What an incredible spot and beautiful home!...We have had the most wonderful week…For the kids, the highlights remained meeting the deer on the first evening and swimming from the pier...

Over the years we have rented lots of vacation homes, but this was by far, the cleanest and most comfortable home we have ever stayed in. We had a wonderful week just relaxing. There is an italian restaurant within walking distance that has the best ravioli since my grandma's. The boat rental yard, also within walking distance, was so helpful. We rented a boat that broke down on the lake and they came and towed us back in and gave us another boat for the next day at no extra charge. We can't wait to go back and explore the area further.

So relaxing - perfect family vacation

  • 5 of 5

A perfect week with our 2 young kids (4 years old and 16 months). Some of our favorite things from the week:

We saw deer in the yard and pulled up crawdads from the dock. The kids were of course super excited about both. The crawdads seemed to like sausage, so we caught between 0-3 per night (maybe the same ones over and over again!). The Fall colors were just starting, but the most spectacular sight was a large, low orange full moon on our way home in the early evening from Chester. A snapshot did not do it justice. We also made day trips to Lassen (where my husband and son hiked to Cold Boiling Lake) and to Round Valley Reservoir (where they caught some sunfish). We had fun exploring Chester - the candy shop, pie shop, and restaurants (the Tavern was our favorite dinner). The best was just hanging out at the house, not turning on the TV in lieu of doing "projects" (Legos, shrinky dinks, etc), and soaking up the pretty view to the lake from the lawn/porch. Such a great time!

We want to return soon and kept thinking how pretty this place would be with snow on the ground, too. Thanks to the Curry Family for sharing this gem with us.

Pure Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time my family and I have stayed (4 adults & 2 children) at this beautiful home on Lake Almanor. First, let me say, the owners are wonderful to work with, they are personable, so helpful and their main goal is that you are 100% comfortable and they clearly achieve this. The house is situated in a cove with a great front lawn for children, a nice dock and a peacefulness unimagined. The home itself is warm and inviting, always spotless and has every amenity you need for a perfect vacation. This is a great home for children to just have a good time. The location is perfect with easy access to the marina, a small, but well-stocked grocery store very close and a nice restaurant. Our family has rented many home over the years for boating vacations and this is our absolute favorite and we will be returning again and again! A huge thank-you to the owners for allowing us to share in this little piece of heaven.

Perfect Vacation at Lake Almanor

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect week at Lake Almanor...the beautiful home, the boating, the dock, the was a fantastic vacation and we can't wait to book a week for next summer! This home was just as described...actually it is better and how often does that happen? It is a step back in time with all the comforts of today! We have stayed at various homes on Lake Almanor (including in the Country Club) and this was by far the best. The owners are just the most helpful and generous people, even going with my husband to the marina when we had issues with our boat. In the past year and half, we have been to Europe (St. Regis), Hawaii (Westin on Kauai), Southern Cal. (Sheraton) - all wonderful hotels and our week at Lake Almanor was by far our favorite! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!! We will definitely be back!!

Perfect Home and Location

  • 5 of 5

For our first vacation with both our 4 year old and 11 mth old, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The house is absolutely beautiful and obviously well taken care of.

It has everything, a secure boat dock that is easily accessible from the launch, a large lawn with a horse-shoe pit and bacchi ball for outdoor play, a great deck with loungers & strategically placed umbrella's for relaxing and viewing the lake, or the deer that visit daily (I'd be there every day too if I could). Every detail has been considered in the layout and amenities. Kitchen is well stocked, and there are music, movies, games and books galore. This was a great place for a family with littles, or I would say for older kids as well.

With much thanks to the personalble and very lucky owners, we got info on the local market, the local ice cream parlor, Paul Bunyan's mini-golf as well as a fantastic italian restaurant Tantardino’s - all withing walking distance! The information the owner provided prior to our stay was really invaluable.

We were coming in late on the first day of our stay - I knew we wouldn't have time to make a dinner or the patience to take 2 cranky munchkin's to a restaurant, so the owner recommended ordering rotissery chickens in advance from the Peninsula Market, which couldn't have worked out better.

Although we didn't catch many fish, we had a great time out on our boat - this house is great for boat owners, but I would suggest arriving early enough time to launch your boat before settling in. Backing down the driveway with a boat over 18 feet is challenging. It can be done though! Our's is 21 ft. not counting the trailer and we made it.

This place is great, the weather was perfect, we had a fantastic time, and we will return! This place is money well spent....
