Located on the Oceanside of Butler Avenue a short walk to the oceanfront beach and Back River beach, where morning sunrises and evening sunsets can be viewed over the ocean and back river marsh.
Our house is located just off the beaten path near shops, restaurants and the Tybee Pier and Pavilion, where you can have an after dinner walk for ice cream or an inspection of the evenings catch on the pier. Water sports are available with kayak rentals, surfing, boogie boarding and all of the traditional activities one enjoys in the ocean or on the beach. Bikes can be rented 3 blocks away. Tybee is fun to explore by bike.
Historic Savannah is a 25 minute drive away. The loft area is not suitable for children under 8 ish. Also...the blinds may be a bit dusty. The house will likely not be spotlessly clean....this is 175$ per night with a 55$ cleaning fee. In the 4 hr turnover time the cleaner has a lot of laundry to wash. My house is a very good value. But if you want spotless look elsewhere or be prepared to clean some. Also, my sister's house is next door. Her house is mostly for when her family comes. 1 leg of the L shaped porch is for my house. There is a 20% chance that there will be people on the other side enjoying my sister's porch. Expect crowds in the summer. The front door must be kept closed when the a/c is on!! The electric bill is astronomical in the summer, plus the house will be more comfortable if the system is allowed to work as it should.
This is my happy place. I love reading on the front porch, biking the back roads, and doing tai chi on the beach. When I get to Tybee I don't like to start up my car. I like to go everywhere by bike.
I spoke with the owner twice on the phone before booking this property. We also had several email conversations. We drove 900+ miles to enjoy the ocean in a "cozy cottage" only to be greeted by a slew of issues with the property from maintenance to cleanliness and issues with the people in the adjoining unit who smoked and were quite loud. We paid a $55 cleaning fee but the unit was FILTHY. Upon arrival, I opened the screen door to the porch only to find that it was literally broken in three pieces. When I mentioned it, the response was, "I know. I am sorry." The toilet and tub was so dirty; the kitchen floor had food and beverage spots all over it; the coffee maker had old grounds in it; the dishwasher was full of dishes; there was no top sheet on the bed; there were numerous burned out lights but no bulbs available to replace; a toilet that does not flush properly; a light fixture with a short; the list goes on and on. I took photos, cleaned some myself and didn't touch anything else. It is very close to the beautiful ocean but that was the only positive. Fortunately, after communicating with the owner about my disappointment, she fully refunded the cost of our stay. I am sad to say I will never return to Tybee Island again.
Our family of 5, plus a friend stayed at this home and were more than pleased! While it shares property and porch with another unit, nothing inside could be heard from the neighbors. We were able to meet the owner of the other unit upon arrival, and they were super sweet, lending us a high chair during our stay. The unit was clean, furnished with everything necessary (aside from towels and beach accessories...which we were made aware of upfront from the owner, allowing us to pack accordingly). The loft was perfect for our 9 and 6 year olds, and they loved having their own "treehouse." Plenty of space in the master for our pack&play. Walking distance was important to us, with an 11 month old in tow, and could not have been more perfect-close to the beach and the shops, without any of the downtown noise. And the bed porch swing was such a fun way to spend time outside but off the beach! The owner was very easy to work with, and conveyed every necessary detail well in advance. We will absolutely be back!
We stayed in this cute little duplex during our first visit to Tybee Island. It's a one story cottage divided into two private self-contained units with a shared screened-in front porch. It felt quiet and private in spite of another person "next door." We loved the location being so close to the South Beach area, shops and restaurants and enjoyed just hanging out. The rental is well stocked and has all the amenities you need except towels (bring your own). The pictures are a bit dated as the furniture is more worn than shown and upkeep with paint is needed. The owner is very easy to work with. We would stay again.
A wonderful little place to stay; so close to the main and back beaches. Well supplied with the essentials. Great owner who is easy to work with and responsive to questions (like when your reservation is less than a week after Hurricane Matthew and you wonder if you'll be able to go!). A great trip all around. We will be staying here from now on when we make our trip to Tybee.
Thank you for such a warm and welcome place to celebrate our anniversary. Your home is a delight, well stocked, clean, and pleasure to enjoy. Everything is nearby within walking distance. Leaving was the toughest part of our stay. Highly recommended :)
We came down for an extended weekend for our Anniversary. This was a great space! It's exactly as described, and close enough to all the fabulous restaurants. The beach is a very short walk.
We're on the historic South End of Tybee. Beach walks, surf and pier fishing, family friendly bike route, and walks down quiet streets all within a block. Shops, restaurants, and entertainment just around the corner. Any place on the island within 15 minutes by bike. Don't forget the Rails to Trail path adjacent to Fort Pulaski National Monument. Favorite restaurants are Sunday Cafe for lunch, North Beach Grill, and AJ's for the sunset view if you plan ahead and don't mind a wait.
