Now the new home of Green Mtn. Falconry! Once the country estate and studio of famed painter and fly fishing enthusiast Ogden Pleissner, Boorn Brook Farm has been restored to its original splendor. Situated on 54 acres of open meadows and old apple orchards with stunning views, Boorn Brook Farm is protected by Lye Brook National Forest, yet within the town limits of Manchester Center.
The French inspired barn, built in 1820 has wide-plank floors, hand-hewn beams, soaring ceilings, stone fireplaces and New England charm. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a country vacation for a small family or a quiet retreat to nature, Boorn Brook Farm is the quintessential Vermont experience!
In the summer, take falconry lessons on site, swim in the spring-fed pond with a beach, play tennis on the private court, hike on the private trails or in the bordering Lye Brook Wilderness, fish in the brook, or simply relax in one of the hammocks. In the winter, skate on the pond, sled on the hill, snowshoe or cross country ski on the back trails, downhill ski or snowboard at nearby Stratton or Bromley Mountains. Return home to build a roaring fire in the stone fireplace, bake some bread in the stone bread oven, play a game of pool, sip some hot chocolate and then watch the sun set behind Equinox Mountain from the hot tub, right outside your master bedroom!
Children and adults alike will also enjoy our farm pets, Lola the Brown Swiss Cow, old Ender the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and our new adorable goats, Pan and Axle!
I own the local movie theatre, so your movies are free when you stay on the farm!
Shelly purchased this barn in 1999
Because once you get here, you won't want to leave! I wrote down our fantasy list of features I wanted in a property and was stunned to find it all! I wanted a white house with a porch, a red barn, mountain views, meadows, a pond, a brook, sledding hill, stone walls, hiking trails, close to skiing...and all of it in town! Living here is like living in a postcard!
Boorn Brook Farm is very secluded, yet right in Manchester. This is also my home. I cater to couples and small families. No large groups - don't even ask! I strive to provide a relaxing, peaceful and homey retreat for all of my guests!

a permanent home in our barn! We simply copied them to this website for

Our family with two kids had a wonderful visit this weekend. Your farm is gorgeous and the picture of VT living. Thank you so much for hosting us and for creating a magical environment that you are willing to share with visitors such as ourselves.
Shelly, we had at great stay at the farm. The accommodations and welcoming committee (Lola/Pan/Axel) were excellent. We look forward to a future stay. I had read a prior review about noting possible improvements and the only thing I could think of was maybe improving the loft bedroom so a second couple would have a nice comfortable bed. Thanks again, Jim and Jody.
Great house and fantastic host! We loved it; our kids loved it; our dog loved it. Definitely want to come back. Thanks very much for allowing us to stay in your house.
Gorgeous setting, perfect house, lovely hosts, super cool animals! We had so much fun last week at this beautiful farm right outside of Manchester, VT. There are so many things to do on the property tennis, swimming, hiking and falconing just to name a few. Our children really enjoyed Lola the cow, Pan and Axel the goats and of course Ender the Swiss mountain dog. Thanks to Gail for the super dining suggestions and for taking such great care of us. We can't wait to go back and visit this very special place again.
My husband, teenage son, and I visited BBF for a wonderful long weekend in June. The property was absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Our hosts, Jeff and Shelley, were attentive and welcoming from our first email inquiry through our stay. We appreciated the honey Jeff shared with us from his apiary. YUM! We loved daily visits with the goats, Lola the cow, and of course good old Ender. We enjoyed exploring all Manchester and the surrounding area had to offer inclufing fly fishing, falconry lessons and a delicious gourmet meal at the Silver Fork. Returning home to BBF for a game of pool or a tranquil star filled soak in the hot tub was a treat! We cannot wait to return one day!
This was an absolutely beautiful property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Jeff and Ender were so welcoming and helped make our stay really memorable. Ender (the Swiss Mountain Dog) was so dear, we didn't want to leave him. The property is the perfect location, close to town yet out in the beautiful countryside. We will definitely come back to this beautiful place.
