This 2 bedroom cabin is a great find! Tucked amid a wooded setting with attractive landscaping, flower gardens, deck, outdoor play structure and sandbox, gas grill, and fire pit. It's location offers peace and quiet, yet the Island's villages, ocean, lakes, & hiking trails of Acadia National Park are just a short drive away. You can swim in any of several priostine nearby ponds, lakes, or harbors. Combined kitchen/ living/ dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows; spacious full bath; 1 bedroom with 1 twin bed & 1 double; large bedroom with queen bed, and expansive windows.
I write this while sitting by a campfire at the Cozy Country Cabin. This is the perfect vacation rental for a small family. It is centrally located to so many things. Minutes from Acadia National Park, fresh and salt water beaches, downtown Bsr Harbor and so much more. The cottage is located on a wooded property that gives you the feeling of being in a remote forest area. It is so quiet and peaceful. The cottage is just as the pictures show, and Steve and Rose couldn't be nicer. This has been a perfectly perfect vacation!
We chose this place to stay with another couple and it was perfect for our week on Mt. Desert Island. It was just as pictured. To be honest though, we didn't spend a lot of time here because the Acadia is just too beautiful to sit at home. There were plenty of good places for kayaking: Echo Lake, Somes Pond & Seal Cove to name a few, and the hiking in the park is breathtaking (literally). Steve and Rose were great hosts and answered a lot of questions for us on the first day. When we were at the cabin we cooked a few good meals out on the deck from the seafood we caught and what bought right up the road from "Rat's". If you have young kids - the place would be great just because of the playground.
We have stayed at Cozy Cabin 2 times now and are now planning to come back again for the third. We have three young children and the cabin is wonderful for enjoying the area. Though small, it is well stocked and pretty. The location makes it easy to get to the Park, or into Bar Harbor, and its proximity to Echo Lake is great on a hot day with antsy kids. All three kids can sleep comfortably in one bedroom (two in a full bed and one in a single) and they love it's campy atmosphere, with plank ceilings and white paper lanterns for lights. The other bedroom is large with beautiful windows, giving it the atmosphere of sleeping outside. The cabin has great outdoor areas for sitting, eating, playing and last year there was even a bunny to go visit. The bathroom is pretty utilitarian, which is fine for us, but if you want a fancy tub, look elsewhere. The owners, when on site, are warm and friendly, and very accommodating. Overall, it's a lovely spot, equally great as a home-base for day-trips, or to just hang-out in a wooded spot on the deck with the grill fired up. We hope to keep coming back as much as we can! Highly recommended.
Just back from a week in this charming cabin in the quiet middle of Mt Desert Island. The place was spotless and had almost everything we needed for our family of three to have a perfect vacation. From the peaceful mornings in the Adirondack chairs in back to the quiet evenings with all the windows open to enjoy the crisp Maine air - I highly recommend this cabin! The location, layout etc were exactly as advertised. The only maintenance issue of concern was that one set of blinds in the master BR are missing; our family goes to be at wildly different times and the early-to-bed had living room light pouring in, plus changing clothes privately was a trick. (We did not request a repair, and they may have fixed by now.) I bought a corkscrew for the kitchen, otherwise it was stocked as well as we needed. But, these are minor minor details. We would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks Steve and Rose for having us.
As for the area, we enjoyed eating in Southwest Harbor (Beal's for lobsters, Quietside Cafe for a quick lunch and AMAZING pies!). The market up 102 in Town Hill makes good sandwiches and good browsing as well. Bar Harbor is probably more enjoyable when it's not peak tourist season, but Mt Desert Ice Cream (adjacent to the village green/bus station) is not to be missed. On the other side of the green, we enjoyed quick lunches at Tamarind, rarely too crowded and a decent selection. But we spent most of our time in Acadia. Loved the area, loved our vacation, loved our little cabin. Thanks again!
To whom would I recommend the property? Anyone with a car. My 18yo probably would have enjoyed himself a bit more if he could have gone wandering without parents now and then - a bit isolated for that when he's too young to drive the rental car and not on the bus line. But perfect for younger children, with a nice fenced playground and separately fenced deck. A sweetheart of a dog and two wandering roosters were fun touches.
I recently spent 1 week here with my 2 kids and we found the cozy cottage perfect! The cottage was everything we had hoped it would be- clean, very comfortable and well located to all the areas we wanted to go such as Acadia, Bar Harbor, etc. There was a grocery store and gas station not far from the cottage which was very convenient. Although we were on the owners property, the landscaping and layout made it feel we were alone in the woods. This is the first time we have ever rented a place and had heard many horror stories from others but we can honestly say this is just as described and we would love the chance to return for a longer stay. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a place to get away from it all yet be close to almost any activity they could think of. The parts of Maine we saw over our week long vacation were magnificent and made it very hard to leave. Go..enjoy!!! You will not regret it. Deb, Chris and Nicole
