Overview

About the property

4 suites Ac,Tv,View,Ensuites; private Pool,Garden,Parking; Kitchen garden; bikes

Our villa offers an ideal combination of elegant simplicity and historical charm which create a unique experience and can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests.

Located just five minutes away from The Hilltown Cortona.

Along with a private swimming pool, this holiday accommodation, immersed within the Tuscan countryside, offers peaceful views and a very family-friendly atmosphere.

Originally the building was a thousand-year-old historical tower but it was converted into a unique Tuscan villa by the lords of this land during the 17th century.

Just a few years ago, it was tastefully restored into a charming and unique villa for rent with every attention to detail and history by the current owners and finally it underwent a full renovation to the luxury villa it is today.

The property includes high beam ceilings, traditional rich tiles of the Tuscan valley, upscale furnishings, large bathrooms with modern shower heads. No detail went unnoticed in the selection of this elegant Tuscan villa.

The current owners have also worked hard to unveil pieces of the original frescoes which once covered the walls, keeping them mainly covered and protected as they have been for the last hundred years but adding a highlight to every room.

The Villa is surrounded by the typical Tuscan landscape with an olive grove and outdoor amenities which include a lovely swimming pool (12m x 6m), shaded parking, and sitting/dining areas which seat up to 14 people, providing views of the vineyard-covered hills.

The main dining terrace offers a pergola-covered table with BBQ, the gardens accentuate the nearby villa which towers over the brilliant countryside.

The views are spectacular and an ideal example of the beauty of Tuscany.

All windows are screened, sleeping suites offer individually controlled air conditioning and flat-screen televisions will allow you to keep up to date with US, UK, French, and other national news / financial networks.

All services are owner managed and custom tailored to our guest's needs!

Your stay also includes some simple food gifts from the owner which you will find at your arrival. If you'd like to have more wines, there is a wine/cellar from which you may choose.

Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

It is six months since our stay at Borgo Valecchie. I have nothing but wonderful memories of a week with friends in an idyllic setting.

As we explored the villa and the grounds upon our arrival in May, I remember thinking that all my romantic notions of a villa in Tuscany--and then some--had been answered. The views were lush, and nature's soundtrack--think pre-dawn riotous birdsong--were magnificent. (And yes--there really IS a bird that sounds like a cuckoo clock!) Davide and his family were wonderful hosts throughout the week. We experienced much of the surrounding area--including a vineyard and wine tasting at Montalcino, arranged by Davide, and Montalpulciano, Arrezzo, Cortona, Pienza, a country inn down the road, etc. Wine and olive oil, produced from the estate's grapes and olive trees, were available at the villa. Excellent coffee was on tap every morning with a push of the button on the Gaggia. We enjoyed a couple of walks in the beautiful countryside on roads surrounding the villa. We stayed there with three other couples. There was plenty of space to be together or to go off and read while enjoying a view.

A pool, several outdoor seating areas, and laundry on-site--all made this a perfect week's stay in between our travels elsewhere.

An Ideal Spot for Your Home Base in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

The Villa Borgo Valecchio is a perfect place to begin and end your visit to Tuscany. The Villa sits at the base of the hilltop medieval City of Cortona and is centrally located for your day trips to the nearby towns and villages. As you can see from the photographs the villa is situated on perfectly manicured grounds. The interior provides a spacious and welcoming environment that accommodated the eight of us quite easily with roll out sofas if more sleeping space is needed. Each bedroom has its own beautifully appointed bathrrom that includes a tiled shower, while one had its own bath. Views from all the bedrooms are spectacular. Davide and is family are happy to prepare a meal for you (you can discuss price and menu) or if you are lucky you might be invited to a pizza dinner at their home.

While Siena is a 1 1/2 hour drive Florence is an easy train ride from the nearby station.

The eight of us hired a local guide for a 1/2 day walking tour of the city. Then we were left on

our own to explore the City before boarding the return train to our Villa. Also located close by are numerous smaller towns, each unique and Davide will supply you with info and suggestions.

While the hilltop town of Cortona is a winding 10 minute drive from the Villa and has an ample number of good restaurants, we chose to have a main meal about mid afternoon thus avoiding these unfamiliar roads in the night. There is a wonderful gourmet market on the main road to the villa that carries all that you will need to include your staples, a butcher, a great cheese counter, wines and liquor and much more.

Because we were late in the fall we were able to book the villa for ten days enabling us to enjoy several groups of friends throughout our visit. During our stay the family was more than helpful and added immensely to our stay. Again a wonderful time was had by all.

**********We found it most helpful to have a GPS system that included "Google Maps" since all you need enter is Borgo Valecchio and the "girl" takes you the front door of the villa.

Beautiful slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely villa for a week with three other couples. What you do not see in the photos is that each bedroom has its own suite with bathroom and living area. It is great for large family or couples. The property itself is just beautiful with its lovely views and gardens.

The best part of our stay here is the Baldoni family. They immediately welcome you and invite you in to their home and family. Pizza night at their home was amazing. Sara made us all delicious home made pizza from her outdoor ovens.

We also chose to have a nights dinner prepared by Sara with the help of Chiara and Alicia. It was a fabulous Tuscan meal, and made for a very special last night in the Villa with our friends.

I highly recommend Borgo Valecchie for a lovely visit to the Cortona area of Italy.

Many thanks to Lorenzo, Sara, Davide, Chiara, and Alicia.

Fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

This property is stellar. We did not know what to expect when driving to the villa but when we pulled into the driveway we were in awe. Everything about the property is fantastic. It is super clean both inside and out. There is ample room for 10-12 people but enough space that it never felt crowded. Every room is tastefully decorated. The bathrooms look almost new and are of ample size for Europe. There is a washing machine but no dryer so plan accordingly. There are numerous pictures on VRBO but they do not do the villa any justice, you have to see it in person.

The grounds are beautiful, with date trees, olive trees, grape vines in abundance. There is a small garden in which to pick fresh vegetables to use for cooking; we did so on many occasions.

Our 3 kids spent a lot of time in the pool. Which worked out great as it was extremely hot the days we were there.

The first night you arrive you will have a pizza dinner with the family, freshly made in the pizza oven adjacent to their house. It had to be some of the best pizza I have had, this coming from a New Yorker. Homemade wine and limoncello to boot. The whole evening was a spectacular experience.

The villa is about a 10 minute drive from Cortona. There is a small market about 5 minutes away, as well as a great little local bar for coffee, snacks, and drinks if you desire, and the locals made you feel at home.

One of the highlights of the visit was the day long wine tour hosted by Davide, the son/manager of the villa. He is extremely knowledgeable with regard to local wines and this is definitely his passion. We did 2 awesome wineries, with a lunch stop at a fantastic restaurant in Montlepulciano. It was a long day (8hrs) but he will tailor it to your needs.

Location wise, you are 1 hour from Siena, 1.5 hrs. from Assisi, ½ hour to Montlepulciano. Camucia is the closest big town with bigger stores, about 20 minutes away.

I cannot say enough good things about the property. Our only regret is not spending more time in the area, but we will return. Many thanks to Lorenzo, Sara, Davide, Chiara, and Alicia for a most memorable experience!

The Epicenter of a Dream Vacation in the Italian Countryside!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Borgo Valecchie for 5 nights in October 2016 for what was truly a dream vacation. Our group of 4 adults and 1 young toddler were greeted by a wonderful host family, spacious, private and impeccable accommodations in the heart of the beautiful and scenic Italian countryside in Tuscany. With enough space, rooms and sleeping arrangements, this gorgeous historic villa, easily and comfortably could accommodate 8 to 10 adults, without a problem. A large outdoor swimming pool, an outdoor covered eating lanai, hammock and olive trees greeted us daily on the beautiful grounds of the villa. With a small garden right outside the front door, we were even able to pick some freshly grown vegetables and herbs in order to hand prepare a meal we decided to make one night which included buffalo mozzarella and fresh tomatoes from the garden. One of the highlights of our stay however, was when we were invited by our host family to visit their home on the villa property for an authentic, homemade pizza and wine dinner. Absolutely amazing!

Located about a 15 minute drive from Cortona and a few hours drive from Rome, the villa truly became our home base to explore the many beautiful towns found throughout Tuscany. From Borgo Valecchie, we were able to visit towns such Montepulciano, Sienna and Cortona all within a few minutes to an hour or so drive. And the drives through the scenic countryside were truly breathtaking.

All in all, if you're looking to stay in true Tuscany style, away from the crowds, in embedded in the beautiful culture of the Italian Countryside, this is your place!

Amazing Tuscan Villa!

  • 5 of 5

Me and 5 of my friends stayed for 10 days last month after watching the Giro d'Italia bike race for 6 days. The villa was better than advertised and more beautiful than the photos show. The villa had everything we needed, including a wine "closet" full of local and regional wines selected by our host Davide. Each suite was large with a private bath. The grounds were lush and green with olive trees, herb garden and strawberries. The large pool area was well done and private. Davide was an excellent host who shared his vast knowledge of the area. In addition, using his expertise as a sommelier he set up two wine tastings for us at vineyards in the area. The wines were excellent! Davide and his family went out of their way to ensure he had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
