Why Avril How chose Salzburger Land

The area is fantastic for holidays year-round - summer relaxing, mountain walking, cycling, running, horse riding, golf and a winter wonderland for skiers, snowboarders and the longest toboggan run in Europe - 14km.

Easyjet flights from Manchester to Munich - only 2hrs 20mins from Munich to our Haus. Also flights from London Airports to Munich, Salzburg or Innsbruck.

Being in the Hohe Tauen National Park is all about replenishing your zest for life, wellbeing, eating delicious local produce, enjoying a drink in a Beer Garten or local bar, having fun, seeing the sun, breathing the clear air, walking up a mountain, skiing down a deserted piste, or biking alongside the river...come and see for yourself!

What makes this chalet unique

The breathtaking views and stunning scenery make Haus Kammern unique....being in the Hohe Tauern National Park you can see some amazing wildlife including eagles, red deer and marmots. In just a few minutes you can walk out the front door and head up a mountain or take a stroll along the river in the valley, hop on the local train to the spectacular Krimml waterfalls, have fun in the swimming lake with play area, tennis and volleyball facilities, hire a bike for mountain or easy cycling...it's a real gem! In the winter we have the longest toboggan run/rodelbahn in Europe, great skiing, snowboarding, spas and apres-ski.

A stunning property in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Our first family trip to Austria in August 2014 and we were not disappointed. The chalet itself is beautiful with plenty of space and it has a lovely welcoming homely feel. The views from the balcony are amazing!

The owners Avril and John really have thought of everything to make the chalet comfortable for their guests. They made the trip so easy with lots of information and great communication before we started our holiday.

The chalet was only two and half hours drive from Munich Airport and provided a great opportunity to take in the grandeur of the mountains on the way in to the stunning Austrian chalet. Haus Kammern is perfectly located to take advantage of the breath taking scenery that the region has to offer. There are so many local attractions which are a short drive away including the majestic Krimml Waterfalls, the Emerald Trail and access to ski lifts to the top of the mountains only 5 minutes drive away! The stunning lakeside town of Zell am See is only 30 minute away and a little further (just over 2 hours) is the historic and beautiful Salzburg - a must if you have seen the Sound of Music!! More locally (5 minutes walk) is Mulbach where there is a bakery and great place to get something to eat and drink called the Batzinger. There is also an outdoor swimming pool with a cafe and restaurant attached with the most picturesque backdrop of the mountains. The restaurants in Mittersil and Bramberg were reasonably priced with very good food with large portions!

We have fallen in love with Haus Kammern, the beautiful mountains and surrounding area and would love to return in the summer or winter to try the skiing here! Overall a really beautiful and convenient place to stay, we had a fantastic holiday and there was lots to do. Highly recommended! Thank you Avril and John!

Superschönes Haus, wir waren begeistert!

  • 5 of 5
