Beautiful house, one of the original in Baltmore with probably the nicest garden. Stunning sea views and one of the best locations about 10 mins walk from the village. The house is ideally set up up as a holiday home with four bedrooms - one with a double bed, one with two singles, a double with two queen size beds, a single bedroom. Two sitting rooms one with open fire, one with a solid wood stove. Beautiful sea views, one of the best locations in the area. Wet room including utility room. The garden includes both a patio area and a decking area with outdoor dining for 10 - possible to move chairs from kitchen to add more. An outdoor wood burner for extra ambiance. The garden is ideal for sunbathing, reading, taking coffee and watching the sea views. The house has a fantastic layout and warm feeling.
I am from Ireland and from Dublin. I love cooking having family and friends around. I fell in love with Baltimore village the first time I stepped into it. The house was the only house I looked at and decided straight away that it was the only one that I wanted to see. It has a lovely warm feel that tells of a happy house that has many happy times and memories.
maria archer purchased this chateau / country house in 1996
The location is ideal - it is quiet and peaceful, coffee on the terrace looking out at the sea and the boats is just perfect. It is a short walk to the village which has great restaurants and pubs, a playground. Great walks to the beacon. The house itself is really comfortable and perfect for relaxing, the kitchen is ideal for family dinners and entertaining. The garden at the back of the house has lots of herbs for cooking. An outside sink for cleaning fish etc. and a wetroom bathroom - ideal for sailors. The garden is perfect for children playing and bar b ques. It is probably the prettiest garden in the area and full of flowers to be picked for the house all year round.
The two sitting rooms allow for everyone to have space, whether it is grandparents, friends visiting or children playing. The open fire whether needed for warmth just adds a great relaxing, ambiance and we light it all year round. the views are just food for the soul and ideal for a mental break as well as a physical. It is quiet and tucked in nicely in the cove.
Myself and my boyfriend booked the weekend for our 1 year anniversary. First off the house was so cute, and the fire was lit when we arrived. The village was a short walk and we got a pizza from the Jolie Brise the first night, the pizza was amazing! I would recommend stopping off in Skibbereen to pick up groceries and alcohol as there is just a small convenience store in Baltimore. Overall the weekend was superb and a real gem of a house! We have already booked to come back in the summer :-)
A spacious yet extremely cosy cottage set in a lovely quiet cove in Baltimore. The nautical themed pictures and decorations add to the atmosphere of this homely property. There is no shortage of quality kitchen utensils, everything that you need and more is there. there is a comprehensive collection of books and music. Although there is plenty to see in the area there is also plenty of entertainment at the property to keep you occupied if needed. My family would gladly return to this lovely comfortable cottage.
We are a family of 6 who stayed in this lovely traditional cottage style property. The owner met us there and made us very welcome even though we were a little early she welcomed us in for a drink while she finished off cleaning. The property is a traditional Irish cottage with all amenities to hand. It must be true the Irish like their food as the kitchen had every single conceivable utensil to hand. The downstairs living rooms are extremely cosy with open log fire which makes it all the more homely. Plenty of room upstairs as well along with a bathroom. There is a further shower room and toilet area to the rear which is very handy for washing down when coming in from a day out on the water. Full Wifi which worked very well. We hired a boat down at the harbour (easy walk of about 300yds) and went over to see the islands and a multitude of wildlife including Whales and seals. The little village has a few pubs with good beer and excellent food one or two have music on some nights and there is a shop which sells most of the day to day needs. Everybody was very friendly. Overhaul a fabulous relaxing break with beautiful picturesque surroundings. Highly recommended.
Gorgeous house in ideal location. For seaview lovers. Everything you could want in a holiday home and more. Lovely and quiet with the option of sociable Baltimore centre only a stones throw away. Would highly reccomend it.
Maria's home in Baltimore was such a pleasure for us to stay in. We visited in March, a group of 7 adults. We cooked every night and ate around that large kitchen table. The layout of the open plan kitchen/dining area is perfect for socialising - and every possible utensil is available. The cosy sitting room was so comfortable and we spent many happy hours there too - in front of the fire. As we visited in March we didn't use the barbeque and seating area in the front garden but we imagined that if we came back in the summer months we would have really enjoyed that too. The view from the house takes in the tranquil waters of Baltimore Cove, a 10 minute walk up the hill takes you to the stunning coastal cliffs at Baltimore's beacon, 5 minutes walk in the opposite direction takes you into the heart of the village. West Cork is the most fantastic location on the planet for a holiday and this is the house to base yourself in. I hope to come back some day. Justine from Dublin
We had a short visit here at the end of September which we thoroughly enjoyed. This is a real home from home and very comfortable to boot!. The house is situated on a quite bay about 10 minutes walk from the harbour. We hope to go back for another visit sometime soon - cannot wait!.
Baltimore is famous for water activities, walking, scenic views, great food. Good for families and adults. Close to local town and local activities. Great fish. Great for exploring - lough Hyne and Skerkin Island. Sherkin is recommended for a trip over, lunch, fabulous beach. The area is great for a complete mental rest, where people are friendly in good form and welcoming. Easy to make friends, great for kids and adults to go to sailing school, diving, fishing and taking a trip on a rib. Sherkin is well known for bird watching. You can make it as busy or a quiet as you wish. Make friends or just chill in your own company.
