About the property

Private, Amazing Ocean Views, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, Heated Pool

Luxury Home with the Best Views on the Kona Coast (Big Island of Hawaii).

You'll love our large, heated pool! (This is not very common in Hawaii, but it is nice!) Travertine decking around the pool for the ultimate luxury.

Picture yourself lounging around the pool with the huge blue ocean always in sight, napping on the hammock, or reading on the tropical lanai sofas. Imagine one gorgeous sunset after another, framed by the palm lined coastline and the lights of Kona. Enjoy them with a glass of wine, Hawaiian music playing, surrounded by your family and friends. This is what you will find yourself doing at Kona View House.

We purchased and began renting our home a few years ago and from the beginning received excellent reviews and repeat customers. Since then we have spent over $250,000 on additional improvements!! Our rents are priced much lower than comparable homes. Given the size and qualiy of the house, yard and views, most homes are charging hundreds more per night. We are charging less because we live here half the year and often don't want to take bookings far in advance. We rent it just to pay for the constant upgrades we are always making.

Our home contains Tommy Bahama-style tropical furnishings and tropical art on almost every wall. Lots of teak and bamboo. Gorgeous lanais. Solar-Heated pool. hammock. 4 flat screen smart TV's including a 65' Big Screen. X-Box with games. DVD Library.

All new mahogany and granite kitchen Dec 2016! Cooks dream with 36" induction cook top, two ovens and two sinks.

High thread count sheets, thick and thirsty towels.

Sleeps up to 9 comfortably, 10 possible depending on the situation.. We welcome kids, and they love to play in the extra large pool! (But should be supervised for safety)

Your stay at Kona View House is also environmentally friendly, since we have 33 grid-tied solar panels which produce all the power we use!

Our 35+ 5 star reviews assure you that you will have the vacation of your lives! Guests return to Kona View House year after year, and even have come back to get married!

WATCH OUR NEW FLY-OVER VIDEO! (see video camera icon above, just below the listing headline)

Please click on owner info to view our property website, where we have dozens more photos and info on Kona! We have stayed at many vacation rentals ourselves, and have included every amenity we could think of, so you can have the vacation of your dreams.

The house is on 2 floors. Upstairs is the kitchen, living room with big TV, dining room, main lanai, bedroom with king bed and ensuite bath, private den/bedroom with pull out memory foam queen bed, and powder room. Downstairs are two bedrooms with 1 full bathroom in the hallway between them. Both bedrooms downstairs walk out to the lower travertine lanais, and the pool. One is a wonderful room with queen bed. The other has a queen and a twin bed, and an armoire with x-box.

We are centrally located, just a 5-10 minute drive from downtown Kailua-Kona. Everything from Wal-mart and Safeway to the cute downtown shops and restaurants of Kailua-Kona can be reached in just a few minutes. You can even be snorkeling at one of the local beaches in just a few minutes. The airport is 15 minutes north, the mega resorts and beaches are 30 minutes north, and the Volcano is 2.5 hours south.

In terms of weather, because we are on the side of a mountain, you can choose your weather by elevation. Down toward the water it is very hot with little breeze. You would often want air conditioning at that elevation. Up at 1200-1500 feet it's quite cool; homes have fireplaces and residents wear long pants. Most people believe 600-800 feet elevation is ideal, and our home is at 650 feet. It's warm enough to feel that you are in Hawaii, but almost never gets too warm. In the evening, cool air comes down the mountain, and you can control the temperature in the house by opening and closing the front door to allow this air in or not. (Note that up north where the resorts are, it is often quite windy, but here we only get light breezes.) We do have 7 ceiling fans for warm days.

Many of our guests report that they had all kinds of plans to visit places around the island, but they actually spent a lot of their time at the house, floating in the pool, hanging out on the lanai and watching the sunset, not wanting to leave. This is the experience we try to provide.

Certainly there are many vacation rentals you can choose from, but we hope you will choose ours so we can share this magical place with you. There are places that are less expensive, but we have yet to see something comparable to ours in terms of views, amentities, luxury, and style, for less. Don't forget all the ways we will save you $ on your vacation! You can cook your meals at home, and you will have no rental costs for beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, boogie boards, coolers and snorkel gear.

Note: We do not allow parties; only guests staying at the home, and others as pre-authorized.

About Cindi Anderson

We are an artist and an engineer, recently retired. We love brew pubs and happy hours with friends (our profile photo shows us at Humpy's Alehouse ) We started coming to Hawaii in 1990 and kept returning to the Big Island for it's raw beauty and Aloha spirit. We now are lucky enough to spend several months a year here, and the remainder skiing and biking at our home in Idaho.

Cindi Anderson purchased this house in 2006

Why Cindi Anderson chose Kona Coast

Gorgeous unobstructed views, high-end quiet neighborhood. While our home was already nice when we bought it, improving it has been a labor of love. These improvements have included decorating, opening walls, remodeling all the bathrooms, adding 1500sf of travertine around the pool, building a 1000 sf deck, new flooring, adding solar power, solar pool heat and an electric heat pump, replacing doors, windows, trim, flooring, and of course the constant maintenance that a tropical environment requires. But when you see it, and see our views, you will understand why it is worth it!

What makes this house unique

Our home is one of the original Kona vacation rental homes (when we started in 2006 everyone told us we were crazy renting out a high end house with great furniture!) But we know what people want and need when they are on vacation and have tried to provide those things. This is not an investment to us, we live here part of the year. We have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on furnishing and remodeling. This home is very personal and important to us and we treat our guests as if they are family. The house is in a great, safe neighborhood, with amazing views, but it is close and convenient to everything. The backyard is the best! You will love it! It's so peaceful, with all the tropical plants, the views, the pool, all to yourself. Whether you stay home all day, or return after a long day at the beach or the volcano, it's a wonderful place to relax. You can lounge and watch the kids play and swim (there are lots of floaties and pool toys), someone can get the BBQ going on the gas grill, or just relax on the hammock or lounge chairs, or on one of the many lanais. It really is a special place. It's one of those places you'll think about when you are told to go to your happy place. You'll be back in my yard in your mind, marveling at the shades of blue and turquoise in the Pacific Ocean ;-)

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed our stay at your house. The view is spectacular and rain or shine it never disappoints.

Perfect Home for Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I had the best time staying at the Kona View House for a week with my husband, our 2 month old son, my parents and my brother. This home was exactly perfect for us- loved the chef's kitchen, the pool, the access to the outdoors from every bedroom. All of the finishes and furnishings were high quality and made our stay very comfortable. They had everything we needed for our son- a pack n play, bouncy chair, and a high chair (though he's too little for that still). And the views! Just stunning. Loved the house, loved the location with easy access to beaches/ snorkeling/ restaurants. Cindi was very helpful before our trip, answering my many emails and requests for recommendations, and responded quickly to questions while we were staying at the property. It's clear that the owners take very good care of this property! Would gladly stay here again.

Best House in Kona

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying in this beautiful house perched up high in Kona. After our last stay we were determined to try to get back to "The Kona House " as it became known in our many retellings of our time in Hawaii. We thought it was perfect last time but discovered the renovations in the kitchen had improved on perfection. The house is spacious yet homely. It is clean and comfortable. Our hardest decisions each day as we woke up happy to still be on holiday in this lovely house were, do we go out and explore the island or stay home and enjoy the house? We did a bit of both. We drove to the summit of Mauna Kea ( a must do ), drove to the Volcano National Park ( looks like Mars ), to various small beaches to snorkel and to Captain Cook for Antique shopping. Other days we stayed home and lazed by the pool with a book, sat on the Lanai and watched through binoculars, whales breaching in the ocean down below or cooked local fish and steaks on the bbq. I can not recommend this house highly enough and hope we will be returning again sometime soon. In the meantime I will daydream about our time in "The Kona House".

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, Alison, and for sharing the highlights of your trip. We are so happy you could come back again! For those who don't know, "homely" has a different meaning to the British & Aussies than Americans :-) It means "cozy and comfortable, as in one's own home" as opposed to "an unattractive person."

Great view, Great location, Good layout for families

  • 5 of 5

Overall, an excellent house in a great location near downtown Kona. Property was excellent across the board.

For families with small childrens be aware there are a bunch of stairs (upstairs is a master bedroom, family/tv room is half-level below, then two bedrooms a few level below). We put up a small baby gate and had no issues. Both lower level bedrooms open to the pool, so baby monitors reach out to the pool area.

Lovely stay at Kona View House

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed for a week in this home. Some highlights...the main lanai was very comfortable and a wonderful place to read a book (even on a rainy afternoon), the kitchen has been newly remodeled and we loved cooking on the induction range, the sunsets were quite stunning. We took many day trips from the home to Volcano, Mauna Kea, coffee farms, and Kohala beaches. I really love Kona overall, from the access to great snorkeling beaches, quaint nearby towns, and really amazing fruit and coffee farms. We thought the location was very good and it was a quick drive to the store for food or any forgotten items. In fact, we tried to pack light knowing we could pick up anything we needed in the main shopping area in Kona. One thing visitors should be aware of is that you do have to be relatively quiet when outside day and night. Loud voices carry in this area, which is probably the case with most Kona homes unless you go into the higher elevations where properties are sometimes larger. Overall, I would certainly recommend this home for a comfortable and relaxing vacation.

Absolutely taken away by the view from the house, the pool, and deck.

  • 5 of 5

Completely as advertised, except the view from the deck is something that cannot be described by photos or words. We had a wonderful week at the home, and in Kona. The home was very spacious, airy, clean, well decorated, and had all of the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Even the sofa bed was comfortable.

The owner was very thoughtful and kind throughout the entire rental process and stay; hurricane warnings and all. She was very quick in responding to emails and questions.

Well worth the rental.

Amazing Home, Incredible Island!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 saw this property and the reviews online and quickly booked it for our 2 week adventure on the Big Island this August 2016 - we were thoroughly pleased!

I cannot say enough about the home (clean, quality, spacious and all the things you want in a home while on vacation with family and friends - including an amazing sunset each and every day!) ......and the Big Island, which words cannot really describe so I will try in a few sentences. Having a home like this puts you at the centre of what the island has to offer in our view (note - this island is BIG so you will have to be ready to drive to see things - OR - just relax at home with the amazing views). In one hour you are on the most amazing beach (like Beach 69 and Kua Bay) or in 25 minutes you are at TWO STEP Beach snorkeling with amazing coral, fish and a few dolphins if you are lucky (note, many pay for boats to take you here but from the house, just drive it!). Also, in 2 hours, you can be at Volcano Park (stop at the bakery at the southern most point for amazing treats on your way https://www.bakeshophawaii.com/) for one of the most amazing sites you will see. A hour drive East from there (so yes, a long day on the road 3 hours out and 3 hours back) is the Kapoho Tide Pools (http://www.to-hawaii.com/big-island/beaches/kapohotidepools.php) which are amazing (try to get into the gated community to get to the secluded Champagne Ponds). Remember to also check out Mauna Kea (https://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/mko/) where you can truly be above the clouds for sunset or sunrise with the most incredible stars you will see up close (including the Milky Way with your own eyes).

I could go on but will stop - if you are looking for a great home on an incredible island, don't hesitate, just book it!
