After almost 23 years on Tobago, we have established an unique network that will benefit our guests.
My wife and I are born and live in Norway in a little town called Skien - the same place as we grew up and went to school.
We are now both retired and spend lots of time in our house in Tobago.
Stein and Edel Foss purchased this apartment in 2005
My wife and I went to Tobago for the first time in 1993. We fell in love with the beautiful island and the people there, and continued our travelling to Tobago every year. In 2005 we were lucky to get the opportunity to purchase a piece of land almost on the beach by the Caribbean Sea. The same year we build our house on the premises. By now we have travelled back and forth to Tobago for 20 years. The name ' Pride of Courland ' was
taken from the old wooden house that were on the premises before we built our new house.
The place is unique and has a breathtaking view out to the Caribbean Sea and the sunsets you can enjoy from the porch.

Perfect location on the beach. Great for swimming, Snorkelling close by. We could buy basics in Black Rock and took a taxi to Crown Point once a week for a big shop. Lovely to walk on the area beaches, help the fishermen bring in the nets and eat fresh catch.
The suite had everything we needed and we enjoyed all of our meals on the veranda overlooking the pool and ocean. We didn't use the AC that much as the screened windows allowed us to catch the ocean breeze at night and the waves lulled us to sleep.
Theodora, the house keeper was a great help, guided us in selecting drivers, tours and shopping.
We were able to catch the local steel band practice for the Carnival competitions......amazing!!
We will stay here again.
We stayed at Pride of Courland, Royal Tern unit in March 2017. We stayed in an upper unit of the house; the house has four units. It was very nicely outfitted with everything one would need for a week getaway. The frig had some food items to get you through breakfast for your first morning if you weren’t able to get to the store the first day. Eggs, bread, jelly, water, bacon, water, coffee. The bathroom was huge! Water pressure was good and we always had hot water. There was a blender, various pots and pans, toaster over, coffee maker and microwave. They were a no napkins or paper towels- so we bought some. There was cleaning service once midweek where the sheets and towels were changed. There are 2 beach towels as well. The set up was fine because it was just my husband and I, but had we brought friends or our daughter it would have been a little strange, as to get to the second bedroom one needs to walk through the master bedroom. There is no safe in the unit; however, the house is within a gated area. There is a gate across the driveway and a gate to the beach that is always locked. The cleaning lady, Theodora, was very helpful and said we could leave our stuff laying out- no worries. She was right, we did and no worries! Roosters woke up every morning around 3;30, but that doesn’t bother me. We slept with the windows open because there are screens on them which I loved!! There is no elevator and so if you have mobility issues this may not be the best unit for you. Also, Steve, who picked us up and dropped us off at the airport doesn’t carry bags/luggage. My husband just had shoulder surgery and so it was quite a chore for me to carry 3 full size luggage bags up to the second floor. Just and FYI.
When we were there the other 3 units were occupied by people who knew each other. They were very nice and accommodating as well. It could’ve been a different experience if they were loud or overbearing. I only say this because they all knew each other. Super nice and chill people! The pool was nice. Great temperature always clean. There is a sign asking to rinse off before going in the pool and everyone did. Probably helped a lot. The ocean was too rough to get into everyday except one. The other 3 couples that were staying in the house indicated they have been going to the area for the past 14 -16 years and this is the roughest they have the ocean. The deck overlooking the pool and the ocean is my favorite part of t
Having never written a review before and have been traveling extensively for the past 20 plus years, this should not go unnoticed I hope. We just had a week at the Pride of Courland and it was fabulous in every way. Perfect location, beautiful sunsets, immaculate living quarters, and the owners are the most congenial, friendly and helpful people I have met. They came to get us to see the Leatherback hatching and actually took us in their car, and today they took us back to the airport, no extra charge and all in all they and their staff (Theodora) go out of their way in the most unobtrusive way to make for a wonderful week.
We enjoyed 5 weeks in Royal Tern. We lived the large deck, ate all of our meals there. The pool was great for cooling off and the ocean out front was perfect for long swims. A quick 10 minute walk to Grafton beach, nice walk along to beach to Plymouth and quick walk to the village shops for fresh fruit and veggies and staples. We took a taxi to Crown Point weekly for a larger grocery shop. Theodora was a wealth of information and helped line is up with reliable drivers and tours.
Comfortable bed, most nights didn't use the AC as the fans and breeze were cool enough for sleeping. Most everything we needed for cooking.
We will stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to Tobago.
To Mr and Mrs Foss,
We had an absolutely wonderful 2 weeks stay at "Pride of Coreland"! The "Royal Tern" and "Blue Bird" apartments were perfect for us. They were spacious (with high ceilings), and especially the youngsters were very happy for the excelent intenet connection :-). In addition, you really have a lovely garden and a beautiful seafront.
We appreciated that we stayed in a neighborhood where we could experience the authentic life at Tobago. And we were so grateful that Theodora helped us to buy a local Christmas dinner and that she made curry fish for. Please give her our warmest regards!
Thank you again - we will recommend you to all our friends here in Norway!
Best regards from families Lindkjenn and Hagerupsen-Hansen
Diving and snorkelling, birdwatching hummingbirds, pelicans, fregatebirds and a great variety of sugar birds and watching the giant leather back turtles lying their eggs in the darkness on the beach just outside our yard in the period March - July.
