A luxury waterfront retreat, this home includes six beautifully appointed bedrooms and a large family room that is complete with a pool table, big screen TV, and gas fireplace. The furnishings include European pine antiques and original artwork. Overlooking tranquil Holmes Harbor on Whidbey Island, this large shingled home boasts two decks with a path to your own private waterfront beach rich with clams and mussels. And, of course, there is a hot tub overlooking the water. The gorgeous property is framed for privacy by towering evergreens and is set on 200 feet of waterfront surrounded by mature apple and cherry trees.
Our family had an amazing time at the Harbor Retreat. The house was amazing, very clean, and extremely comfortable. The kids LOVED the hot tub and the rope swing. We will definately stay in this house again.

I am somewhat confused reguarding the below reviews and feel as though we were mislead on more than a few items--although this house does have positive points.
We are all seasoned national and international travelers and meet for a family reunion (15 of us) at a house somewhere different in the U.S. each year.
This is definitely not a "luxury vacation rental" and is marketed as such. The house is in need of TLC. The carpet has not been replaced in maybe 20 years and needs to be pulled all over the house. There is a "no shoe rule" but I am not sure why. The carpet is worn and needs to go.
The basement smells extremely unpleasant- a mix between must and urine. It has a few of the bedrooms. It is almost unbearable. Pull carpet and a permanent dehumidifier may help.
The upstairs beds received good reviews from family memembers.
However, the basement beds need replacing. My sister-in-law and I are extremely sore after a week on these mattresses. Also, assess the bed coverings. A few are very stained (especially the basement/bath combo one). Replace the basement couch- not acceptable (assess the fabric). Replace the family room blue couch -stained and the dining room chairs-very tired.
Also, replace the uncomfortable wooden "pew" and dated wicker chairs in the family room. Think about updating the tired valances.
The appliances are great (dishwasher, fridge (small), stove top, washer and dryer), but the kitchen is small and has not been remodeled in 20-30 years. There is limited cooking, storage, and service items.
The location is five star as is the quiet neighborhood. Gorgeous decks to enjoy and a good yard.
Also a point of concern for those not familiar with the area ... the "beach" below is only good for combing- walkers sink into the muddy sand, full of rocks and mussel shells, and is only accessible at all during low tide. Not a real kiddo-friendly beach although the location and proximity to Double-Bluff Beach is redeeming. We were told this was a "sandy beach" good for kids. This is not what we had in mind.
With a little TLC and some much needed investment, this could be a luxury rental but is clearly not.
However, this is a fabulous location for being central to everything, daytripping, stunning view, off the main road, and serene.
What a beautiful place! Lots of light! The kitchen appliances were very modern and great for cooking plus there was a bbq out on the deck. The bedrooms were beautiful and I slept better there than I do at home. I only wish our beach was sandy instead of rocky but it was still fun looking for shells. It's really close to the town of Freeland which is great if you need more groceries, gas etc. I found the overall location great for many short day trips as well: Langley, Port Townsend, we also checked out Meerkerk Gardens and the beach at Double Bluff Park was beautiful. We travelled from Canada, it was a only few hours travel for us which was perfect! Gina was very helpful with any questions.
My extended family came to the house for an overdue family gathering with my mother, my kids, my sister and her family. What a terrific home. It accommodate all of us in our own bedroom, but the amenities were just amazing. Everything we wanted was right there for us. The large deck was perfect for our family dinner and we loved the hot tub and the pool table. The kids truly enjoyed the visit to Fort Casey - a must do when on Whidbey. We hope to be back sometime soon.
My family walked into the Harbor Retreat - and WOW was the first thing we could think of! It is gorgeous! What a perfect house for our family. The appliances were all brand new, the hot tub was perfect, and the little kids loved the rope swing. The bedding was sooooo comfortable too! I loved the wood fireplace but my husband liked the pool table best! Special thanks to Gina and her staff for making our vacation just amazing.
Dig clams on your own private beach, or watch the sunsets from one of two large decks on the property. Play pool on the full-size pool table located in the family room, or watch a video or DVD on one of the many televisions. Or the kids may enjoy playing a game on the X-Box or check their email with the provided computer.
