Winterton on Sea is ideally placed to explore the Norfolk coastline with its quiet sandy beaches, picturesque villages, bird sanctuaries and nature reserves. Nature lovers will find the Norfolk Broads a great attraction, as will walkers and cyclists. Above all, Winterton provides an opportunity to get away from it all as its beaches and tranquillity are what make it so special. Compass Cottage lies in the heart of the village and is nearby the local pub, The Fisherman’s Return, a 300 year old establishment offering local ales, good food and facilities for families, including a large safe garden. Historic Norwich lies 20 miles to the West with its fine cathedral, ancient cobbled streets and great shops. Only 25 miles north is the North Norfolk Coast and the well known towns of Cromer, Sheringham and Wells next the Sea and ten miles south lies Great Yarmouth for family entertainment, amusements and all that is traditional for a lively English seaside resort.

Admiral Cottage - too short a stay.
We booked Admiral Cottage for a short break but didn't want to come home. It looked really good when we booked and fully lived up to its promise. Very quaint, well equipped and exceptionally well situated for the (dog friendly) pub which you can reach in under a minute. Winterton is sweet if very quiet. Would have no hesitation in returning.
Lovely cottage, great location, excellently equipped
A week in this great cottage, great walks on the beach to Horsey & Hemsby. Day trip out on broads and a lovely walk along the river at Stokesby
Admiral Cottage is in an excellent location
The cottage is spotless clean rooms are well laid out welcome package appreciated we walked with the dogs each morning along the dunes and down to the beach all less than 5 mins away
Cozy Cottage close to wonderful beach
Lovely little cottage set in a pretty village. Admiral Cottage had everything we needed plus the extra touches of some goodies. It is very close to the beach and dunes which were absolutely perfect for walking the dogs. They had a great time. Lovely cafe on the beach which has beach huts to sit in with the pooches. We will be back !
All amenities available, fantastic village
Clean, comfortable and cosy
We have stayed in Winterton at the Admiral cottage on 2 occasions now.
Cozy and comfortable with plenty of character.
Would recommend to anyone.
Ideal for two, with good local amenities and also close to the beach.
Weather was not too bad for time of year (January), so managed to fit in a couple of long coastal walks, ideal get away from all the stresses of work ♥️
