Best Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We chose this property as a last minute family vacation!! We truly had a wonderful time and felt welcomed by the landlord!!! You are close to Kennebunkport and had a great time canoing across to Biddeford to eat at the General Store. We will come back to visit!! It was very quiet and allows for some good down time to kick back and relax overlooking the water reading a book or watching the lobster boats go out while having your coffee! Our children loved the tidal pools and we had plenty of exciting hikes! The house is clean and very inviting!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

The house - A beautiful old home full of character, updated and tastefully decorated. Super clean and stocked with linens, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, tea, laundry det and more. Oh and the beds were so comfortable!

Location - At the end of a peninsula with views in every direction. The photos don't do it justice. You have to see it to believe it. Tons of things to do less than 25 minutes away like the drive in movie, an old amusement park, the cable car museum and kennebunkport.

Nature - Our favorite part was walking out to Basket Island at low tide or taking the canoe to lunch and the other islands. We also took a hike at East Point Sanctuary.

The owner - Doug and Lucy were friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of helpful information and were a pleasure to talk to.

The return - I have rented many house with my family all over th New England area and this house was my favorite. I hope I can return another year.

AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5

We go to Maine every year and this by far was my favorite place we've stayed. The house is so clean. It is the perfect size and you feel right at home while you are there. Listing and pictures do not give this place justice; it is truly beautiful. Location is PERFECT; you can fish right off the dock, walk down to the beach right at the end of the driveway; you name it it's there. We would get up in the morning, watch the sun come up, drink our coffee on the dock and watch the activities at the Yacht club just across the pool, not to mention that it is so quiet and peaceful so when their wasn't activity at the yacht club we just enjoyed the peace and quiet. We loved walking down to the beach at low tide and walking across the beautiful sand to the islands (you can't do this during high tide - you would need to swim :)). Not only do you have everything so close, feel right at home but the owners truly make this property the best. The owners were so helpful and friendly, they waited for us to arrive on Saturday night, they made sure we had all their contact information, made sure we knew how to use the tv (which we never even used as you don't need to here; there is so much to do), etc. The owners also took us out for a ride on their yacht which was so awesome - Doug knew the history of Biddeford and was so knowledgeable of the area and was a great guide! Did I mention they also made us laugh and feel right at home?!! I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this property and we would definitely recommend this property to friends and family!!! We hope to go back for many years to come!!!

Wonderful home, wonderful people!!!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have picked a better location to stay for our first visit to Maine! The home was immaculate! Thank you to Doug and his family for sharing such a beautiful place with us and for being so kind! We were truly blessed by your generosity! Our family all agreed that this has been the best vacation spot yet!

The views are spectacular and we enjoyed walking out to the islands and searching for shells when the tide went out. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful dock. My husband was thrilled to catch striper and mackerel when the tide came in! It was also a great place to just sit and enjoy the scenery.

We also really enjoyed the short drive in to Kennebunkport (a few times) to shop at Dock Square! It was also neat to see the Bush residence at Walker's Point! The Pier in Old Orchard Beach was also a fun place for the kids with shops, games, rides, and lots of places to eat.

We really hope to make it an annual trip! I would definitely recommend this property to our family and friends, even though I'd love to keep it a secret :)

Thank you for helping us to make some wonderful memories!

Relaxing and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

It was difficult to leave this beautiful home after a great vacation! We were here at peak season, and it was remarkably peaceful.

The home and location exceeded our expectations. The home quiet and secluded. Views from most rooms and from the patio and deck of the harbor, the "gut" and Biddeford Pool are amazing. The sandy beach, just across from the driveway, is shared by only a few homes and offers a great view of the sunrise. At low tide, you can walk from the beach to two islands - great fun for children!

The home itself is very clean and homey with lots of indoor and outdoor space for guests to spread. The kitchen was beautifully updated just before we arrived. The owners are wonderfully gracious and make sure you have everything you need - Bikes, firewood, access to the canoe, etc. Everything was provided, including detergent for both the dishwasher and clothes washer.

The bicycling in this area is amazing! We brought our road bikes and got some great bike route maps online. There's some wonderful scenery and quaint villages within easy biking distance. If you don't like shopping (we don't) and you pick up your groceries in Biddeford on the way in, you can pretty much leave your car parked. Otherwise you do need a car to access grocery stores and other amenities, but there is plenty of shopping and food within 10 miles. Goldwaithe's store at Biddeford Pool is a comfortable and scenic 6 mile bike ride away and a great place for breakfast. The view from the picnic tables is beautiful, and you can see the rental house across the "gut".

We regret that we didn't bring our sea kayaks! The Maine Island Trail, with many great little islands, is nearby and we saw lots of kayakers. The complimentary cruise on the owner's custom built and meticulously restored antique boat was wonderful though!

We hope to return next year, and my family may rent it for a second week.

We are so grateful to our hosts for their hospitality.

Truly Unique Maine Vacation Experience

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been spending the last 10 summer vacations along the East Coast of the US, renting beach houses for two consecutive weeks.

We just concluded one of our most memorable stay at the Kays summer rental in Biddeford. Location, location, location: The views are breathtaking with water almost all around. You have access to your very own private peer for fishing, relaxing, canoeing and watching the tide move in and out. The Hills Beach is less than a quarter of a mile and you can walk or bike to it. The house is big with 4 spacious rooms, more than enough for 7 peoples (my family of 5 and my parents). The kitchen is basic and well equipped and you have the extras of a big flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, large washer, dryer and dishwasher,

We very much enjoyed the extras. Everything is included: towels, beach towels, soap, garbage disposal, linen, 4 bicycles, a canoe, life vests, beach chairs, everything!

And to top it all, we had a tremendous service from Doug. Always available, he makes sure that you don't have to worry about details.

Thanks for a great Maine Vacation.
