We rented the house from Richard for the past 3 summers. We feel like at home in this beautiful house! Our 2 littles princesses and us love everything about this place: the veranda to drink our morning coffee , the big gallery where the kids can run and play domino's outside with their grand father and father, the confortable living room in the evening, the big table to have wonderful diners (seafoods naturally!) and the little alcove beetween two of the three bedrooms upstairs. All of this made our 3 stays at this place one of our best summer vacations memories. The cleanliness of the house is perfect. The fact that it's so close to the beach was the main reason why we choose this house. And we were very satisfied of our choice: my husband took us by car to the beach drop zone, return to the house and came back by foot. Wondeful! And the GoodHarbor Beach is such a beatiful place. Richard is a very nice guy: it's always a pleasure to talk with him each year. If you want to go to Gloucester, you have to reserve this house!
This lovely turn of the century summer house was a wonderful vacation home for our family of adult children (7 of us in total). It is private, well equipped, clean and well maintained with lots of space both to be together and to be apart. Family dinners were terrific fun as we sat around the large dining room table swapping beach stories. Many an evening was spent on the wrap-around porch listening to the soothing sound of the waves. Good Harbour Beach is a short walk down the hill and easily accessible. Typically we would walk down with the gear but, at the end of the day, one of us would fetch the car so we didn't have to hike the chairs and umbrellas back up the hill. Our kids had a fun evening playing glo-in-the-dark frizbee on the beach (complete with glo-in-the-dark necklaces and bracelets). Some of us fished, some of us played golfed and some of us shopped (Off-Broadway Shoes and the Nordstrom Rack store in the Liberty Tree Mall can't be missed). We had great lobster from Intershell in Gloucester (as recommended by the owners). The owners were fabulous in ensuring we had everything we needed. They even told us about their traditonal summer supper of lobster and strawberry/rhubard pie. We emulated their tradition. It was terrific!
We fell in love with this cottage the moment we entered it. The cottage is very spacious though the photos are limited. The upstairs features four bedrooms - one with king size bed, one with queen bed - these adjoin by a sun room which can be opened and sea air rushes in! The back side of the house offers a smaller single bedroom and a bedroom with two twin beds. Though only one indoor bathroom, the whole family chose to shower everday outdoors under the sunshine! The porch is beautiful, the dining room a wonderful place for all family meals...we loved it and hope to return.
We rented this lovely and charming Gloucester home this summer and can't wait to return. This place has character and history and at the same time is clean, spacious, comfortable and easy for a family to make themselves at home. The rambling wrap around porch is a perfect place to start the day with coffee and end it with a glass of wine. It's an easy walk to Good Harbor Beach--an added bonus.
Our family of 6; two adults and 4 kids (4-10yrs) spent a week here in the summer of 2008. The cottage is rustic and charming with a lovely dining room, sitting room and living room. We enjoyed the wrap around porch and cable TV for a little late night relaxation. The cottage is only a 5 minute walk to Good Harbour beach; Amelia's restaurant is on the way to the beach, great food at reasonable prices, we picked up dinner several times on the walk back to the cottage. Good Harbour beach was nice for the kids, busy on the weekends; bring a wagon to cart your things along (I personally don't recommend biking because the roads are windy). There is a small island that you can walk to during low tide, watch out for the poison ivy there! We would return to the cottage and I would recommend it to friends!
Other Activities: Sea kayaking
