Charming, Off the Beaten Path, Lovely Host
My wife and I stayed here in this charming studio apartment in the Nansouty section of Bordeaux. We were given the best greeting possible by the impossibly charming Madame Bessières who made sure that we were comfortable in every way possible, and gave us recommendations for dining and sight-seeing that never failed to deliver. Madame Bessières embodies the friendliness and openness of the "Bordelaises" and was always quick to respond to any need or question.
The apartment is clean, comfortable and has a beautiful outdoor area to sit down in a peaceful atmosphere and chill with a glass of wine.
Although the apartment isn't quite city center, the Nansouty area is an area that offers artisan bakery, pastry, and cheese shops and everything you could want to experience everyday Bordeaux within a 10 minute walk.
It takes a 10-15 minute bus ride to the center of town, and about 7 minutes to the Marché des Capucins where we bought fresh produce. .
The train station is an easy 5-10 minute walk
Overall, my wife are very grateful to M. Bessières who made us feel at home, and recommend the property to anyone who is looking to stay a little off the beaten path and experience Bordeaux in a more visceral way.
Bordeaux Surprise Package
After some initial concerns on the location, we realised that once you get your head around the bus system, it is really a great place. Quiet, convenient and good value. And of course Myriam is terrific. We loved our stay in Bordeaux. You will need 3 full days minimum.
Madam Bessieres was a super hostess with lots of useful information and tips.
The ground floor studio had everything you required plus a very comfortable large bed. Madam B was very generous in leaving lots of items for us to use/keep. The garden patio and seating was lovely to come back and relax in after a day out in the city. The number 15 bus stop on the road outside was great for getting around. It was good to have safe free parking in her garage/barn which was alongside the studio, though parking it through a couple of gates made us decide it was easier to just explore Bordeaux and use the very reasonable travel cards that we got from the train station, a 10 minute walk away. It was good to be able to have the choice to eat in or out.
We chose this place because it was located close to the main railway station and because it was also very close to the town centre. Bordeaux was a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay there. The apartment is one room plus a bathroom with a good outdoor area to relax. It was just perfect for us. However the best thing about this accommodation is the owner, who helped to make the stay a wonderful experience.
A garden in the city
What a charming and modern vacation apartment nestled inside an old farm barn! Our innkeeper, Myriam, was amazing. She met us at the train station and made sure all our needs were addressed and available. The apartment was comfortable and well kept with double doors to the garden with flowers and fruit trees. We had a lovely time.
Garden of peaceful beauty in the heart of Bordeaux
When we first arrived we thought our homeaway was in Bordeaux country land, that was our pre-concieved notion. We were taken back by the street that we found ourselves on. It was in the middle of this beautiful city. We found the entrance to the driveway back to a large garage. It was like being transported from the city to a garden in seconds. It was very secluded and peaceful garden with honeysuckles growing right outside your window. We sighed a big relief. This being our first big land trip to Europe; we were worried about navigating a big city. We were learning our first words of French. Madam Myriam was a delight. She had maps, brochures, wine and even a bus ticket to get us to the train station where we could by our 7 day all access pass from trains, buses and trams to go anywhere easily. She had her own map to show us how to go to the market, take the bus to the tram for easy access to the office of tourism in Bordeaux. Once there we were able to book wine tours, Bordeaux city bus tour with those headphones you can select your own language, and have WiFi available for free. She provided, of course, WiFi while at the studio apartment. The apartment is perfect for two. We enjoyed our week there and Madam made it a wonderful week by reducing stress with all kinds of information ready and at our disposal. She is just quite simply a true delight.
We will share our favorites and our picks for the right to buy local products, organic products, and the cheapest wine.
