Enjoy our 100 year old home with large lawn in Heart Bay on beautiful northern Lake George. Lovely also in autumn, this quiet bay faces south, maximizing sun exposure. Dock space is included for your boat or just for sitting and relaxing. The water is shallow, with firm, sandy bottom, great for family swimming until circa mid-Sept. The spacious yard has a BBQ grill, lawn chairs and tables, and a swing/slide set.
Our guests love the screened-in porch and traditional 'sleeping porch'. The fireplace is made of stone and most of the downstairs walls are old knotty pine. The dining room is spacious, as is the living room with step down library (now a den with TV & VCR). Two bedrooms and one bath are downstairs; upstairs has one bedroom & one bathroom. There is a washer/dryer in the basement.
The kitchen is fully equipped with matching dishes for 12 (or more), microwave, dishwasher, and all the other things that should be in a kitchen. Washer & dryer are located in the basement.
An authentic, wood-burning, 'Finnish sauna' is available for one use per week if scheduled in advance with the owner.
We have been vacationing on Lake George for 50 years and have experienced many areas and cabins. Heart Bay is the premier area to stay in Northern Lake George. This cabin is perfect for a large family who enjoys rustic charm. We went up with my brother's family, 8 in total. Everyone had privacy and a comfortable bed to sleep on and the washer/dryer, 2nd bathroom, dishwasher, screened in porch and docking for 2 boats made it a dream! From the sparkling water to the amazing views- this home is a 10!
We spent a relaxing week with our family at this beautiful spot. It was the perfect place for a quiet family get together. From the dock there are beautiful views of Lake George and the surrounding mountains, easy access to Snug Harbor boat rentals as well as Ticonderoga (10 minutes - for groceries and area history). Hiking trails are close by too. Cooks mountain trail head is just down the street. It is a bit of a climb but was worth the view of the lake from the top.
This is a great spot to explore the lake by boat, sight see, tube, or just relax and swim from the dock. The owners Roberta and John really made us feel at home. They live on the property but the home is located to provide as much or as little privacy as one might want.
The home has a lot of character and history and has been maintained very well. It is stocked with anything one might need pots pans utensils, dishware, extra sheet blankets, towels etc. The kitchen was cozy but very efficient and there was plenty of space in the house for the 5 of us plus our son’s dog (John and Roberta are very pet friendly). Even though there was a good size dining room, living room and den we especially enjoyed the large screened porch.
The porch is set up as an eating area as well as a very comfortable sitting area looking out over the well maintained long green lawn to the lake. Trees boarder both sides of the lawn and provided a few animals to watch early morning and at dusk. This became our favorite place for meals. And the sitting area was quiet spot for early morning reading, coffee or just sitting and chatting after a long day of exploring one of most breathtaking lakes we know.
We really want to thank John and Roberta for a memorable week and for sharing their property on Lake George.
We stayed at this home the first week of October 2011. Sometimes it is hard to rent a property online as you do not get a true picture of the home. We were so very pleased with this home and the owners. The pictures are true as to what to expect. The lawns to the lake were great. There were many chairs to sit on and a great dock to sit on or put your boat. The home was wonderful. Plenty of room. The owners had the home well supplied with linens, blankets and much to our surprise: dish soap, napkins, salt, pepper, paper towels, all the things that we always had to bring with us in all the other homes we had rented. The kitchen was well stocked with everything from pots and pans to dishes - the dining room was well used as it was large and looked over the lake. We had cool nights so the fireplace was a real plus.
The owners were on the property to answer any questions but at the same time gave us our privacy. They even recommended places to eat, etc.
We had a nice, relaxing vacation and will return to this wonderful property.
Beautiful location... quiet and peaceful... our hosts were very warm and friendly... even let us borrow a cup of sugar :) The screened in porch was wonderful... and our little maltese enjoy the property! It was wonderful to sit by a fire in the cool fall evenings and relax!
