A wonderful "Up North" Cottage
For many years we have taken our daughters and their families "Up North" for a week of relaxation. By far this has been our favorite get away location. The children love the beach and swing set. Of course the fire pit is a favorite every evening event after a fun packed day at the many local attractions. The spacious yard allowed us to add croquette before winding down at the fire pit. The house is fully stocked and beds are very comfortable. This is truly a great location for your family gatherings!
Beautiful location and house! Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at the Lakewood Lodge and hope to return! We were there for an IAA graduation and it was a great house for a mini family reunion. At peak we had 10 people and there was room for all. Everyone loved the place! Very nice house to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery of northern MI. This was at the end of May and unbelievably the lake was "warm" enough to swim in. Great little boat, wonderful sandy beach and a beautiful fire pit to sit around at night. We also thought the kitchen was well-stocked with all the dishes you need to cook for 10 people. The owner keeps a great house and is very responsive to emails - provides all the info you need before, during, and after the visit.
The property was very accurately described - and actually, more secluded than I had imagined, especially being on a lake - which was perfect! There were many areas to sit and relax - we spent time in the little "den" with the electric stove (it was cold when we were there and we had snow almost all days, even though it was May), we spent a lot of time in the living room with the wood burning fireplace, and tried to have a fire in the pit outside, but it was too chilly. But the firepit outside is well set up, comfortable. Next time we would love to use the boats (with the flooding this spring it wasn't possible). Very clean and well appointed. Only item I recall looking for were bedroom fans - we use them for white noise and airflow year round. Other than that, well appointed. Definitely looking forward to another stay soon!
Beautiful home on a great lake
We spent a week there and and although it rained almost everyday we had great time. The house was clean and comfortable and the lake was great. It was a ideal place to explore the all the treasures of Michigan's N/W coast, only minutes from Traverse City and the peninsula's and a great location to launch day trips to Charlevoix, Petoskey or Mackinaw.
Great retreat from the hustle & bustle!
We spent a week at Lakewood Lodge in June - two families with 7 kids age 8 and under. It was a fantastic place for our group! Plenty of space inside and tons of space outside. With a playset, lots of sand toys, a paddle boat and canoe, our kids were happy and entertained the entire week. The lake is relatively small, but very nice. The kids caught lots of fish, which was high on the checklist for our vacation. I was concerned we might feel crowded inside with our group, but it really was a perfect fit. The only real downside was the lack of access to a washer and dryer onsite (bummer with 7 kids!) - but we knew ahead of time and just packed more than we otherwise would have. Thank you Lynne and family for sharing your lake home with us. We highly recommend.
Great family vacation spot!
We really enjoyed our time here. The outdoor area is great. It has everything we wanted, boat and paddleboats. The lake is really lovely and quite large. Lots of places to sit outside. Bonfire setup was great. The house definitely has a log cabin feel which we loved. The rooms are very nice. We felt very much at home here and will defintely stay here agin.
