About the property

Our 5 bedroom freestanding home is located close to route 93 in a private, densely wooded community with a multi-million dollar community center. The center has 2 indoor pools, 2 outdoor pools, an indoor jacuzzi, 2 outdoor hot tubs, 2 saunas, an exercise room, game room, basketball court, and tennis courts. There is also a bar and a restaurant. There is a small ski area within the community as well as cross-country trails. A small clear lake provides beautiful swimming and there are paddle boats for your use. The house is about 10-15 minutes from Loon Mountain, Waterville Valley and 30 minutes to Cannon. In warmer weather, there is wonderful hiking in the White Mountains National Forest. Wonderful sunsets on the deck overlooking the mountains!

Linens and towels are provided. There are pots, pans, dishes, glassware, silverware, etc. for your use.

Nice way to start the new year!

We were very happy for the most part with our stay here. We happened to pick one of the coldest weeks ever, but the sun was shining through the spacious windows and we really did enjoy the "beautiful mountain views" as stated in the title! One issue we did have was that the house was quite cold when we first arrived. The owner was very kind to order some extra space heaters for the lower floor, which helped a lot. It would have been nice though if the heat would have been turned on before we arrived, as the first night was rather cold. The location was very nice and in spite of the cold weather some of us managed to ski at the local ski hill close to the house. The roads were icy and our smaller cars couldn't manage to make it up the steep hill leading to the house (the shortest way), so we had to find an alternative way to come. Instructions on getting to the house via a less steep road would have been helpful.

This would be a nice place in the summer also.

This was a big and spacious home for us with 4 families together.. It was well maintained, self sufficient with lot of amenities. Came ask for more.

Everything you need.

The house is great; two living rooms plus a quiet sun room to get away. Two queen bedrooms on the main floor and two more plus the room with 2 bunks, on the lower level, all with great comforters. Our only issue was the inconsistency of the internet. The area is quite hilly with no outdoor play area at the house, however, the community center is awesome! The pools are beautiful ( one pool for adults only) and there is the small pond area with lots of room for the kids to run around. It's a 2 or 3 minute ride from the house. You could even walk there. We had a great stay; went to Santa's Village, Polar Caves, zip-lined at Loon Mtn, and hiked.

Loved the house

Great place for a mini vacation!!! There were 8 kids and 5 adults and this WAS PERFECT!!!! we were not crowded, we all had our own space. Dryer wasn't working and I contacted the owner ( who were so helpful!) And they had a new dryer delivered the next day. This was our first time in New Hamshire, I only gave a 4 star because of the back area. I just wish there was an area for kids to go out and run around... House itself would be a 5 :) . thank you again for a great stay!

Wonderful Home for a Weekend Getaway

My friends and family have been staying here almost every year since 2008, and we've always had an amazing time. The open floor plan on the first floor provides a great deal of space in the kitchen, dining room, and living room for us to socialize and connect, without feeling cramped. The 5 bedrooms are spacious and have provided plenty of room for all of us to sleep comfortably.

The house is also very close to Loon, Waterville Valley, and Cannon, and we've had the opportunity to ski at all of these mountains throughout our stays.

We've always felt extremely welcomed and accommodated by the owners, which is why we've continued to come back after all these years.

Tread Cautiously

I have no complaints about the home itself. It is dated, but there is adequate space and furnishings to make for a comfortable stay. The price per night is very reasonable as well.

My biggest piece of advice: extensively document the home upon arrival. I felt somewhat uneasy when asked for a security deposit larger than what I have usually paid for weekend rentals. I even made a point of taking photos of the home upon arrival to document the condition of the home. There were problems with the home that I wanted to address with the owners upon arrival, so I emailed them through Homeaway, but I never received a response.

Our stay was uneventful, or so I thought.

Two weeks after leaving, I still had not received my deposit back. I emailed the owner and received a reply that I would not be receiving my deposit because of a broken sliding glass door. I was surprised that I had to contact the owner to discover that there was a problem.

No one in my party caused this damage, but none of my initial photos of the home captured the door in question, so I have no proof. I have little recourse but to share my story and prevent this from happening to others.

I'm very frustrated with myself for not better documenting the home on arrival. You'll be happy with the rental for the price, but I strongly suggest that you take meticulous photos and videos of the home upon your arrival to ensure that you get your security deposit refunded to you. Better safe than sorry.

Owner's Response: We have been renting our home for approximately 12 years. We have really enjoyed most of the renters and have numerous guests who have been returning for years. Unfortunately, we have had incidents where our home and property have been damaged. Unless I am able to determine without question the individuals responsible, I do not withhold money from their security. In instances where there has been no question that a renter has caused damage, most will still adamantly insist that they were not responsible, regardless of how impossible that is. In this case, I was informed by our property manager that he had been in the house prior to the rental and the slider door was intact. When he arrived to inspect the home immediately after the rental, there was a large crack in the door. I also contacted our cleaner who confirmed that the door had been intact prior to this rental. It was not simply a hairline crack, but there was a sizeable break in the door. It could NOT have been missed. The security deposit of $500 is not exorbitant, but standard. We had charged less in the past, but have been forced to change the amount since we have had damage which far exceeded the security. I have told this renter that I will get an estimate on the replacement of the door, and as soon as I do, I will immediately refund any portion of his security that remains. I did receive an email from the guest concerning the tv not working in the downstairs area. I responded to his issue immediately, as I ALWAYS do. I cannot explain why he did not receive my response. For any emergency issues, I have two phone numbers listed as well as the contact information for the property manager. As far as the house being dated, we redid the entire downstairs of our home less than 2 years ago. All of the bathrooms have been updated and the flooring has been replaced. The group which rented our home immediately prior to this individual, was a returning guest who wrote to tell us how nice our newly completed renovations on our downstairs bathroom looked. It is of note, that this guest threatened me with writing a bad review if I didn't return his money. I told him to write his review because I would not be blackmailed.
