This spacious home was perfect for our graduation weekend! Betsy assured through constant communication that every one of our needs were met. The home was immaculate, well appointed and had a completely stocked kitchen. The adirondack chairs and fire pit were such a bonus! We only wished that we could have taken advantage of the kayaks and bikes, but it was actually pre-season for such activities. The view was absolutely stunning! We would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to return ourselves!
Thank you, Sharon! We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Heron House. It was a pleasure to host you!
Perfect getaway in the perfect location. Views and location were outstanding. We enjoyed the hot tub, playing cards, and didn’t turn the TV on once . Freeport was a great base point for the many day trips we took. We enjoyed day trips to Harpswell, Camden, Boothbay, Bath, and Scarborough. We enjoyed hikes at Bradbury and Wolfsneck Farm. We hope to return. The house was great for our three year old who loved playing outside on the swing and looking for treasures during low tide. The owners were pleasant and very accommodating. The house had lost power and we did not have power the first few days. They have a generator that works great and you would never know there was no power while you are inside enjoying the beauty of the home.,
This was a great house to stay at. The owners are awesome people and we’re plesant to rent from. The house has an amazing view with a beautiful sunrise every morning. It is a quiet home with shopping 10 minuets from the home. Would come back again and strongly recommend to anyone.
Tremendous place to stay
The pictures are accurate and the views from the property were amazing!
The house accommodated 4 couples with ease and the location was quiet and convenient to Freeport and Portland.
We would stay here again. The owners where helpful and so was the property manager.
My only caution is there are lots of stairs and steps so that may be a consideration for some.
House was amazing.
We went for a long weekend in late summer and was perfect. Every thing you could want for a nice relaxing vacation. House was spotless and yard was beautiful. Would definitely stay again.
Fantastic Views and House - 4.5 Stars
The house is great & large. All bedrooms good size. Unique floor plan & very functional. 3 Bedrooms have direct access to a bathroom. One full bath off the foyer area is on the small side, with limited storage and shower only, but fully functional. Master bedroom is huge as is the master bath, Great views from this room. The Town of Freeport is awesome. The Town is the headquarters for LL Bean. All kinds of upscale shops here and a short drive to the Town from the house. The views are FANTASTIC. Big bay windows on back to enjoy the views. We were very fortunate with perfect sunny weather for 3 days and in the low 70's in mid September. Great sunrises! But we also had heavy fog roll in so no views in the AM, but it burned off during the day. The tide goes out 2 times a day. So when it goes out the water is very low and tide goes out pretty far, but in the morning and evenings the tide is high. Great for KAYAKING with their boats at the property. That was so much fun. Also a Row Boat. The kitchen is HUGE, high end appliances, etc. and the home is stocked with every kind of utensil or tool you could wish for. Basement area has a Pool Table. Plenty of towels, linens, blankets, toilet paper, Teas, spices galore, iron and board. We drove to Glouster 2 hours away. Saw the Crows nest bar where the Perfect Storm movie depicted the loved ones awaiting the sailors fate there. Some people at the bar knew the sailors when that happened. Saw the Memorial and Statue in town and had a great lunch at the Sea port Grill I think was the name, almost right across from the Crows Nest. PERFECT place to eat and good views of the marina area. Cannot miss it if you are there. Portland is only about 20 minutes drive and everything you could want is there and we took the Harbor lights boat cruise to see all the lighhouses. You cannot miss a trip to the Portland Headlight light house museum. Very nice. Also Broken Arrow Tavern in Freeport, Very Good Eats!
The only reason this is a 4.5 star is preparedness for our arrival at the home was lacking BUT the house manager quickly remedied that for us and we were perfectly happy with the end result. There is a gravel road that leads to the home, but not long. Home sits fairly close to this road but little traffic. Again Views on back AWESOME!
Betsy and GAR owners of the house were very nice and answered all of our questions beforehand very quickly. Thank you so much. We would return!
Freeport, Maine is a favorite vacation destination for families who enjoy a great variety of outdoor activities. Without leaving Freeport, you can swim at a sandy beach, play golf, hike the picturesque coast at Wolf Neck State Park, visit a bird sanctuary or a working farm, or you can discover the curious Desert of Maine. You can have a traditional lobster dinner on the dock at Harraseeket Landing and of course you can shop endlessly in the outlet stores and L.L. Bean just a few miles into town. If you venture further north up the coast, you can visit a Maritime Museum in Bath, take an island cruise out of Boothbay Harbor, visit the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland and take in the famous works of art by Jamie, Andrew and N.C. Wyeth. And of course Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are well-known Maine landmarks on the must-do list. Other Activities: Shopping in the Freeport outlets!
