Trullo Giancarlo – a piece of ‘Italian heaven’ - only 15 minute walk, along a residential and well-lit lane to the centre of Alberobello (UNECSO World Heritage Site),
The Trullo is at the end of a small lane, set in 3,000 square meters of orchard, comprising of cherry, olive and fig trees. It has a large south facing patio and open views over the countryside.
The 6m x 3m private pool next to the patio is perfect for cooling down in the warm summer days.
The main trullo comprises a light and airy living area, with bed-settee; wood burning stove TV/ DVD and free Wi-fi.
The kitchen is adjacent to the living room. Leading from the living room into the hallway are an air-conditioned double bedroom, and shower-room.
In the separate building there is another air-conditioned double bedroom, with en-suite shower-room, and attached utility room.
The Trullo is perfect for relaxing on the spacious patio area, or eating at the large table under the vine-covered pergola - after cooking fresh local products on the stone bbq.
When in season you can also sample the abundance of grapes; cherries and figs from the orchard.
Trullo Giancarlo is a wonderful secluded home in Puglia that we would highly recommend.
Close enough to the town of Alberobello to walk in but far enough away to be private and quiet, the trullo suited us perfectly, particularly due to the fact that we took our daughter and boyfriend who could stay in the annex and have their own space. The entire property is very well maintained and clean, as was the swimming pool and all of the rooms were well appointed.
The town of Alberobello is just a short way up the road and having eaten out every night and some mornings we didn't experience a bad meal. High recommended are Terra Madre with whom the welcome from Alex and his team is exceptional and the food, which is all homegrown is delicious and La Cucina, just down the road, which serves a wonderful feast too.
The beaches nearby are all well maintained, details of these and other places to visit are in the comprehensive information pack you'll find in the trullo. Bicycles can also be hired in the town for around €10 per day and are great for exploring locally.
We fully intend to visit Trullo Giancarlo again for an equally enjoyable and relaxing time as we had this year. Many thanks to Sue & Phil for sharing their little piece of Italy.
The description of this property is totally accurate and the location is just perfect, at the end of a country lane set in beautiful countryside with your very own cherry trees and olives grove ensuring complete privacy. It is in immaculate condition and has everything that you need, very clean and tidy and the most informative of guide books which covers everything you need to know about the area, from beaches to churches to restaurants and even where to take your rubbish. We enjoyed every single moment of this very special part of Italy and I can highly recommend Trullo Giancarlo. Thank you for such a special holiday and we fully appreciate what a spectacular home you have made.
We have just returned from a heavenly fortnight at Trullo Giancarlo, an experience we can highly recommend to other holidaymakers wanting this ideal combination of rural surroundings and small-town accessibility.
The trullo is a charming building, imaginatively restored and immaculately kept. The separate guest annexe provides the opportunity for two couples to holiday together with a degree of privacy. There is a sofa bed in the trullo, but six people sharing would have been a bit of a squeeze.
The inside of the trull is, as others have said, rather like living in a hobbit house. It certainly has magic properties in that it is cooler inside when the sun beams, but warm in the evenings or when a bit of a breeze strikes up. Conventional air conditioning keeps the bedrooms cool on hot nights.the bed linen is good quality cotton and towels plentiful and fluffy. Pool towels are also provided. Do not be put off by the photos of the kitchen, which in the virtual brochure looks a bit like a kind of culinary dressing table. In fact, it is an efficient and well-designed space where it is easy to attempt the recreation if some of the fabulous food you will be eating vast quantities of out and about in Puglia. There is also a very good barbecue outside, in close proximity to the beautiful stone table and benches, which is fairy lit at night, making outdoor dining a magical experience.
The pool is small, but beautifully clean, and the sun terraces are well equipped with loungers, chairs and tables, meaning you can pursue the sun or shade as you wish.
Being able to walk into Alberobello adds an extra dimension to this kind of villa holiday. It is very pleasant to be able to walk to the local shop for the breakfast loaf, or a bit further on for lunch, dinner or an aperitif. The town has an abundance of places to eat well and cheaply, and these and other attractions are helpfully and meticulously detailed in the House Book put together by Sue and Phil. It says a great deal for Sue and Phil's hospitality that their warm and welcoming personalities are ever-present in the trullo in any if a number of charming and generous touches. Sue is a prompt and chatty email correspondent, whom you will feel you know as a friend by the end of your stay.
There are nasty biting insects around, especially in the evening, so use the citronella candles provided, and take Jungle Juice and Anthisan A few bites are a small price to pay for such a wonderful holuday.
Not knowing what to expect, we were absolutely taken aback by this incredible trullo.
It was immaculately clean with all necessary facilities
We enjoyed every minute of our stay, in fact time flew by and we will return in the not too distant future to relive the week.
Must go places are Terra Madre Restaurant and Paco Wine owned by Alex and Francessco respectively both located in Alberobello.
I would highly recommend the trullo and Alberobello to anyone intending to visit this part of Italy.
The pictures and reviews give an accurate picture of this property. You will not be disappointed when you arrive. We arrived late in the evening and what a surprise when we awoke the next morning.
Booking the accommodation and paying for it was easy. Local support when we arrived was first rate. We were made to feel most welcome. The accommodation was very clean and well equipped.
We found it very relaxing and a good base to tour the region. The swimming pool was a big plus and the accommodation is private. It took about an hour max to get from Bari to the place. If you have the time do try and get to Matera. It's worth the journey.
Regarding the 20 mins walk we were lazy and drove in to town. Depending where you park it I is free with plenty of availability. You then have a pleasant walk through the centre. Market Day is a Thursday. Worth going to.
I would highly recommend the place.
This is a very pretty and well-equipped trullo in a peaceful and private location about 20 mins walk from Alberobello. The pool is small but perfect for cooling off and there is a lovely outdoor table under a pagoda in the shade for eating. The surroundings are mostly fruit orchards and when we were there there were cherries that we enjoyed. The terrace area, paved in smooth white stone, is totally private and perfect for enjoying the Puglian sunshine.
The logistics of paying and arrival all worked perfectly and the instructions and other information could not have been better. The wifi is quite fast but occasionally temperamental, remarkably good for such a rural spot.
We have stayed at quite a few rental properties in Italy and elsewhere and can say without reservation that this was one of the best, just about perfect!
Very strongly recommended.
