Hale a Kimo Kali Relax and Enjoy the Serenity

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Welcome to your own private Hawaiian paradise in this beloved home. The home was built in true Hawaiian style to take advantage of the trade winds East Hawaii is famous for. You will feel the abundant Aloha at Hale a Kimo Kali from the minute you walk in.

This lovely home, where you are surrounded by privacy, serenity and beauty, is good for the soul and the perfect place to spend your next holiday. You will be renting the whole home and it is ideally suited for individuals or two couples who are vacationing together.

The lanais, at the back of the house have comfortable seating, and provide beautiful views of the gardens. It's the perfect getaway, if you want to grab a book and read or enjoy your morning coffee and evening cocktails.

An expansive lush grass yard is great for outdoor play and private sunbathing. The yard is a tropical park with many palms and exotic plants all surrounded by Hawaiian jungle. There is a new gas bbq so you can dine outdoors, while you enjoy the beautifully landscaped yard.

The home offers high ceilings and ceiling fans, a flat screen TV in the living room and one in the downstairs suite. It is equipped with internet and WIFI. Cooks will love the kitchen, it is stocked with all the necessary amenities. The dining area is easily accessed from the kitchen and living area through French doors and has comfortable seating for six. From the dining area you have views to the gardens and access to the east facing lanai.

The main floor bedroom has a king size sleep number bed. There is also access to the east facing lanai from this bedroom. The upstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower.

The second bedroom suite is accessed from its own private entrance outside and down a few stairs. This bedroom has a king size bed, its own private lanai and bathroom with a tub/shower and access to the laundry room.

A few blocks out the front door is the Red Road, one of the most scenic and renowned drives in all of Hawaii, featuring black sand beaches, dense rainforest, and Ahalanui Park (a spring warmed by the volcano's steam). Along this 12 mile drive are a number of beach parks including Waiopae tidepools with some of the most incredible snorkeling on the island.

A short walk from Hale a Kimo Kali is Kehena Beach, a secluded (clothing optional) black sand beach hidden from view from the roadway. Enjoy yoga and many other classes offered at nearby Kalani Resort. Two miles away is Uncle Roberts, a night market, which hosts live music, food stalls, handcraft exhibitions, and a bazaar-style market every Wednesday night.

Nearby is Pahoa, an old mill town with a row of clapboard shops along a boardwalk, local restaurants and a bakery. During the weekend, the Pahoa Makuu Farmers Market features fresh fruit, roasted macadamia nuts, food stalls and local art.

A short drive is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village, a charming rainforest town known for its glass blowing and art galleries. The surrounding rainforest is in sharp contrast to the steam vents and rugged landscapes of the nearby park.

On Puna's Eastern point is the Cape Kumukahi area with scenic hiking. The air here is measured to be the freshest in the world. From Cape Kumukahi, hike a little over a mile along the 1960's lava flows to Kapoho Bay, a local swimming hole and beach geothermally heated by the Kilauea volcano.

Hale a Kimo Kali with it's authentic Hawaiian beauty is the perfect choice for your next Big Island vacation to live Aloha. For more information visit our website at -

My husband and I were thrilled with our stay, the accommodations and the thoughtfulness of this rental. We were greeted with a lovely card and cookies which was lovely. We very quickly realized that if you happen to have forgotten anything...from a toothbrush to shampoo to cooking spices - not to worry. We have rented properties that don't even offer salt and pepper which makes cooking difficult when you have to buy some of the most simple of things. This property is not like that at all.

The layout of the house is very fun and unique and 2 couples could easily stay and have as much privacy as you'd like.

The location of the property is a quick walk to the beach but it is a steep walk down to the water from the road in case one has mobility challenges. A simple drive will offer many whale watching opportunities and if you don't want to swim but wish to be near the ocean to sun yourself etc. there is no end to the clearings along the coast.

The property is very clean and tidy. We loved, loved the frog noises at night. If you were to try and mimic the sound it's like "bee-boo". There are no road noises, the neighbors are quiet and so all you hear is nature. It's lovely. We star gazed at night as there is no light pollution.

We would return to this property in a heart beat!

Tranquil hideaway with a chefs dream kitchen

  • 5 of 5

My spouse and I and our 6 month old son stayed in this beautiful vacation home and had a wonderful relaxing time! Firstly we arrived and found that there was a pack n play at the residence for our son to use (so helpful and thoughtful!). The kitchen had everything thing we needed to cook delicious meals in- and for sleepy new parents a state of the art coffee maker and coffee grinder allowing us to enjoy fresh Kona coffee first thing every morning. Reading on the front lanai in the mornings was very peaceful with the wind in the trees and relaxing in the shade of the back lanai in the afternoon heat was wonderful. The beach is a two minute walk away and very beautiful. Sleeping at night with the chirps of the coqui frogs is like having your own personal sound machine- very magical. And the bed!! So comfortable with the softest sheets imaginable. We loved uncle Roberts night market on Wednesday, Pahoa Fresh Fish and driving the scenic red road. Everything was well thought out and made our stay very relaxing.

We absolutely loved the house and quaint neighborhood. Just a couple blocks from the ocean in a very tranquil area. The southern part of the island has a lot to offer such as the volcano, cute little beaches and waterfalls. We found a couple of great restaurants in Hilo our favorite was Pineapples. Wednesday night go to uncle Roberts farmers market great experience great food live band. Mahalo 🌴

Great House

  • 4 of 5

This is a great house. Well appointed and comfortable. Jamie is very helpful and easy to work with. I loved being near the red road; it is an incredible drive. There are also great places to eat healthy meals not far away. The ocean is beautiful. The coqui frog did not bother us at all. Nature sounds never do. We would stay here again and recommend it.
