Large-Spacious-Cottage On the Beach

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,600 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6

This cottage is just wonderful! It has a great location along Route 6A in North Truro. A private beach with lots of sand and room to play is located just steps outside your back door. This is a bayside beach so the water is relatively calm and warm. When the tide is in, the water is deep. When the tide goes out, there are great expanses of sandbars and flats to explore. You can sit and watch beautiful sunsets over the bay and Provincetown from the colony's private deck. The cottage is spacious with over 1500 square feet of space. There is plenty of space with large bedrooms, a full sized kitchen, a large living room and a laundry room. On a clear day, from the rear deck you can see the last lighthouse on the end of the Cape.

The cottage has been updated and feels very 'beachy'. We try to keep the property in the same condition as if this was our home. There is a large, comfortable master bedroom with a large walk-in closet and a nice queen sized bed. The living room (23x12) has been painted a wonderful shade of sea glass green, has a natural fireplace, two love seats, a couple of white, wicker chairs, a CD player, a nice sized TV. It is large enough to accommodate the whole family and comfortable enough to curl up in with your favorite book. The good-sized (16x11), fully equipped kitchen has pretty much all the necessary equipment to prepare a fine meal or to throw a 'pop-tart' in the toaster. Bedroom number two (14x11) is painted in a light periwinkle has a large wall sized closet and a nice queen-size bed. The cathedral ceiling, ceiling fan and cross breezes, make this a favorite bedroom. The nautical themed, paneled bedroom has two single beds and an armoire closet. Bedrooms 2 & 3 both have direct access to the kitchen.

Dunes Colony was originally a manager's cottage and eight smaller cottages that the owner rented out on a daily or weekly basis. In 1984 the cottages were sold to individuals as condominiums. There are currently nine individual owners who comprise the Dunes Colony Association. Some owners rent out their cottages and some don't. Please be respectful of others and observe quiet hours from 9pm until 9am. The eight other cottages range in size from 400 to 800 square feet. The manager's cottage, #9, is 1600 square feet and is equipped to be lived in year round. The cottages are arranged around a court yard in a horseshoe shape. The open end of the horseshoe faces the beach. It is about 50 steps from the beach side door of #9 to the beach. From the kitchen, on a clear day, you can see the last lighthouse on to tip of Cape Cod. From the rear deck you can see beach and the water. We have a permanent deck built on the beach from which you can watch beautiful sunsets over Provincetown. The beach is quite large and is used by Dunes Colony owners and guests only.

Cottage is great, everything you need and more. All the people in the complex are warm and friendly. The beach is wonderful, you can see Provincetown. Only a few minutes drive from Provincetown and all that it has to offer. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.

Wonderful, peaceful weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Clean, comfortable and very close to the water - this cottage was exactly what we all needed for a weekend getaway. Location couldn't be beat, fantastic proximity to Ptown as well as Wellfleet - we lucked out with four wonderful restaurants during our stay which were all within a fifteen minute drive of the cottage. VERY short walk to the private beach made for a great time exploring tidal pools. Beautiful sunsets; Pilgrim Tower is within view of the communal deck and private beach. Excellent communication and follow through from owner. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the cottage; three of us stayed there with plenty of room. Highly recommend!

Short and sweet, this is a simply wonderful house to stay at in the area. Always quiet, just the right amount of space, clean and comfortable. There is nothing not to like about it. I have stayed many times and am always pleased.

Fantastic Family Vacation By the Bay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this spacious cottage for our two week vacation. The cottage was even better than how it was described in the computer listing. It was so roomy that sometimes we didn't even hear our 3 grandchildren (ages 8 and 6 year old twins). It was very clean when we arrived and it was easy to access using the lockbox. The owners were extremely helpful in giving us whatever info we needed before arrival. Our 3 grown children and their families visited at staggered times and thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and the great beach with its fantastic sandbars, The grandchildren had lots of room to play on the grounds. We even cooked lobsters because the owners provided the pots to do so. This cottage has now become our favorite vacation spot and we plan to return next summer. We gave the info on the cottage to good friends who want to go back to Cape Cod. There are so many activities nearby , such as Cape Cod Lighthouse, Pilgrim Monument, etc. The restaurants are abundant but I would recommend making reservations, which we did this year. The cottage owners that we met there were very nice.

These same 3 grandchildren collected lots of rocks and shells when their parents came the 2nd week and are using them to make Cape Cod memory containers for family. It was truly the BEST family vacation we ever had. The drive from the Syracuse, NY area was well worth the time. Please fell free to contact me if you to know anything else about this great cottage.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

This is the best condo we have ever stayed at on Cape Cod. The accommodations are clean, large, and fully stocked with everything you will need to make your stay comfortable. It is located on a private beach and minutes away from Provincetown, we walk to take advantage of the beautiful cape. We highly recommend this unit. It has become the only place for us to stay on Cape Cod.

Nearest Beach
100 Metres
The beach is fifty steps out your door.
Car: recommended

The Dunes Colony is three tenths of a mile from the Provincetown border and 2.5 miles from P-town center. Provincetown features galleries, stores, restaurants, historic museums and many other activities. The Cape Cod National Seashore occupies most of Truro and all the great oceanside beaches and majestic dunes are just minutes away. Fish to grill and lobsters to boil are available fresh from the sea at the local fish stores. Truro is a great area for relaxing and enjoying the feel of old Cape Cod.

Other Activities: Anything and everything on the beach!

Golf: The Highland Links are located a few miles away at the Highland Lighthouse in the National Seashore. It is a challenging, deceptively difficult, not overly long, course. It offers some great views and interesting golf. I always try to get out at least once while we visit Truro and always return with stories to tell.
