We fell in love with this place the moment we saw it and so will you! It's so quiet and peaceful and the lovely views change as the sun moves across the sky. We never tire of visiting and we hope you won't either.

Great stay! A+ for amenities, cleanliness, and location
Nice location close to hiking spots, quiet neighbors, all the amenities for all ages. the house was very clean and stocked with propane for the grill, wood for the fire pit, and all the usual stuff like for the kitchen and bathroom. I would highly recommend for any family or group of friends looking for a house near the Joshua Tree.
The house is well equipped and very comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need to cook at home so that you can relax and enjoy the view. Hot tub is a great place for Star gazing. My daughter loved sleeping in the dome, especially having her own TV in there.
Located just outside the West entrance to Joshua tree NP, couldn't ask for a better location.
Beyond my expectation in every way!!
This is the most extraordinary house, the most amazing dome and the most beautiful location I could have imagined. Everything is presented with beauty and excellence—from the beautiful art throughout to the dinning room table that sat all 9 of us with comfort and ease. Everyone slept comfortably in the three bedrooms plus bonus room with fold out beds. Everything was provided and more! We had a little confusion about turning on the new oven, but the property manager was just a phone call away and helpful to the max!! All of the guests that stayed agree that it was a "beyond our expectation" experience.
The Dome Really Makes It
We had a great time at the home with a dome. Super convenient location to the entrance to the park, nice views over the mountains, and tons of privacy since there are no homes behind it. We really enjoyed our stay and wished it was for longer. The dome was a really cool space, the kitchen is nice and spacious, and the hot tub is great. Would definitely recommend as a comfortable and fun home base for exploring Joshua Tree.
Great City Getaway
I absolutely loved my stay at this house. We had a large group (11 people!) and it was comfortable for all of us. The house has great amenities (hot tub, fire pit, outdoor bar) and is well equipped. The property manager texted to make sure we had everything we needed and was very easy to work with. The location was great - 1 mile from the national park and only about a 10 minute drive to downtown Joshua Tree. It's very quiet and a great way to get away from the city. I personally stayed in the dome and loved it. It has a heater for the winter, but definitely turn it on a while before you're going to bed as the nights can get cold in January. The only thing that was lacking (which is super minor and didn't take away from our stay) was the outdoor lighting. There are a few lanterns available that would help, but as a guest, you may want to bring one or two larger ones. Also, of note, if you want to use the fire pit, bring your own firewood. We really enjoyed the fire during the cold night. Someone had even left marshmallows behind for us to roast! And also, definitely follow the directions provided to the house. Desert Shadows is also a dirt road, but is pretty even. I highly recommend this house and hope to have the opportunity to return.
Well appointed/equipped. Great view and overall location. On the ball property management.
We just finished up a 3-day stay. It was only the 2 of us, but this property could easily hold a large family or multiple couples.
Things that went wrong:
Unfortunately, the oven and stove were not working and we had planned a dinner that required baking. I would have liked to know this before hand. We had access to a propane grill, a charcoal grill, and a toaster oven and just improvised.
The coffee maker was broken.
The propane tank used to heat up the Dome was empty.
I had trouble getting the satellite TV working at first.
All of this would be enough to take away a star, or maybe two. However...
What went right:
After reaching out to ask about the stove, the property manager had promptly replied via text.
After explaining, politely, that things were off to a rough start, she worked very hard.
The next morning a new coffee maker was on the front porch, a new propane tank was installed for the Dome, and the reset instructions she sent for the satellite (surprisingly) worked on 2 out of the 3 TVs.
[Surprisingly because it was the standard “reboot everything” style procedure.]
We made very liberal use of the spa to ease achy bones after 6+ miles of moderately hard hiking two days in a row.
This is an older place, but it has been updated. It’s very homey and comfortable. Old records. Board games. Huge leather couch to stretch out on. Felt like a real home that real people would be in. We thought it was great despite the mis-steps that were corrected immediately.
We are located just one mile from West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park and all it has to offer for hiking, rock climbing, biking, horseback riding and exploring. It is an easy drive to museums, golf, shopping, art galleries and even southern California's famous theme parks. Great local restaurants are nearby for a night out. We are only 45 minutes from Palm Springs and all it has to offer. The Desert House is an excellent vacation rental with something for everyone. Other Activities: rock climbing, hiking
