Compass Cottage lies in the heart of the village and is nearby the local pub, The Fisherman’s Return, a 300 year old establishment offering local ales, good food and facilities for families, including a large safe garden. Historic Norwich lies 20 miles to the West with its fine cathedral, ancient cobbled streets and great shops. Only 25 miles north is the North Norfolk Coast and the well known towns of Cromer, Sheringham and Wells next the Sea and ten miles south lies Great Yarmouth for family entertainment, amusements and all that is traditional for a lively English seaside resort.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a wonderful holiday cottage, we have stayed at many holiday properties big & small, the owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure everything is provided, even down to little things like cotton wool balls in bathroom and spare light bulbs. This cottage is delightful from the time you enter the cosy lounge.

Not far from beach so wonderful for the dogs, they had a great time. Good Beach cafe with sumptuous cakes! Winterton is a lovely village, lots of thatched cottages and roses round the doors. Although in a quiet village not far from the rest of the world!

Clean, comfortable and cosy

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed in Winterton at the Admiral cottage on 2 occasions now.

Cozy and comfortable with plenty of character.

Would recommend to anyone.

Ideal for two, with good local amenities and also close to the beach.

Weather was not too bad for time of year (January), so managed to fit in a couple of long coastal walks, ideal get away from all the stresses of work ♥️

Excellent property, good size and has everything you need

  • 5 of 5

We were pleasantly surprised on arrival at the property as it was larger than we expected. The welcome pack was a lovely touch as we had been travelling for a while and it was nice to be able to have a cup of tea with fresh milk.

The cottage was really warm and we loved the log burner. A small supply of wood was also provided which was another lovely touch.

The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need.

It was a very clean property and had plenty of space. The shower was really powerful and I struggled to get my husband out of it!

The location was perfect for the beach and travelling to places in the area. The pub behind the cottage was lovely and served good food.

We would happily return again.

Magical cottage and location WONDERFUL happy times!

  • 5 of 5

We simply loved our stay! We spent Christmas 2017 in the Admirals cottage wich was decorated very tastefully. Comfortable chairs and couch, roaring fire which was well stocked with wood kindling and lighters.

Everything worked, the hot water was strong and hot. Beds we comfy with fluffy pillow and puffy duvets all super clean criusp and really pretty.

The garden was well kept anmd safe for our doggies to go out play and have a bathroom break.

Parking is off road and safe fitsd a 6 seater with ease.

The kitchen is cute and well thought out with everything we needed we even cooked Christmas lunch, set the dining table in front of the fire and enjoyed.

Internet coverage was perfect we watched out Netflix s with ease

All in all the best break we have had in years! Friendly pub behind the property the Fisherman's Return and the doggies went with us too.

We were very luck the seals has pups on the beach behind the cottage so we went to see them. They even put doggy towels for their feet in the vestibule as you go in so we could wipe their feet from the beech - *****WONDERFUL THANK YOU TO SAM*****

Super base to enjoy the miles of unspoilt beach and cheeky seals

  • 5 of 5

Admiral's Cottage is just so relaxing. Very quiet, peaceful oasis. The little shops in the village met all our needs and the beach cafe does a better chowder than most French restos. This is a place for soul rebuilding.

Don't miss the dunes - a sheltered, sun trap.
