About the property

7 bedroom farmhouse in walled garden, 20 mins walk to Uzès centre

Mas Plantier is an 18th century farmhouse that has been completely renovated to a high standard, restoring the original stonework and beamed ceilings. On the edge of Uzès, just 1.5km from the Place aux Herbes market square, the house is set in a 1,500 m2 walled garden that provides complete privacy. The house can be comfortably shared by 2-3 families or a large group with plenty of space for each to enjoy their own privacy. It has 3 terraces (each with dining facilities) to enjoy the sun and shade at different times of the day, a gravelled interior courtyard, a separate swimming pool garden and a large, walled entrance area. The house has 400m2 of interior living space over 3 floors. The thickness of the old stone walls keeps the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The lounge has an open fireplace for cosy winter evenings. There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, 3 on the first floor and 2 on the top floor which provide nicely separated living areas if the house is shared by more than one family. There is plenty of space for parking several cars and it is a lovely 20 minute walk to the market square in Uzès in the busy summer months when it's easier to leave the car at home.

About Stephanie Berry

We are an English family but have spent over 15 years living in France. Our passion for France and the French lifestyle has led us to buy several properties in France ... this house was the first and remains our favourite place to be. Having moved back overseas in 2013, we decided to rent our home in Uzès for limited periods as unfortunately our visits from Australia are far fewer than they were from the UK!

Stephanie Berry purchased this house in 2002

Why Stephanie Berry chose Uzès

Whilst living in Paris, we decided to buy a holiday home in the South of France to escape city life at the weekends and enjoy warmer weather. We were recommended Uzès as a good base to explore the Languedoc region. Mas Plantier was the first property we visited and despite it being a complete wreck at the time, only habitable on one floor, we fell in love and made an offer the following weekend. Our friends and family thought we were completely mad to take on such a large project but sometimes a house just has the right feeling. We always had a vision of how beautiful it would be.

What makes this house unique

The house has an amazing ability to make everyone feel happy and relaxed and we have spent many wonderful holidays here enjoying the company of close friends and family. We love the privacy of being in an enclosed garden with no neighbours overlooking. We love being in walking distance of Uzès but in the calm of our own home. We designed the layout of the house and outdoor areas so that guests can find their own space when they want some quiet time alone. There are many areas to eat, drink, read and relax!

Our second stay at the wonderful Mas Plantier

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Mas Plantier, we loved it so much the first time we had to return.

We spent a glorious week in July at Mas Plantier. The property is well equipped and very comfortable, with plenty of space. We also found in and around Uzes plenty of interesting places to visit. With a short walk into Uzes the market days are definitely a must, enjoying local produce and the lovely cafes.

This time around we spread our wings a bit and dragged ourselves away from Mas Plantier and enjoyed a day out canoeing which was great fun and a great way to see the Pont du Gard away from the crowds on the river bank.

We are looking forward to another visit to Mas Plantier, as it is a perfect get away to be able to recharge the batteries.

This is a beautiful house.

  • 4 of 5

There are only 2 minor reasons why this is not 5 stars. The first is that if you advertise a house for a certain number of people, there need to be enough suitable poolside loungers for this number - especially in August. Secondly, mesh would be good on bedroom windows if there are not sufficient fans provided for all the bedrooms - bugs obviously present without this and without fans, the bedrooms can be warm if you are reluctant to open windows. Other than this - a brilliant house, lovely terraces, loads of in house activities (table tennis, boules,)The kitchen is very well equipped and showers brilliant. Great stuff.

We loved our stay in Uzes

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful, the beds comfortable, the kitchen had everything we could want. The pool was used every day and was a great feature. There were numerous terraces to relax , read or eat, or get away from the rest of the group. The walk in to Uzes was beautiful, we loved the town. Annie and Stephanie went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. We would go back!

Stunning house with 20 min walk to a fantastic market town

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely gorgeous property, decorated beautifully, plenty of space for everyone. Terrace from kitchen perfect for breakfast and dinner, lower terrace area shady and cool for lunch. The whole family enjoyed the property, shady relaxing corners for the older generation and the pool for toddlers - my son loved marching around the 'maze' in the garden! Stone house without air con keeps very cool so no worries there. House and kitchen extremely well equipped. The owners provided us 2 travel cots and one highchair which were good. We also had pool heated for the baby and toddler which the adults loved too! Very quiet rural location but with houses nearby. Nice 20 min walk to the town, quite an easy walk, slightly uphill in parts on way but no problem to push buggies there. Town absolutely gorgeous, lots of things going on - we went to the wine fair and the night market. The town was enough of a size to explore, plenty of lovely shops and restaurants. We had one hire car to do supermarket runs. I would highly recommend this property, we had a lovely stay.

Only minor downsides - the house seems to have a resident cat, we were given cat food on arrival, not ideal for people with allergies like myself but didn't affect our enjoyment. Also the place has loads of mosquitos while we were there (mid August), I would advise anyone to be thoroughly prepared with repellent etc.

Amazing, perfect for large groups of all ages

  • 5 of 5

Our large group of family and friends had an absolutely fabulous time at the farmhouse. The house and property are well taken care of with plenty of amenities and room for a full house of young and old to truly enjoy being together the whole week.

Given that we live in fairly cold climate - having all of our meals outside was a special treat. The chef we hired one evening gathered herbs & flowers from the property, which made the meal even more enjoyable.

The location is perfect for a healthy walk to town or a very easy drive. A few of us walked daily to town for morning pastries.

I highly recommend the property. Large or small groups, young or old - everyone will have a great time. Stephanie and Anne were both pleasures to work with. They even grocery shopped for us on our arrival day, allowing us to not rush out the door as soon as we got there.

We would definitely return in a heartbeat.

Great property!

  • 4 of 5

Very nice house with pool and garden, just a few minutes away from lovely Uzès. Ideal for spending quality time with friends and family as all rooms have private en-suite bathrooms and are quite spaced out from each other. The house contains everything you need (BBQ, ping-pong, games, toys, etc.) and the owner Stéphanie was extremely helpful and provided a lot of information before we arrived. I would definitely recommend this place!
