VICARAGE COTTAGE and The Old Vicarage COACH HOUSE are two, separate, luxury one bedroom cottages set in the tranquil, landscaped gardens of The Old Vicarage, a lovely Victorian house that is an award winning, boutique country house B&B. The COACH HOUSE is in a cobbled courtyard, adjacent to The Old Vicarage, while VICARAGE COTTAGE is hidden away on the lower gardens, surrounded by trees, shrubs and a small private garden.

Both character properties have original features and are comfortably furnished with country antiques, offering heavenly views across excellent walking country.

The COACH HOUSE is a romantic hideaway for two with roses round the stable door. Beautifully converted, the cottage’s main living area is on the first floor to take full benefit of the spectacular views across the Old Vicarage gardens to the green, rolling Radnorshire Hills. VICARAGE COTTAGE, renovated to a high standard, offers high class accommodation for a couple who want to “get away from it all”. The wisteria-clad, stone & half-timbered cottage, with beams throughout, is spacious, comfortable and full of character. More details further down this page

COACH HOUSE First Floor: upstairs there is a very spacious, carpeted, open plan living/dining room with high ceiling open to the beams and roof apex. The open plan living area has two comfortable sofas, a dining table and French windows onto a balcony (with garden furniture) offering breath-taking views over the Marches countryside. Separated from the living area by waist-high reclaimed wooden stable stalls is the compact, well-equipped, open-plan cottage-style kitchen area with quarry-tiled floor. Downstairs there is a spacious entrance hall; a double bedroom with an antique, draped, brass half-tester (4 poster) double bed and an ash wood Victorian bedroom suite. The double bed has cotton duvet cover, sheet & pillows beneath an attractive, designer counterpane. The bathroom has a modern white bathroom suite, with shower over, and toilet. Luxury Egyptian cotton towels and bathrobes are included. Parking for one car is available outside the Coach House. Full facilities in detail below.

VICARAGE COTTAGE Downstairs: the living room has a real country feel with its ancient inglenook fireplace, bread oven and antique, cast iron Victorian kitchen range. The living room, with rugs on the quarry tiled floor, has two comfortable sofas, a long case clock and lovely countryside views. The well-equipped country-style kitchen/dining room has a quarry-tiled floor, and antique farmhouse table, chairs and cupboard. The kitchen has distant views and a stable door to the drive and parking area for one car. There is an ancient, oak winding staircase from the living room to a second living area on the first floor. Upstairs: the second sitting room has beams and a high ceiling, open to the roof apex. The double bedroom, high-ceilinged with beams open to roof apex, boasts a comfortable, draped Victorian brass & iron half-tester (4-poster) bed and rugs on the polished wooden floor. The double bed has cotton duvet cover, sheet & pillows beneath a gorgeous, designer counterpane. The bathroom has a modern white bathroom suite, with shower over, and toilet. What a wonderful get away....

Well what a wonderful get away break, the Coach House is perfect, wonderful views and delightful accommodation. The Coach House is beautifully decorated and is a perfect place to stay. The balcony provides the most beautiful views feeling like you are sitting in the gods watching the wildlife, the most stressful thing is spotting the Goldfinches and monitoring the sheep activity. Our stay let us refresh ourselves from a busy home life allowing us to completely relax and unwind. The local facilities provide everything you could ask for, the local shops and high street provide fine dining and a fabulous deli with lots of treats. Nice pubs where the locals are very friendly, it is a perfect retreat. Not our first time of staying and definitely not our last. Highly recommended, although regret having to share such a wonderful secret!

The Coach House

The Coach House was everything we could have wished for. The location is fabulous with views over the countryside - and such peace and quiet. The garden was a real treat and a pleasure to walk around. The interior of the Coach House is decorated with impeccable taste and attention to every detail in keeping with the Victorian vicarage. It was also spotlessly clean and had an extremely comfortable bed. A very relaxing holiday and a great way to unwind before returning to everyday life refreshed.

The 2 separate properties, The Old Vicarage Coach House and Vicarage Cottage, are perched on a hill with stunning views across delightful walking country, situated half way between Ludlow and Hay on Wye, where the borders of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Powys meet. Nearby Presteigne, a delightful borders town nestling on the River Lugg, boasts the award winning Judge's Lodging Museum. With fine walks from the front door, both properties are close to some of the best preserved and most beautiful stretches of the Offa's Dyke Path National Trail. The cathedral city of Hereford, Croft Castle & Berrington Hall (both National Trust properties), the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, the Cambrian Mountains and the spectacular Victorian dams in the Elan Valley are all a scenic drive away. There is a delightful wine bar in Presteigne and a Michelin starred pub 10 minutes drive away.

Minimum stay for 3 nights is £180 during Low Season and £240 during High Season
Start dates/times: The normal start date/time for weekly bookings is Friday at 4pm. Weekend lets for 3 nights start on Friday. Mid week lets start on Mondays, minimum 4 nights. If you require a different start day, please contact us.
Cancellation
Cancellation more than 10 weeks before 4pm on arrival date: any money paid (less £100 deposit) will be refunded. Cancellation less than 10 weeks before 4pm on arrival date: the Owners will (but without any obligation to the Hirer) use their best endeavours to obtain a replacement letting and, if such replacement is obtained, will then refund to the Hirer any monies paid, less £100 deposit fee. If the Owners are unable to re-let, the Owners shall be entitled to retain all payments made. Cancellation is to be notified to the Owners by email.
Partial Cancellation: The full cost is due without reduction if the Hirer cancels any part of the booking, for example arrives after the start date, leaves before the departure date or the number of notified guests is reduced from two to one.
