We arrived by Vaparetto and were greeted warmly by Daniella who insisted on lugging one of our rolling duffels to the apartment. Once inside we took the lift to our third floor accommodation. Once inside, it looked exactly as revealed in the presentation. Everything worked and there were no problems. We enjoyed being next to the Hilton complex which has the SkyLine bar, a not to be missed scene from which to enjoy a birds eye view of Venice proper. We enjoyed Guidecca (pron. Jew Deck ah) as we had never been before. The pubs and restaurants were quite good and there were minimal crowds, and we were there during Carnivale. Once you understand the Vaparetto schedules it is really quite simple and a breeze to travel to and from. As to the apartment, we had a cook top, coffee makers both Italian and French, a refrigerator, electric kettle, dishes and flatware; everything you need to cook at home. A suitable market is close by. We had coffee and small knoshes at breakfast time and some cheese and meats for a late night snack but we didn't attempt any real cooking. You hand wash all of your dishes, and there is plenty of drying rack space, but we were on holiday, to take a brake from kitchen duties. All in all, I would recommend this unit and others like it. There was plenty of room to spread out as even loving couples need their personal space from time to time. It was fun to get up on the morning next to the Fortuny factory and walk the fondementa while gazing at Venice proper, from the outside in.
You are always welcome
Beautiful Apartment in a great location.
Away from the crowds at San Marco yet immediately accessible via the complimentary shuttle boat to the center. Also, some great restaurants on Giudecca with unbelievable sunsets.
Beautiful apartment with everything you could possibly need
The owners were always very responsive to any queries I had. Daniela who met me from the Sacca Fisola water bus stop was very welcoming and friendly.
The apartment was very clean and looked well care for with out even the usual scuff marks. The bathroom was lovely and large with lots of towels.
There were lots of handy storage space throughout. And there was everything you could possibly need by way of utensils, crockery, glasses and cookware in the cute shutaway kitchenette. Who knew what was hiding behind the beautiful painted doors in the main room!
The furniture, soft furnishing, pictures and artefacts made the apartment feel more like a proper home, not a holiday rental. Very high quality feeling throughout the place. Air conditioning worked very well, overnight I turned it off in the bedroom but left it on in the main room as it could be a bit noisy.
Some people in previous reviews found the bed too firm, but it was perfect for me.
I have stayed previously in two other apartments in this Molino Stucky complex and although they had canal views, overall they did not come up to the standard of this apartment for comfort, furniture, contents and value for money. Loved it and plan to return next year. I highly recommend it
I love staying on Giudecca away from the hordes in Venice proper, there are s o n e good restaurants, cafes and bars, and some great food shops like the Coop supermarket, bread shop and greengrocers close to the Palanca water bus stop.
Fabulous apartment and location for visiting Venice.
We loved staying in Antonio's apartment - didn't want to leave! On the practical side - it was clean, great bathroom with lots of hot water and great water pressure, very quiet location, nice firm bed, well-equipped kitchen (we appreciated that there was some coffee, oil, vinegar, sugar available). In addition, the apartment is beautiful - the art, decorations and furniture make it a lovely space.
The check-in and out process was really easy and we were given great directions in terms of finding the apartment. The location is fabulous - we loved being on Guidecca - much quieter than the main island yet very simple to get back and forth.
The friday morning market is a 5-minute walk away and there are lots of great restaurants on Guidecca as well as interesting spots to explore.
We would definitely stay here again if we are so fortunate to return to Venice!
Hostess met us and was very helpful and kind. Limited english but enough to communicate with us. Location was ideal. quiet and comfortable. Overall, a great deal. Nice decorations and artwork, a relief from tacky hotel room art and decor. We used the kitchen a lot which was well equipped.
A neighborhood experience?
If that is what you are looking for, this is not the place. The industrial looking building looks across to everything you want to see - on the other side of the canal. Other than the hotel (quite lovely) and the women's prison next door, there are several blocks along the water front offering a number of causal restaurants and a small market. The market may not actually be that far, but after a flight from US to Paris, to Venice, to a taxi, to a water taxi, it seemed a very long walk. We opened the window to let in some fresh air. I fell asleep while my husband went to the market. By the time he returned, the the apt. was filled with tiny mosquitoes and I had a half a dozen welts on my face for the next 5 days. The apt. was clean and comfortable and the modern bath quite nice. The taxi dock is close and convenient as long as you don't plan a very late evening.
To get to the apt you have to fine someone to direct you to the building, then enter a dreary industrial hallway with a large central desk and not a chair, bench, anything else to welcome very exhausted travelers. Someone then leads you out of this building to another. The entrance was smaller, but equally dreary and institutional. I can only say that of the many places we have booked on line this was the first disappointment. For what we were looking for on our first visit to Venice, I would not recommend.
Good morning Sheila,
I only saw the review now and I do not know where it is over.
Molino Stucky is a beautifully preserved historic building, well restored and listed on all guides.
As for the arrival of the taxi or the public service from the airport leaves the guests 50 meters from the house and, if agreed, our office is waiting for your arrival.
The entrance of the palace on the ground floor is large and bright as the same width and brightness is the landing on the third floor.
Thank you for the suggestion of mosquitoes.
To me and other guests it never happened but we are arranging to put mosquito nets.
Luxuriously furnished apartment in Venetian style located in the ancient Molino Stucky, adjacent to the Hilton hotel where you can use the paid services (SPA Fitness club saunas).
