiday rental. Thanks!
House had character as did the village.
Lovely spot in beautiful region.
Really enjoyed our first visit to Slovenia.
Would recommend both the house and the region.
Good directions meant we found the property easily. The house was clean, comfortable and welcoming. We were greeted with food in the fridge and good information about activities to do in the area. The area is absolutely beautiful, the village quiet and peaceful but only a walk or short drive to Bled. We had a fantastic holiday and would definately recommend Slovenia, this area and house.
We've stayed three times, in late Spring, late Summer and over Christmas. Each time has been lovely. The house is comfortable and well equipped - as vegetarians who often cook for ourselves on holidya, we really appreciate a well-equipped kitchen. Bohinskja Bela is a nice little village about 10 minutes drive from Bled, though you can walk to Bled on footpaths through the woods in about 40 minutes. The neighbours are friendly and helpful. Even when there was lots of snow on the ground at Christmas the roads in the village were completely clear and it was easy to drive around - unlike in Britain!
The cottage has plenty of useful information, along with games, books and DVDs - and we've enjoyed some of these when we've wanted to relax after being out. The information we got before going was accurate and helpful.
There are lots of nice places to visit within about an hour's drive, and we would certainly recommend a car.
Bled itself is beautiful - fairytale in fact - with a lovely lake around which we have taken several nice walks. It's also got a swimming area. The island is worth a visit - don't forget to ring the bell. The castle is also worth seeing and the view over the lake is brilliant.
There are several restaurants in Bled and a great hotel (The Golf) for taking a leisurely Finnish (dry) or Turkish (wet)sauna (but be warned, all clothing is fobidden in the sauna!). It's a lovely feeling luxuriating in the outdoor hot tub, particularly when the air is frosty and there's snow all around.
There's always plenty of entertainment in Bled, from a little dance band in one of the hotels, at Christmas there are activities on the lake and there was a folk festival in the summer while we were there.
Lake Bohinj is also lovely and we had a wonderful walk around it in thick snow a couple of years ago.
Radovljica is a small town not far from Bled where there is a brilliant museum all about bee keeping with a display of the traditionally painted hives and selling some wonderful honey.
Ljubljana is well worth a visit. There's a castle and some museums (we saw a really interesting exhibition about the history of Slovenia) and the town centre has plenty of sights to catch your attention including the interesting bridges and the market and artisan stalls by the river.
We certainly intend to stay again and have recommended the cottage to friends and colleagues. Slovenia is unspoilt and not too touristy and the cottage makes a lovely place to stay.
Quiet village with terrific views and close to Lake Bled. The Triglav National Park, Lake Bohinj and ski centres are all nearby. Many kilometres of woodland and mountain trails and biking routes straight from the house. The Sava River is also famous for its fly fishing.
