Two delightful cosy cottages in a supremely peaceful location

Owls Roost is an attractive beamed split level cottage with a small private patio, cycle store and utility room. It has direct access to the garden and has a cosy private feel. It can be booked with neighbouring and newly renovated stable cottage for a larger party of up 10/11.

Ground floor: Twin bedded room with pine furniture. Shower room/WC. First floor: Open plan characterful beamed sitting/dining room and kitchen. Double bedroom with high level built in bunk bed. Space for a cot in either bedroom. Quality furnishing throughout.

Children love the wooden cabin bunk bed , situated off the double bedroom and the large garden space with trampoline and friendly free range chickens .

Stable Cottage is finished to a very high standard with a lovely spacious open plan design all on the ground floor. It has oak floors and doors and a log burning stove in the lounge.

The kitchen is newly fitted and has a country style with a scrubbed pine table and settle bench seating.

There are two attractive bedrooms , a double and a twin .

The bathroom is fully tiled with a power shower.

It has a private outdoor patio with steps up to a small walled garden area leading into the main garden.

Beautifully finished ,newly renovated two bedroom cottage that sleeps up to 5 adults. High standard of fittings with oak flooring , log burning stove and a large open plan country style kitchen with a newly fitted kitchen.

Two smartly furnished bedrooms, one twin and a double with an additional fold down bed and cot if required.

When booked with cosy neighbouring Owls Roost will take a larger party of 9/10 adults.

We have lived in Snelston for 20 yrs loving its wonderful peaceful location, moving to Brook farm 7yrs ago to enjoy its special elevated position with open views and a wonderful garden which we share with our free range hens, dogs and visiting wildlife .Visitors to the cottages frequently here Owls that have given Owls Roost its name. Having little light pollution a clear night provides an incredible night sky for star gazers and any one interested should bring their binoculars or telescope.

What makes this cottage unique

We believe our cottages appeal to all those who want a high standard of accommodation in a rural setting as the location is extremely peaceful set on the outskirts of the quiet historic village of Snelston. Access is easy being a short distance from the A515 between Ashbourne and Sudbury and provides a great place to stay if visiting the Peak park, Alton Towers, or any of the other wonderful visitor attractions nearby. We can provide walking routes , cycle routes and storage and even house your horse .

Stunning Cottage and Surroundings

Family of six stayed here from 24-28 October 2016. Beautiful cottage, extremely well equipped and had everything you could possibly need for a home from home experience. The cottage has stunning surroundings and well situated for exploring, we booked our stay due to visiting Alton Towers and the Water Park, we were only ten minutes away by car and close to other amenities. Rachel and David are excellent hosts and made us feel extremely welcome. Would certainly recommend staying here and we will certainly return ourselves in the future.

Beuatiful Spot to relax

The property is in a lovely location surrounded by fields and was as good as the pictures look, inside and out. Ashbourne is handy too for provisions or if you feel the need for a town - but why would you when this is such a lovely place.

We had a famiy reunion and the property was well-equipped and to a high standard,so we felt quite spoiled with our children and grand-daughter all impressed with the property. The owners couldn't have done more to make us feel like welcome and valued guests.

all in all a 10 out of 10 experience.

A beautiful little cottage with everything you need.

We visited with our two boys (a 3 year old and a 9 month old) and had a lovely time. Stable cottage was clean, tidy, welcoming and had everything we required; including a box of toys and a shelf of books for the children! It is a really lovely cottage which is remote without being too far away from local attractions. We wouldn't have any hesitations in recommending to friends and family or, returning ourselves when next visiting Alton Towers!

One of the best cottages we've stayed in

This is a wonderful cottage. Fully equipped, great location, very nice stove fire.

Trampoline, football goal and chickens entertained the children while adults sat on the picnic bench drinking in the view, and a little wine.

Clifton, just up the road had a good pub.

Dovedale, just past Ashbourne is definitely worth a visit.

Heights of Abraham are a good day out.

Perfect cottage in a great area with lovely hosts!

Our family spent 2 weeks at Christmas in Stable Lodge and we had a fantastic time.

The cottage is excellently furnished and decorated, far better than you would expect from a holiday let, and is in a beautiful rural setting. A great spot for a country get away!

Ashbourne is a lovely little village, with loads of nice shops, cafes & pubs (The Old Dog in Thorpe was a stand out!) and minutes away from Dovedale and Carsington water, both well worth a visit.

The owners Rachel and David are super friendly and accommodating and made us feel really welcome in their gorgeous home.

We really enjoyed our stay, would highly recommend a visit and will absolutely be back!

Stable cottage and Owls Roost are two delightful cottages attached to our farmhouse set in a large garden and 6 acres of fields and woodland with views towards the Weaver hills. It is a supremely peaceful location nestling in the Derbyshire countryside 4 miles south of the ancient market town of Ashbourne, the gateway to Dovedale and the Peak District National Park. The cottage would suit anyone wanting a relaxing retreat but also those after an activity holiday with superb walking and cycling in the area along with many other activities such as rock climbing, caving, and watersports. There are endless scenic places to visit in the peak park starting with Dovedale a few miles out of Ashbourne.The Tissington, Manifold and High Peak Cycle tracks are very popular with excellent cycle hire available.The famous Alton Towers theme and water park is just a 15 minute drive away and Chatsworth Stately home and gardens just 45 mins away. Carsington water with its water sports walking and cycling trails is a short drive away.

Ashbourne itself offers an enjoyable shopping experience, with its stylish boutiques, antique shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and pubs and several excellent supermarkets. The nearby historic towns of Bakewell, Wirksworth, Leek and Matlock provide a similar experience and the famous spa town of Buxton has additional attractions such as the beautifully restored Opera House and Devonshire Dome and from there one can take a train to the centre of Manchester for a day in the city. Similarly for those wanting a bigger shopping experience we are also well placed to visit Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Birmingham.

The twin room has a large reclaimed pine wardrobe a small chest of drawers between the beds and a small shelving unit. Both bedrooms, being situated at the rear of the cottage are very peaceful.
