We spent a week at Richard's Gloucester house in July (2016). What a pleasure and privilege. I was so happy to learn that the house was located on the very street where three generations of my family had spent many summer days over the decades. The walk to the beach was one we already knew well! My immediate family rented the house but we used it as a place for area family and friends to gather. We spent hours on the beautiful porch from sun up until late at night and we took full advantage of the kitchen and dining room. (Love that sink!) As someone who grew up in old and historic homes, staying in this special house was like coming home. My children absolutely loved it and my entire family felt comfortable and nostalgic being there. The location was ideal for us--Good Harbor and Rockport, ice cream, clams, lobster rolls, Shaw's grocery store all nearby. Thank you Richard!
We had rented Richard's house 20 years ago.
After all those years, we found the property still as beautiful as then.
The house is spacious, comfortable and very clean. We loved the wrap-around veranda where we would have coffee in the morning and a glass of wine late in the afternoon.
The house is located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood and a short walk to Good Harbour Beach.
All in all, we had a very nice and relaxed stay.
We rented the house from Richard for the past 3 summers. We feel like at home in this beautiful house! Our 2 littles princesses and us love everything about this place: the veranda to drink our morning coffee , the big gallery where the kids can run and play domino's outside with their grand father and father, the confortable living room in the evening, the big table to have wonderful diners (seafoods naturally!) and the little alcove beetween two of the three bedrooms upstairs. All of this made our 3 stays at this place one of our best summer vacations memories. The cleanliness of the house is perfect. The fact that it's so close to the beach was the main reason why we choose this house. And we were very satisfied of our choice: my husband took us by car to the beach drop zone, return to the house and came back by foot. Wondeful! And the GoodHarbor Beach is such a beatiful place. Richard is a very nice guy: it's always a pleasure to talk with him each year. If you want to go to Gloucester, you have to reserve this house!
This lovely turn of the century summer house was a wonderful vacation home for our family of adult children (7 of us in total). It is private, well equipped, clean and well maintained with lots of space both to be together and to be apart. Family dinners were terrific fun as we sat around the large dining room table swapping beach stories. Many an evening was spent on the wrap-around porch listening to the soothing sound of the waves. Good Harbour Beach is a short walk down the hill and easily accessible. Typically we would walk down with the gear but, at the end of the day, one of us would fetch the car so we didn't have to hike the chairs and umbrellas back up the hill. Our kids had a fun evening playing glo-in-the-dark frizbee on the beach (complete with glo-in-the-dark necklaces and bracelets). Some of us fished, some of us played golfed and some of us shopped (Off-Broadway Shoes and the Nordstrom Rack store in the Liberty Tree Mall can't be missed). We had great lobster from Intershell in Gloucester (as recommended by the owners). The owners were fabulous in ensuring we had everything we needed. They even told us about their traditonal summer supper of lobster and strawberry/rhubard pie. We emulated their tradition. It was terrific!
We fell in love with this cottage the moment we entered it. The cottage is very spacious though the photos are limited. The upstairs features four bedrooms - one with king size bed, one with queen bed - these adjoin by a sun room which can be opened and sea air rushes in! The back side of the house offers a smaller single bedroom and a bedroom with two twin beds. Though only one indoor bathroom, the whole family chose to shower everday outdoors under the sunshine! The porch is beautiful, the dining room a wonderful place for all family meals...we loved it and hope to return.
We rented this lovely and charming Gloucester home this summer and can't wait to return. This place has character and history and at the same time is clean, spacious, comfortable and easy for a family to make themselves at home. The rambling wrap around porch is a perfect place to start the day with coffee and end it with a glass of wine. It's an easy walk to Good Harbor Beach--an added bonus.
