About Patti

We moved to the beach from Federal Way when we were in our 40's and the next thing we knew we are in our 60's! Time flies when you're having fun. I have been coming to this beautiful ocean location since I was a little girl and due to our careers, we were able to make our dream come true of living here after our children were raised. We built our guest apartment and home next door to my family's cabin which was built in 1957. Living here with the ocean right in front of us has been amazing. The wonderful guests we have had only make it richer.

Patti purchased this apartment in 1995

Why Patti chose Olympic Peninsula

You are right on the beach with your own private hot tub, patio, BBQ, fire pit and beautifully landscaped yard. My family found this slice of heaven when I was a little girl. I have loved it ever since. We built our beach house with guests in mind. Every amenity you can think of is here. Just bring your food and clothes and be ready to relax and be a beach bum.

What makes this apartment unique

Waking up to the pristine ocean with eagles, seagulls, pelicans, deer, fishing boats and activities on the beach with a cup of coffee will fill up your senses. Lounge in the living room, on the patio or in the hot tub or take a beach walk and enjoy the outdoor heated shower when you come off the beach. Walk to the nearby town of Pacific Beach for an espresso and shopping, head north to the Moclips River or head east to the unspoiled forests. Did I mention the incredible winter storms?

Guestbook comments from the owner

We went to The Beach Bum Inn/106356 for a week, had a wonderful time. Recommend this unit and locatioin to anyone looking for a quiet spot with long walks on the beach and a hot tub. Good dining is not far away either.

Cozy, quiet and perfect beach view find!

  • 5 of 5

Spent two nights at the Beach Bum Inn. It's a very cozy, clean, roomy rare find on the beach in Moclips. There was one bedroom w/queen bed, couch that made into queen-size bed & fully equipped kitchen. Loved the gas fireplace that added to the coziness. We had wind, rain, sun & snow during our stay - even got a walk on the beach when the sun came out for a brief time. Didn't meet the owners, Patti & Jim, they truly give you privacy but left good instructions for everything. Also has hot tub for private use but we chose not to in the crazy weather but maybe next time - we will go again (the girls from Olympia)!

Very relaxing. The bed was very comfortable which was great since we were both fighting colds.

Perfect ocean front getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for three nights over Presidents Day weekend. The day we arrived we just made it in time to crack open a bottle of Champagne and savor the sunset, which was extraordinary as we literally walked out the door and the ocean is right there in front of you! The next few days were overcast with some drizzle and some pouring down rain. BUT.. we were not discouraged at all. Inside the home there is a cozy propane wood stove, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hot tub is right outside the door and you can see and hear the ocean while sitting in the hot tub. The sofa bed is the most comfortable sofa bed we've ever slept on. There is a bedroom but we mostly slept in the sofa bed. The home was immaculately clean and everything was in good working order. We had all of the kitchen utensils we needed. We took advantage of use of the garage refrigerator/freezer to chill our Champagne in. The small refrigerator in the kitchen easily fit all of our food. Prior to our visit I had to communicate with Patti and she was very prompt in her reply to me as well as very kind and professional in her communication. I appreciated that very much. We would definitely return!

I think it's one of the cleanest homes we've ever stayed on the water

  • 4 of 5

Although we experienced a power outage and even the pilot light on the gas stove went out, nobody upstairs came to check on us or offered a discount. Other than that, I've stayed at a few cabins/cottages on the water in the past and this was by far the nicest.

Owner's Response: If you were experiencing problems during the storm, all you had to do was come upstairs and let us know. We make a point to respect your privacy and since we equip the suite with flashlights, heat and cooking, unless we know we don't interfere. The way the wind was blowing I doubt though that we could have started the pilot light on the fireplace until the storm was over. We cannot offer discounts for acts of nature/ocean storms and power outages are quite common during them. You wanted a winter storm and you sure got one!

Beach bum Inn

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed my stay at the beach bum Inn.

It was very clean and cozy. It was nice being able to sit in the frontroom watching the ocean. It was a very stormy couple days so I didn't get chance to enjoy the hot tub.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed yourself Debbie! Maybe another trip to the Beach Bum Inn during a milder time of the year will give you a chance to relax in the hot tub and watch the beach. We would love to have you again.

The location is superb with no exception and it is what makes this the place ideal stay.

  • 4 of 5

Quiet, beautiful and cozy. Friendly owners willing to help. Kept well and stocked with all basics that you need. If you are staying more than a weekend, bring a cooler as the frig is an under counter and no freezer space except for ice cubes. There is no clothing closet space and very few hooks for hanging clothes on so be aware when you pack. The only negative is the bed. Springs that creek and to aging bodies too soft or broken down to support a good nights sleep. We'd love to stay a week in the summer if it weren't for the bed. The hot tub very clean and hot. We only used it once without the jets on but it was still fantastic. It's sweet. Enjoy if you decide to stay here.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay but I have to comment on some things mentioned. When I send out directions I ask if you would like additional frig space. There is a freezer and frig space in the adjoining garage. Once I know you need it, the garage door is left unlocked for easy access. I have found that different people like different beds. We just had a review where our guests loved it. Sorry it was uncomfortable for you. The mattress is close to new. Why didn't you use the jets for the hot tub? They work just fine. There is an armoire outside the bedroom door with space for hanging clothes and hangers. There are drawers right below it. I am sorry you were not aware of all this. Thank you for taking the time to review. These things were available for you. I wish you had asked.
