Large and Quiet 2 Bedrooms Apartment in limited traffic area, Padua centre
Elisa apartment is located on the first floor of a 18th century building in the centre of historical Padua. The owner is a contemporary art collector and has enjoyed to furnish it in a stylish modern taste. Colors are protagonists of the interiors: the bright green of the moquette (wall-to-wall carpeting) matches perfectly with the red of the kitchen furnishing and the purple of the living room sofa. The white and clean walls help the other colors to fade into each other in an harmonious ensemble.
The apartment consists of an entrance leading to a corridor at the end of which you find on the right side the living room and on the left side the kitchen with the dining area; a supplementary large door connects the two common rooms. Before the end of the corridor on the right hand side you find a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, as well as a bathroom with tub. On the other side of the corridor there is the second bathroom with shower and a very spacious closet available for hanging dresses and coats; here a washing machine is also available. The apartment is full of light and its windows overlook two secondary roads of Padua city centre, the area has limited traffic access and for this reason it is very quiet. The building also has a small lift which can hold up to 2 people. The bedrooms are spacious and bright, the bathroom with tub has a window whereas the one with the shower is blind and equipped with a forced air system. Two extra beds are available: one in the entrance room and one in the living room (sofa bed).
All important monuments of Padua can be easily and soon reached by foot from the apartment, as well as bars and restaurants. The famous and typical vegetable and fruit market (Piazza dell Erbe) is only 5 min walk from the apartment. Even the railway station is reachable by foot, and bus stops to go anywhere are all within 10 min walk. If you are traveling by car a parking is available just 100 m from the apartment. Our guests will find in the apartment a book plenty of information about monuments in Padua, restaurants, bars, grocery shops as well as emergency numbers.

Lovely apartment, well cared for, excellent location, excellent hostess
Quirky but pleasing decor, good quality furnishings, nice baths, comfortable beds, an efficient and well equipped kitchen. A friendly and helpful hostess, a terrific location in the heart of Old Padua, seconds or minutes by foot from all the good things. A perfect place for a Padua stay for 2-4 people.
Perfection in Padua
We stayed at this apartment in Padua for 11 days. It was incredible. The location was absolutely perfect. Central to everything. We walked everywhere, although the tram service was close by and easy to use. We even walked to the train station for day trips to Venice. Couldn't be simpler. The apartment was all on one floor and had a lift--perfect for my elderly mother. The apartment was clean, large, well-stocked with all the necessary items (washer/dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker, plenty of dishes, coffee cups, etc.) and even had air conditioning, supplemented by room fans. It was a pleasure to come "home" each evening after a long day of sightseeing. Mattresses were comfortable (very firm, which is helpful for my back!) and the two bathrooms were a nice luxury. It was such a joy to be able to open the huge windows and hear the daily life of Padua going on below. But when you closed the windows it was nice and quiet for sleeping. Wifi was available, strongest near the front door and weaker towards the back of the apartment, but no problem at all. There was a comfortable seating area near the front door so it was a great place to check messages and plan the next day's adventure.
I would go back to Padua in a second--it is a wonderful city--and I would not want to stay anywhere else but this apartment. The price was reasonable and, as previously stated, the location is ideal. Restaurants, cafes, shopping, historic sites, and churches were all just a short stroll away. The best part is that Padua is not a huge tourist destination (it is more of a college town) so we felt that we were truly experiencing living in Italy. We could walk to the local fruit market and pattiserie for fresh fruit and pastry, with a stop along the way for a cappucino. We had dinner out each night and never ate at the same restaurant twice. We also had gelato every day, again at a different place each time And there were many more cafes, restaurants and gelaterias that we didn't get to!
Art and culture abound in Padua. We toured no fewer than five churches/cathedrals, all magnificent. The museums and historic sites are well worth a visit, particularly Palazzo Bo and the Anatomical Theatre--fascinating! Padua is truly a world-class city.
Thank you to Francesca, Anna and Mariana for a memorable vacation!
Wonderful apartment in perfect location
The apartment is roomy, light, and very clean, with a fun decorative scheme. The very large bed in the master bedroom is wonderfully comfortable. Both bathrooms are spacious and modern. The "disco" tub is great fun to see (we used it as our night light!). The kitchen is well-equipped and convenient for making meals from delicious market bounty. The first floor location is easy for in and out, and the lift is excellent for luggage transport.
The location is optimal, being a lovely and quick walk away from the main sites in the historic center. It is near public transportation, and also a walkable distance (20 minutes) from the main train station. Nights in the apartment are beautifully quiet.
Francesca and her property manager Anna are delightful and immediately responsive to all communications, for which we were very grateful. We also greatly appreciated the cleaning service and change of linens that was included in the middle of our two-week stay.
thanks a lot for your kind words! We are so happy to hear that you have enjoyed your stay in Padua and the accommodation: we also think that the central position of the apartment and at the same time the quiet and silent environment is a plus. and yes indeed, the fact that the owner is an art collector adds a lot of character to the apartment, the bath tub being a clear example of that! We hope to see you again in Padua!
Wonderful apartment in the middle of town
This is a spacious and comfortable apartment in the heart of Padua, literally just a few minutes' walk from every major square. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and bright, and it is wonderful to have a washer and dryer. The air conditioning system was not effective, and very hot days could have been uncomfortable; wifi was also sometimes problematic, although usually OK. Fortunately management was extremely responsive, both in receiving us upon our arrival and providing help and guidance, rapidly sending staff to address our needs (even bringing fans). The apartment really helped make our stay in Padua and we'd definitely love to return again!
Full of light, tucked in the heart of the old city
This is a gorgeous classic apartment with two big bedrooms a great eat-in kitchen and light-filled comfortable livingroom. Washer-dryer in the apartment. Two bathrooms one with a large tub. Situated a short walk from the main walking street and historic food markets in the middle of the historic center with lovely shops and great restaurants and cafes. Easy walking distance to everything in Padova. The only negative is that one of the bathrooms is between the 2 bedrooms off the main hall the other is on the main hall near the livingroom and kitchen. So if you are sharing the apartment with a second couple or children, you must leave your bedroom to use the facilities. That is, neither bathroom is en suite. There is an elevator to reach this apartment with 2 steps up from the street level. Small step-out balconies for kitchen and livingroom.
A wonderful immersion experience in Italy!
We stayed in this flat in Padova for two months. First, the pictures do well represent the apartment. It is spacious, clear, airy, and quite a pleasant place to live. It could not be better located in the center of the city. There are numerous markets, shops, restaurants, enotecas and beer bars, all within a very short walking distance (less than 1/4 mile or .3 kilometers). The kitchen is well equipped, there is a super wifi service, many electrical outlets, and a washer (dryer available on request). Everything works and weekly cleaning is included. Over those two months we had no problems except for not being able to figure out the stove and locking ourselves out once. The manager of the flat was very responsive and problems were solved almost immediately. I cannot recommend this place more highly and hope that we can return for another extended stay next year. As an aside, Padova is a great place to be for the city history, but also is a great jumping off point to visit many local sites and close by cities via car or train.
many thanks for your nice words, it is such a pleasure to learn that your two months in Padova have been enjoyable. You surely have had enough time to discover the most hidden and beautiful sides of the city, and we are happy that you have decided to stay in Casa Elisa.
I truly hope we will have the chance to welcome you again in Padova soon,
with my best regards,
Padova, or Padua in English, is situated in a very strategic position in the Veneto, only 30 km West of Venice and within an hour of train from most cities of art in the region such as Vicenza, Verona, Rovigo, Ferrara, Bologna and only an hour and an half by train from Florence. Padua has a very illustrious history. In the middle ages, as an independent center of power under the leadership of the da Carrara family, Padua was controlling most of the Veneto region and it has it has constituted a real menace to Venice need of development in the main land.
Here is a list of the most important monument in the city and what I consider a must see:
The Scrovegni Chapel painted by Giotto, the frescos are one of the most important and precious masterpieces of Italian art. The walls are painted with scenes from the life of Jesus and Mary. The Chapel is within the same complex of the Museo degli Eremitani including the archaeological museum and the a collection of paintings by Giotto, Guariento, Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, Tiepolo and a large overview of Venetian paintings from '400 to '800.
The university of Padua, called il Bo, is one of the oldest in the world. It was founded in 1222 and it lists among its eminent students and teachers Copernico and Galileo Galilei. The university's Botanical Garden, founded in 1545, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because “it is the origin of all the botanical gardens in the world and represents the cradle of science, scientific exchange and understanding of the relations between nature and culture.” In the university it is also possible to visit the oldest anatomical theatre in the world. The room built in 1594 is perfectly preserved. It has the shape of a Roman theatre with the up going tiers for the students overlooking the central area where it is still visible the original dissecting table.
The Basilica of St Anthony of Padua is the symbol of the city, it was built between 1232 and 1310. The Basilica is the second most visited church in Italy after St Peter in Rome. Here the pilgrims come to see and pray to the relics of S. Antony, the Portuguese Franciscan saint who died in Padua in 1231.
The Palazzo della Ragione, the building was the Court of Padua and its construction began in 1218. The first floor consists in a single room, the largest hanging room in the world, the walls are painted with astrological themes, here is sheltered a huge wooden horse, manufactured on Count Annibal Capodilista’s will for a grand feast in 1466. The Palazzo divides the two squares, Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta, enliven daily by a lively fruit and vegetable market. The ground floor of the Salone is full of little very good high quality food shops.
The Padua Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and its Baptistery: a grand Romanic church which was built in 313 and went through many architectonical changes over the centuries. The Baptistery is very beautiful with frescos by Giusto de’ Menabuoi, a painter active in Padua in the second half of the 14th century.
The Caffè Pedrocchi by the architect Giuseppe Jappelli (1783 – 1852). This café is worldly famous as the “door less café”, so-called because until 1916 it was open 24 hours a day. It is located in front of the university and it has been an important meeting place for artists, intellectuals and students.
Prato della Valle is the largest square in Italy and the second one in Europe after the red square in Russia. In the medieval time it was the place for military parades and folk festivals. Today is a meeting place for students and families. Every 3rd Sunday of the month there is an antique market. In the centre of the square there is an island enclosed by a canal and 78 18th century statues, representing important people for the history of Padua.
