Overview

Shelburne Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Sleeps 6 - 1 BA, Kitchen, LR & Full glassed in porch facing the lake and sunsets

Enjoy a true VT, old time 1920's camp on the lake! One of the very last ones ones left! Many of the original features have been retained, but with updated, modern bath and kitchen. The camp is very comfortable, but not fancy in any way. Please look at all the pictures posted here. Laugh at the funny 1920's linoleum, but enjoy brand new beds and 100 ft right on Lake Champlain in quaint village of Shelburne. Kitchen is equipped with enough plates and pots, etc for a big party, but don't look for fine china and matching everything! Fabulous western views of the Adirondacks & sunsets. Fully equipped kitchen. Private beach with steps to lake. Great level lawn for kids and sitting in your lawn chair. Well behaved pets most welcome! . Quiet, private community. Casual, perfect spot to relax. No worries about damaging fancy furniture or carpets. Close to Shelburne Farms and Burlington.

Why Esther Fiddes - CyberRentals Member since November 1997 chose Lake Champlain Valley

My family purchased this property in 1955. At the time, the entire area was summer camps! We are the last camp left on Shelburne Bay. It is a classic camp. Please look at the pictures carefully. This is not a fancy, modern house! The beach is rocky, and sometimes the lake is high. The water is clear, the views spectacular. Come and enjoy a real VT camp!

What makes this cabin unique

Last of its kind in this area. Beautiful private location. But understand you are renting a camp! Not a sanitized carbon copy hotel room!

Adored our stay! Can't wait to return!

This camp is such a jewel. It's so cozy and warm and has everything you could want; the true Vermont camp experience I remembered from my youth and wanted to recreate for my children. We had a fire in the fireplace several nights and BBQ'd outside. The porch is perfect for sleeping or eating. We lazily floated on air mattresses in the lake.

Excellent location for access to Burlington or Shelburne. We searched high and low for this experience. This is one of the few camps left that is right on the lake and convenient to everything. Just a jewel! Can't wait to come back.

Cozy Camp

  • 5 of 5

Had a perfect getaway with my family. This place was very clean and comfortable. It has everything a camp needs and amazing views of the lake. Watching the sunset was a highlight to every evening. The price was right and we are planning another stay with friends this Summer.

Unfortunate rental

  • 1 of 5

Unfortunately the description does not quite match what you find. Lacking in furniture, comfort, and cleanliness.

With a little care this could be great unfortunately we felt misled and extremely disappointed. There are really no amenities. The TV buzzes the rocks and stairs to the water are treacherous there is one chair with a cushion the rest are folding chairs. The beds are new mattresses with no box springs. We rented it for three weeks to visit with our grandchildren and hoped they could stay with us that was impossible.

Owner's Response: Very sorry to read this review, which is both unfair and unjustified. I had many email conversations with these people to explain exactly what to expect before they booked. There ARE box springs on all the regular beds, the high riser,by nature of its construction, does not. It is like a sofa bed. There are two couches in the living room,in addition to a soft chair. We have a wonderful cleaning person, but you will never get an almost 100 year old camp to look like sterile motel room. I explained this to the lady multiple times. The steps are safe, but the lake was extremely high,so the better part of the beach was covered with water. We obviously have no control over the water level in the lake. We get many folks with children, and we are there with our grandchildren. Sadly, you cannot please everyone. At no time did these folks contact us about any problems. Certainly we would have sent cleaning person back out to correct any issues, had we been made aware of them. There is nothing wrong with either tv,but Directv is not always perfect. Again, out of my control Every detail of the camp is listed in the ad, as are clear pictures of every room. Other than a dishwasher, all the normal things one needs to be comfortable are there. Our ad describes everything, and I endeavor to explain fully through emails and calls. These people stated they "were looking forward to a rustic vacation". Clearly, they were not .An after the fact, anonymous, unkind post, helps no one.

quaint and cozy

  • 5 of 5

Loved the location, views galore! Sitting on the porch, or on the lawn was so relaxing and all the amenities one would need are right there. Clean and well-maintained for a 1920's cabin, who could ask for anything more? Thanks!!

hardscrabble camp

  • 2 of 5

The location and view from this house are great but everything else is lacking. The beds and furniture are very uncomfortable, the floor is cracked linoleum and the interior needs painting. We have stayed

at two other lake champlain houses that had narrow, but sandy beaches. The rocky shoreline makes swimming very difficult, even with water shoes. We enjoyed our stay in spite of the house ,which should not be the case.

Perfect low key family get away!!

  • 5 of 5

As you drive down the driveway to this quaint camp, you are presented with a breath taking view of Shelburne Bay, complete with sailboats and mountains! The dogs raced out of the car and directly into the lake, quickly followed by the kids. We love being able to sit on the porch and watch the sunset over the lake while we eat dinner. The cabin is well appointed, with everything you could ask for. Perfect for families with kids or pets! I can see coming back every year! Thanks for sharing such a special place!
