About Hazel Alley

I grew up in Bar Harbor and lived in the house just next door. We began renting the cottage in the 80's for 6mos

out of the year to help pay for the mortgage and insurance.

We spend the summer months at Beachhill Pond in Otis, Maine with our two english springer spaniels. We are both retired now but we don't go to Florida winters. We enjoy the 4 seasons on MDI with our family and friends. We are very fortunate to have had such nice renters over the years that have respected our house and have returned year after year to enjoy the Island. For their return patronage and repect for our home we are truly greatful.

Hazel Alley purchased this cottage in 1974

Why Hazel Alley chose Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island

Our cottage is a home away from home. We provide everything you need to make your vacation complete. This includes linens, dish and laundry soaps, pots, pans, gas grill, washer & dryer, Lobster cooker and much much more.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Hazel,

We came for a week and wanted to stay for the summer! We love the cottage - your attention to detail is everywhere!

It quickly became our "home away from home". Thank you for sharing with us. We take with us great memories of Acadia Nat'l Park and Bar Harbor, as well as Cove Cottage. We'll certainly be sending our friends and family this way.

Memories

Perfect getaway, Hazel took care of every little detail! The only thing we had to bring was ourselves & groceries. The quaint cottage is warm, comfortable, and inviting and you can't ask for a better location. Beautiful sunrises right outside your living room window & a couple of adirondack chairs outside with a cup of coffee sets you up for a perfect day!

Just Right

  • 4 of 5

This place was perfect for my wife and I. The house is just down the road from Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia so the trail heads for hiking were easy to get to. Bar Harbor is just 2miles east so you can get to town in minutes. Clean, comfortable and convenient are the best adjectives to describe Hazel's cozy little place. Sunrise over the water was a pleasant surprise on a morning when I woke up early. Sat right in the living room and took it in. We really enjoyed our stay!

Perfect Spot for Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Cove Cottage for our family vacation. In conjunction with touring New England, we spent a week in Bar Harbor. The home was perfect! Clean, stocked, and conveniently located, we spent days in Acadia and in town.

The cottage is located near the upper entrance to Acadia and super convenient to town. There is a grocery store down town and many restaurants to supplement. We hiked, swam, rented bikes, fished, whale watched, played mini golf, visited tide pools, and shopped.

The cottage was a great place to unwind after a busy day. Comfortable beds, cable TV, plenty of towels, wifi, located across from a beach - all wonderful!

Owner was very accommodating and provided quick answers. Deposit refunded quickly. We had a marvelous time - thank you!!!

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect house for our family and we can't wait to go back! It is SO clean and comfortable. You can't beat the location, especially if you will be taking advantage of the Island Explorer bus, which departs from the very close Hulls Cove Visitor Center. We have 2 children and they looked forward to an afternoon swim after hiking each day. I wish I could give it more stars - it was ideal in every way.

Great location, great rental!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have picked a greater location! The house was perfect for my husband, myself and our two daughters. The house was clean, well stocked of anticipated supplies. There is a nice sized side yard for the kids to play in and the driveway was large enough for them to scooter in as well!

We just returned home this weekend and we're all ready to book our vacation for next year in the same house! The view is outstanding, and we had no issues leaving our windows open at night. It's nice and quiet. We were only a few minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and the drive is just beautiful.

We did frequent the pizza shop that is down the street and the prices were very reasonable and we also ate at the restaurant across the street and the prices were not overpriced.

Highly recommend this house and the area in general. We all had an amazing vacation and did not want to leave!

Hazel does an amazing job with everything that she has at the house for you to use!
