About Scott Gould
We started Androscoggin Home Rentals 20 years ago. We own and manage both of our waterfront properties in the Sunday River area. In 2005, we opened our Bed & Breakfast, Bethel Hill B&B. We enjoy people and love to provide a great Maine lodging experience for our clients. We live right here in Bethel, at our B&B, so you can be assured that you can easily reach us and get prompt answers to your questions and immediate help should you need it. Scott is a builder with an eye for quality workmanship, and Carol has a great sense of color and design. Together, we have designed and renovated some nice properties with great location. We keep them in excellent repair and update our linens and furnishings regularly. A clean house is very important to us and we can assure you that you won't be disappointed with our housekeeping! We want you to love your vacation!

Why Scott Gould chose Woodstock
In one word...Location! The Western Maine Mountains have the best of everything you would want for your vacation! Rural enough to feel like you got away from it all, but close to (almost) everything you need. The winter recreation here is world class. Sunday River Ski Resort with 8 peaks and 137 trails connected with a phenomenal lift system can have you skiing for days without seeing the same terrain twice. Black Mt and Mt Abram are both affordable family style ski areas that can stretch your vacation dollar. Other winter sports, from snow machining to ice fishing, dog sledding to Nordic skiing, winter hiking and snowshoeing can be done from our doorsteps. The summer in Maine is a special time, which is why our properties are located on waterfront. There is nothing like roasting a marshmallow over the campfire, the moonlight shimmering on the water, listening to the peepers and the loons. We are lucky enough to live here and happy to share our special lifestyle with you and your loved ones. Make some memories!

Lakefront Luxury in Maine!
We could not be happier with our stay at The Lake House! We wanted a long, relaxing weekend on a lake before our daughters started back to school. And, our experience definitely exceeded our expectations!
The description, of the house and amenities, is accurate, and the pictures are great, but they don't do it justice! It's even more beautiful than in the pictures. The house is gorgeous & immaculate. It has everything you could need and want in a lake house!
We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the gorgeous, private deck just to relax and take in the views. The outside fireplace was perfect as was the access to the kayaks & canoe to tool around the lake.
If you're looking for the perfect lakefront vacation, this house is for you! We cannot wait to stay here again!!
Thank you for your kind review. We would be very happy to have you as our guests another time. You know where to find us now.
Great little get away
The house was exactly as advertised. Scott was responsive when needed. The 5 star reviews speak for themselves. Thanks Scott.
Great immaculate lake house with plenty of room
Great space both inside and outside the lake house. The house was immaculate and nicely firnished. There is a large porch with comfortable chairs, and a nice dock for easy access to the lake .
We enjoyed swimming and kayaking on the lake. The water is quite clean and the pond is deep enough for good swimming. The yard was ideal for playing ball or relaxing on the hammock. The living room was cozy and the big TV was a plus for watching movies at night or on rainy days. There was enough room for our three grown sons and us to not feel crowded. They sleeped on the lower floor and had their own bathroom and door to the backyard facing the lake.
The internet connection was good and allowed some of us to do work a few hours each day.
The town was 15 min away by car for easy grocery shopping. Grafton notch SP was under 30 min away and easy commute.
The owners are very particular about protecting their furnitures and floors. A mat in front of the kitchen sink and a table cloth on the dining table would be helpful.
You can hear noise from cars and trucks on the road across the lake but not enough to spoil the experience. We did not use the grill to avoid the cleaning fee. Check out at 10 am is too early if we are expected to wash and dry a load of towel as the wash cycle is at least 50 min. The owner’s communication style is rather curt but not an issue.
Overall this is the nicest lake house we have been to in the past 10 summers in new hampshire, Vermont or Maine (and the most expensive). We could have easily enjoyed an other week there.
We are happy that you enjoyed our Lake House and hope you return. Thank you for your kind words and recommendations
fantastic private lakefront retreat
We had a wonderful 3 days here. The house is one of the nicest and well-equipped rental homes my family has ever stayed in. The architecture, the attention to detail, the furniture, everything was simply top-notch. The property is amazing because you are perched out at the tip of a small peninsula so you have 270* views of water, mountains, and trees. The kayaks and canoe are newer and in great shape which is a rarity at lake home rentals (usually you get junk equipment). The dock was in great shape which meant we didn't have to worry about splinters, kids tripping and falling in, etc. We enjoyed paddling out to the rock island to jump off the ledge and paddling around the island where the bald eagles lived. We used the incredible outdoor fireplace for s'mores night. We also made use of the cottage because we had a larger group and that was great. Having a half-bathroom our there made it possible for the in-laws to comfortably stay out there while we stayed in the main house with the early-rising kids and baby. I can strongly recommend Scott's house if it fits within your budget. The only downsides were if the wind was coming from the south it would carry the road noise across the water and it was quite loud, and from time to time there was a less-than-pleasant odor in the foyer and front steps of the house from the pumped sewage system when the tank was close to full before it pumped out (that's my guess as to what it was). Even with those negatives, we would absolutely love to stay here again in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. As you say there can be road noise if the wind is from the south. It is most often from the Northwest. The odor you refer to is from the gas hot water heater that vents off to the side of the main entrance. It is possible if the wind is from the right direction and the door is open that it could enter the foyer area briefly.
Well furnished and supplied place. Comfy beds, full kitchen, kayaks, grill just to name a few things. We spent breakfast and evenings on the deck looking out at the nice view and bald eagle next. Plenty of easy hikes nearby.
Great place, outstanding house and lake
