bright flat in trastevere area
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a bright dining area perfectly enjoyable.
The location is terrific, in the center of Trastevere and within walking distance to all sites and monuments. Public transport is easy to get to.
I would definitely stay there again.
Good location, problem-solving not so much
We wanted to be in the area and altho not quite realizing this we were a bit at the 'far' end... it was fine. The apartment WAS as advertised and comfortable in the rooms, light, airy. Good for that. No internet when we arrived (Sun); took til Monday sometime to solve that. Along w/ no water in bathroom sink (ditto solution). The TOILET is terrible and the paint is pealing. How hard to fix that? And getting in touch w/ managers was not as wonderfully quick as their advertisements (along w/ all the other stuff they were pushing) would have you believe. So. OK. But be prepared. Bring your own tp, paper towels bathsoap etc... or run to the mini mart just down the way (although the mini mart does not seem to be on their list of where to go and what to do IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
We found Trastevere a perfect location for our family stay. It was peaceful and quiet though very close to a lovely area full of restaurants and within 15 mins walk of central Rome one way and the Vatican the other. After seeing the crowds for St Peters we got there easily by 8am to avoid queuing and went up to the top of the Dome. The hill behind the apartment was also really worth climbing for the view and the coffee from the van.
The apartment was very comfortable for the four of us, a little shabby but characterful. Wifi excellent. A relief to return there after a day of central-Rome chaos.
A long walk to everywhere
Certainly spacious, but sadly it was a bit too far from the centre for us - 5 minutes down via San Francesco di Sales (cobbled, therefore difficult to negotiate with wheeled luggage), 5 minutes along the river, 5 minutes over Ponte Sisto - so 15 minutes even to get to Campo dei Fiori. And the area is poorly served by buses: there are a couple along the Tiber to Trastevere proper, but you have to cross the river to get a bus into the centre.
Like all the Italian flats and hotel rooms we seem to stay in, it was very dark: one brightish light by the table, but otherwise very gloomy. Reading for any length of time was almost impossible.
Not fully equipped - no plug in the kitchen sink, no washing-up brush or bowl (we had to buy one).
It would have been useful to have had a guide to the area, with a list of local shops along via della Lungara, some advice about buses and so on. We couldn't find any way of recycling bottles and paper.
Raffaele was helpful, especially in getting us a taxi at the end of our stay, but it was very expensive, possibly because the driver thought we were going to the airport rather than Termini.
the historic centre is just on the other side of the river, you just had to cross the Mazzini bridge which it is just straight down the road. The apartment has always been appreciated because of its location: close to the city centre, in the characteristic Trastevere but in a quiet and nice road away from the noise and the buzz of the area. We have a guide book in all of our properties, sorry you couldn't find it, you should have asked if you needed information, you had our email and contact numbers.
Top notch accommodation!
Happy customer, great stay!
Very responsive to requests for fixes to problems
Good location, unless you want to be in "the thick of things".
The Corsini garden is close and that is a great place to visit, all those perruches were a charming addition to the location.
The gas range worked well for using the Bialetti; no problems using matches instead of piezo.
Emanuela was a great help in getting things fixed.
While Rome seduces with its extraordinary monuments, Trastevere captures the traveler's heart. It is the most authentic and characteristic District within the Historic Center, the perfect place to glimpse the old world while enjoying the lifestyle of today's Romans. Often described as Bohemian, Trastevere maintains its character thanks to the old, narrow, winding, cobblestone streets. Homes decorated with flower boxes and clinging ivy interlace with coffee bars, restaurants, and one-of-a-kind boutiques.
The apartment is located in a very tranquil street, in front of the botanical garden and a few steps away from Piazza Trilussa and Campo de Fiori. Thanks to its strategic location, you can reach within walking distance many astonishing places such as Santa Maria in Trastevere, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Imperial Forum, the Coliseum and Spanish Steps. Following the river Tiber for 10 minutes you may reach the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. Passing through this magical place, senses are pleasantly awakened with every step.
