First Xmas in Tahoe

  • 5 of 5

Our family came up from the bay area to spend Xmas in Tahoe for the first time. This house was perfect for our four adults and one child. We got to bring our dog which was also awesome. Though there is no fenced yard, there is plenty of room in the back for dogs to explore. The neighbors are all nice and dog friendly as well. The sauna was a real treat and the beach across the street was just amazing. We brought games but there were a bunch already there so next time we do not have to haul ours up with us. There were flay screens everywhere except the room with the bunk beds. No big deal as we tried not to watch much television. The internet is a bit slow so we were lucky not to have to do any remote work or schoolwork. Not a big deal either. The huge tub upstairs was divine seeing as I am 6' 1" and rarely find a tub big enough to accommodate me. The location of the property was a little confusing. We came in at night and our GPS put the property further down the street but Allee was super helpful when I called a bit confused. She was really helpful through the whole process and I would highly recommend dealing with her. You will not be disappointed. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, a beautiful house and the only thing we could have asked for was snow! Next year we will hopefully be able to do it again.

This home needs some maintenance!

  • 2 of 5

We are not sure if the owners visit the home very often because if they did we would think that basic maintenance would be taken care of. The fee to rent the home warrants the expectation that the following would be in order upon arrival:

Clean windows

Working/good condition mini-blinds

Light bulbs in fixtures

Patio umbrellas represented in photos were not on site

Front door lock needs repair - doesn't lock appropriately

More eating utensils needed

Only 1 door key provided in lock box (and it was also for the realtor - the home is for sale!)

If I owned a vacation rental I would feel responsible to have the place in tip top shape!

Looks really inviting on the outside but very worn & weary on inside.

  • 2 of 5

The inside is very dark & dingy and the cleaning company that prepared for our visit missed the mark, especially in the kitchen. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, many pots & pans were put away with crusted food still on them. The utensils were minimal put in disorganized dirty drawers. It was difficult to prepare meals with limited items to complete preparation. Fuses blew in the kitchen & there were no instructions on the location of panels, so appliances had to be moved to make toast & coffee. Also, the ice maker did not work in the frig so ice had to be purchased almost daily. The whole place just didn't feel like others vacation rentals we have stayed at that had fully stocked kitchens, clean blinds, screens on windows without cobwebs, beach chairs, & umbrella. The other bedrooms also need fans as leaving the windows open for air on the road with traffic & construction going on most evenings. On the patio, the hot tub had dirty water in it & only one jet that worked & the BBQ burner on the right side had to be lit by hand each time we cooked. Lastly the front door jam was split around the frame making it difficult to lock each time we left. All in all this place provided a place for our family to meet but the challenges diminished our enjoyment of making meals together & relaxing. It wouldn't take much to freshen up this place & make it worth the money charged but unless things changed I wouldn't bring my family back their again.

Comfortable stay for our family

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time in Lake Tahoe! This rental provided adequate room and it was close to many places/restaurants we wanted to visit. The owner was very easy to work with and I appreciate her timely and thoughtful responses.

Beautiful, family friendly home with all the conveniences.

  • 5 of 5

I took my family, mom and mom-in-law, 13 year old son, 3 year old son, and me and husband for 8 days. We expected a summer week on the lake and instead got a winter snap with snow! We still were able to drive an hour to S Lake Tahoe and see a movie and do some shopping, an hour to Reno for a date night at the casino with dinner, 2 hours to Sacramento for a day trip to the zoo and and dinner on the river, and 3.5 hours to San Francisco for an overnight trip and excursions on the Bay!

The house is prepped with towels, sheets, and lots of family games. The fireplace is tough to figure out but we YouTubed Masonsry Ovens, we went to SaveMart about a mile away for all the food and toiletries we needed for the week, we took a Tahoe lake dinner cruise, the walk to the lake from the house is about 6 min and there's a beautiful park where you can picnic with a playground and basketball court. There's a great burger tavern on the dam a mile away too.

Home has wifi, a great hot tub, BBQ grill, and two lovely private porches. Owners are very responsive!

We loved our time, and next time will hope for sun and swimming! (One thing...bring a pack and play or portable crib if you're traveling with kids 3 and under.)

Great location, needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

The home is in a terrific location, about a block and half from the lake. With all the snow at Tahoe, it was a little tricky to find, and the snow piled around the house and on the deck made it a little hard to enjoy the back yard and the deck, but that's a passing thing. Inside, the house is spacious, with 3 good size bedrooms and a tiny room with two sets of bunks off the kitchen, perfect for kids. The beds were comfortable. There were a number of items that needed to be looked after, including dead power outlets, broken screens, light bulbs, etc, some of which should have been handled by the cleaning staff. The house was clean and we appreciated the spices and such in the kitchen. With some TLC and a critical owner's eye, the house can be back up to fabulous in no time.
