About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 5. Secluded Neighborhood, Wildlife

This two-bedroom, one bathroom apartment is located adjacent to the owner's home (separate entrance) on more than 2.5 wooded acres in the upper hillside of south Anchorage, Alaska. Apartment includes fully equipped kitchen, laundry, and living area with TV, free Wi-Fi, etc. Bedrooms have blackout curtains to help you sleep under the midnight sun! A fabulous view can be seen out of every room in the house, including the Alaska mountain range, Chugach range, volcanoes, and Cook Inlet. Moose are frequent visitors, also chance to see lynx, bear, owls, hares, and the occasional wolverine.

Close enough to enjoy the City of Anchorage but far enough away to feel like you have gotten away from it all! Close to hiking and skiing trails and the Alaska Zoo, Althetic Club, or the golf course. The location is about 20 minutes from the Airport or downtown, and 5 minutes from the Seward Highway (access to the Kenai Peninsula to the south and all points north). Hiking trails from the backyard connect to a municipal trail system along Rabbit Creek. Owners live next door and would be happy to share stories or provide advice for sightseeing opportunities.

Call me to reserve it directly without service fees. We request 50% down-payment and the remaining amount due on arrival.

More information including a location map, floor plan, and more are available on our 'rabbitcreekstudio . com' website. Or please call or email us for more information.

About Kim

Mike, Kim, and dogs in Bear Valley, just a hike away from the house. Picture taken in late spring when it is sunny and the snow is almost melted.

Kim purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Kim chose Anchorage

We chose this location for our home and your vacation rental, because it is situated on a relatively large (2.5 acre) secluded property, close enough to the activities, culture, and our jobs in the City of Anchorage, yet far enough away and in the mountains that we feel like we are in the wilderness. There is a fantastic 360 degree view of the mountains; the ocean, hiking and skiing trails are right out our back door; wildlife such as moose, bear, lynx, coyote, owls, hawks, rabbits, and birds frequent our property every day. We just love living here!

What makes this apartment unique

Some of the unique benefits you will enjoy while staying at our property are the same benefits as the reasons we chose to live here ourselves. The unique wilderness setting combined with the closeness to the City of Anchorage, the airport, and the highway access to the famed Kenai Peninsula. The evening sunsets over Cook Inlet and views of the mountains and volcanoes beyond. Plus, all the comforts of a modern home, including wireless internet, cable TV, BBQ grille, and full kitchen and laundry facilities. Plus new friends right next door! Welcome! We look forward to meeting you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Quiet Neighborhood and relaxing views. Saw a momma moose and calf the first morning. Loved it! For those that want to see Alaska without being cosmopolitan, this is ideal. Mike and Kim are great hosts.

Perfect Spot with Gracious Hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We recently visited Alaska for the first time and had some very specific adventures in mind. We chose this house for a few reasons - two of which were that it was not downtown and it was a very short drive to a location where we planned on spending a lot of time hiking (and hopefully photographing wildlife).

We arrived after dark and the hosts were very accommodating in helping us get settled. The house was clean, quiet, spacious, well-equipped and a delight to arrive to after a long and tiring day of travel.

We were close to everything, but tucked away in a nice quiet area, with no traffic, views of mountains, easy access to Rt 1. It is in the perfect location.

The hosts were invisible, except for when we asked for recommendations, advice or help. We arrived 'home' one evening to a wonderful surprise of homemade rhubarb squares and smoked salmon!!

This will definitely be our place to stay when (not if) we return!!

Thank you K&M!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us! Great to chat about your photography adventures and share our favorite places to view moose! Saw one in the backyard the day after you left (lol)!

Great place to stay before cruising!!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful accommodations for a short stay in Anchorage before sailing on our cruise. Not too far from the city and very quiet. Would think about putting a mirror up in the 2nd bedroom since 4 adults shared one bath. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We loved out stay here! We had a moose right I the yard 2/3 nights and Kim was an awesome host. We had plenty of space and the location was secluded enough that we had plenty of time for relaxation.
