Guestbook comments from the manager

Well worth being picked up at the airport and taken directly to the apartment where the owners met us for an full familiarisation of their home. They had left a bottle of wine for us as a welcome and provided household products including toothpaste and dishwasher tablets. The fourth floor apartment, serviced by a small communal lift is quite unique. The fantastic views over the city did not fail to impress. The apartment is full of modern art, old paintings and antique furnishings. Although some aspects of the decor and contents were fairly basic or limited it was in every way a most enjoyable stay. The electricity failed one evening as we had inadvertently overloaded the supply but the owner quickly came to our rescue and was at pains to ensure that we were comfortable before he left. The locality is very close to one of the busiest tourist areas ( and to the metro and buses) but we were tucked away near the university and a religious order in a quiet and safe street with a wonderful local restaurant and a couple of simple cafes that the owners recommended. Don't miss out - go for the apartment and go to the restaurant too. you won't be disappointed!!

Exceeded all expectations

Review of Rome apartment

The apartment exceeded all expectations. It was full of light, lovely antiques, art – both antique and modern – and personal details that made us feel as if we were in the home of old friends. The apartment was full of books and art work that had been dedicated to the owners, giving it a very special personal feel. The location is superb: right up the hill from the Coliseum and around the corner from San Pietro In Vicolo, the site of Michelangelo’s Moses. A five-minute walk offers gourmet food shopping and the Monti neighborhood of local shops and restaurants. There was a lively, academic atmosphere on our street because the engineering university is a block away, along with two nice bistros on the corner and a good neighborhood restaurant down the block.

Our hosts greeted us on arrival and offered very helpful assistance on the kitchen, internet –which worked very well, telephones, taxis, restaurants, and concerts. They had stocked the refrigerator with clementines for Christmas, as well as milk, coffee, a bottle of wine, and other essentials.

We were there with an adult son. There was a spacious, lovely, antique filled living room/dining room, similarly a sitting room/bedroom, and another large bedroom, in addition to a large kitchen/breakfast room, and gracious entry hall. Two full baths made it very convenient for a two generation family. A self service entrance made the fourth floor location easy. And the views in all directions were very special, including vistas across Rome at sunset and a special private garden next door.

A wonderful week in Rome

  • 5 of 5

This flat is just lovely. The furnishings are all antique and wonderfully arranged. The kitchen is particularly nice, with views of the adjoining garden. We stayed in Rome just over a week and our friend stayed in the apartment as well, arriving a couple days after us. The flat was very comfortable and the second bed in the office area was perfect for our guest.

The nearby neighbourhood of Monti provided some wonderful dining and a bit of local flavour. The owner met us on site to check us in and provided many insider tips for the area. It would be difficult to imagine a nicer place to stay. Attention to details really added to the charm of the place.

A very special place

  • 5 of 5

For our very first visit to Rome my friend and I were looking for a special apartment in a centrally located part of the city. We were happy that we found this apartment, which is in a side street off the Colosseum. Filled with antiques, it oozes atmosphere and you have a unique view over part of Rome from the windows at the back of the apartment. For two people it is very spacious. It has one big bedroom. The other bed is more of a sofa bed and is in a separate room, which is also part of the living area. The arrangement worked well for us. In addition to the warm atmosphere, the apartment is clean, simply, but tastefully furnished and has all one basically needs. With so many excellent restaurants in Rome, many of them in walking distance, we did not do any cooking at home.

Not only the restaurants are walking distance, but also many or most of all the impressive sights of the city. It proved an ideal spot for us.

The owners who greeted us upon arrival were lovely. It was the first time they rented out the apartment and they wanted to make sure that we would feel at home. They also gave us many suggestions for things to do, what to see and where to eat.

In short, we can highly recommend this apartment for those who want more than the average holiday apartment in this wonderful city!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your appreciation and for sharing your delight with this exceptional apartment. I might only add that for two couples, the second bed that you mention is actually not at all a sofa bed, but a brand new luxury queen mattress which uses an antique day bed as its headboard and is permanently open ie it cannot close up, As there are TWO living rooms, this becomes a private bedroom with its own doors and its own bathroom if two couples of family of 3 share, So it does hold 4 quite comfortably- and equally. We hope that you will return soon,
