If that is what you are looking for, this is not the place. The industrial looking building looks across to everything you want to see - on the other side of the canal. Other than the hotel (quite lovely) and the women's prison next door, there are several blocks along the water front offering a number of causal restaurants and a small market. The market may not actually be that far, but after a flight from US to Paris, to Venice, to a taxi, to a water taxi, it seemed a very long walk. We opened the window to let in some fresh air. I fell asleep while my husband went to the market. By the time he returned, the the apt. was filled with tiny mosquitoes and I had a half a dozen welts on my face for the next 5 days. The apt. was clean and comfortable and the modern bath quite nice. The taxi dock is close and convenient as long as you don't plan a very late evening.
To get to the apt you have to fine someone to direct you to the building, then enter a dreary industrial hallway with a large central desk and not a chair, bench, anything else to welcome very exhausted travelers. Someone then leads you out of this building to another. The entrance was smaller, but equally dreary and institutional. I can only say that of the many places we have booked on line this was the first disappointment. For what we were looking for on our first visit to Venice, I would not recommend.
This apartment was just as advertised - clean, convenient, well equipped, and peaceful. Giudecca is lovely itself and I enjoyed a break from the hustle of Venice. Having a tub and a washing machine were special luxuries on my trip!
El apartamento exactamente como descrito, tuvimos una estupenda estancia, y realmente muy contentos con las condiciones del lugar, Daniella nos espero y explico lo necesario, muy simpatica, volveremos sin dudas..!!
This was our favorite rental so far in Europe - very comfortable & elegant. The location was perfect given access to the free ferry service to San Marco. Strolling along the waterfront in the evenings with a great selection of restaurants was a treat. We would definitely stay here again. Opted to go out for dinner & get up an hour earlier to take the Aliguna ferry to the airport & it was fine.
This apartment is much more than a holiday rental, the comfy furnishings, the high quality cooking equipment, even the small but impeccable selection on the bookshelf, all make you feel you are a privileged guest in a friend's home. We have self catered in Venice many times, even in another Molino Stucky apt.and this property is up there with best of them. If I had to find a negative it would possibly be the lack of canal views, but as we consider the rebuilt Stucky to be one of the latter day architectural gems of Venice, we were perfectly happy to gaze at the roofscape and secret facades to the rear of the building. We've always enjoyed staying on Guidecca and as we get older it has increasingly become our base of choice, lovely flat strolls, lots of seats from which to admire beautiful views across to Zattere, and a very easy hop over the canal to all the glories of Venice, museums , churches.art galleries, et al. As others have mentioned, the immediate vicinity provides numerous shops, restaurants and trattorie. Delightful Daniella was there to meet us and promptly sorted out our only problem, a power failure. We're very happy to give five stars.
We just returned from a wonderful seven-night stay at this lovely apartment in Venice. Every detail was considered and implemented: from the initial contact to the continued communication to recommendations to the cleanliness of the flat to the extra blankets, sheets and pillows, 24/7 access to the manager, Danielle. We are of the mindset that we are guests in someone else's country, and in someone else's home. Danielle does not speak English, and we do not speak Italian. When, within two hours of our arrival, we decided to shower and the handle broke in the tub and water was streaming furiously, we were relieved to locate a set of wrenches in an unlocked utility cabinet near the front door. Ten minutes later, after a couple of frantic texts to Danielle, she was in the apartment and on the phone with the owners. We had to wait close to 48 hours for the plumber, Danielle, and the new faucet. In the interim, we used the shower at the Hilton pool and had several contacts with the owners and Danielle offering apologies. The repair took 15 minutes, after which Danielle was scrubbing out the tub, taking every evidence of the repair with her. Things happen, faucets break. In a subsequent episode due to our jet-lagged brains refusing to fully function, I thought I had exchanged Danielle's key for mine and could not figure out how to get into the apartment. Again, Danielle was on the spot in less than 10 minutes and reeducated me on the art of unlocking a door.
I liked being outside of Venice and away from the tourists and crowds. The apartment is quiet. The neighborhood has a handful of restaurants, and a couple of grocery stores. The washer/dryer was key for the few things we needed to tide us over. I appreciated that former residents (owners and guests) left small items of necessity (shampoo, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, sugar, oil, vinegar) in the apartment so that we did not have to purchase these items. In like kind, I left a few items for the next family to stay.
Side Note: I would HIGHLY recommend the splurge for the private water taxi to and from the airport: we gladly sacrificed the cost of an expensive dinner for this luxury/necessity.
Tremendous experience from start to finish. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone (and have) or to return. Everything should be this easy!
