Welcome to Big Buck Retreat! Fall in The North Georgia Mountains is fun for everyone! As owners of this peaceful getaway, we believe in making our home an affordable family getaway. Our rate of $120 a night (less if a week or more) plus a $85 makes our home a wise choice for families. Escape to the gorgeous North Georgia Mountains to a relaxed, very private environment, situated 15-20 minutes from shopping and recreation in the quaint little town of Ellijay, Georgia. Just an hour and a half drive from metro Atlanta, Chattanooga and the Tennessee-North Carolina border is our elegant mountain top retreat, professionally decorated, furnished with top of the line furniture and linens and enhanced with all the amenities of home. The 180 degree view from the back porch and patio is simply breathtaking. Overlooking the Chattahoochee National Forest and Carters Lake, this tranquil environment is the perfect spot to relax and recharge. Our 3 bedroom home (Master on Main, Queen and 2 Bunk Beds on lower level) is up on top of Big Buck mountain with lots of privacy and even a flat backyard for horse shoes and bocce, not to mention evenings spent around the stacked stone firepit. It is a home to relax, unplug and unwind. At the bottom of the mountain there is a stocked fishing pond too. It is a home to make some family memories. Check out our REVIEWS!! There is so much fun to be had in Ellijay or "LJ" as we call it! We love apple picking (Red Apple Barn is our fav), going to the pumpkin farm and checking out all the Fall festivals. Carters Lake is nearby as are many areas for hiking, apple picking, canoeing, rafting, mountain biking, gem mining, antiquing and more! NOTE: The drive up the mountain is about 2 miles (7-8 minutes) with ups and downs on a gravel road. We are used to the drive and think nothing of it, but for first timers, it can be a bit daunting. FWD is recommended, however, my infiniti qx60 makes it up just fine. Please see the video section for a look at the road up the mountain. Keywords: House

                                                            Amazing last minute getaway trip!

We appreciate Heather working with us at the last minute to book this wonderful home with the most amazing vista. The house was nicely decorated and fully stocked with anything you might need. We ate 100% of our meals here and the kitchen was well stocked and the gas grill worked nicely. We spent most of our time on the back deck soaking in the views and watching the humming birds buzz around and the play of the sun and clouds on the view below. We needed a respite from everyday responsibilities and this home and the views was the perfect medicine. We only spend 2 1/2 days here but went home well rested and refreshed. We highly recommend this home!

                                                            Great Stay Just Before Thanksgiving

This is our 2nd week long stay at Big Buck Mountain Retreat (first one in April & this one in Nov.) on Brushy Top Mtn and we thoroughly enjoyed it again. The colorful Fall leaves made the astounding 7-8 layer mountain and Carter Lake views even more spectacular. The home itself is very welcoming, spacious, and comfortable. We recommend this property to anyone wishing to relax, enjoy the seemingly ever changing views including magnificent star views on cloudless nights. We enjoyed breathing in the fresh, crisp mountain air, walking the mountain roads and getting away from the hustle and stresses of daily life. We explored the alternate driving route up to the property taking Morton Rd to intersection of Brushy Top Mountain Rd (not far from property) and found it to be a little shorter and a bit steeper but not quite as curvy but either way is OK. Among the many outdoors adventures available includes the Carter Lake parks w hiking trails and boat launches - one is only a couple of miles from Big Buck Mountain entrance heading east on right side of Hwy 76 back toward E. Ellijay. It features a beautiful 1 mile trail to a footbridge across Tails Creek Falls. Negotiating this trail is not difficult and the scenery is well worth it. The cabin is also well stocked with pretty much every need including kitchen items, paper goods, etc. It is so easy to just relax and enjoy the unbelievable view and the surrounding area. It is absolutely the best getaway we have experienced. Again, our visit was outstanding and we will definitely go back again ! Royal Brown and Glynnda White - "The Tans"

Great View - Perfect Family Retreat!

This is a lovely house with all the comforts of home! The view is fabulous and it is close to downtown Ellijay and all the activities we wanted to do. We didn't even miss WiFi, even with 4 teenagers and 1 pre-teen in the house. As others have mentioned, the road to the house is an "off-the-beaten-path" drive, but completely doable in my FWD vehicle. I would highly recommend getting there during the daylight hours if you are not accustomed to driving on narrow, windy mountain roads - we arrived after dark and it was quite the adventure getting up the road! - It was much easier in the daylight. We would definitely book again if we ever find ourselves heading back to Ellijay.

The view is the thing here, but the house is well appointed and very clean. Very relaxing.

My husband and I were shocked that this house wasn't already taken the first week of fall. The weather is perfect, and the views are fantastic from the porch because some of the leaves are already changing. It was perfect fire building weather, and the apple houses were getting their season going in Ellijay. The house itself is very nice and very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies which you will need because it's best to settle in and cook your own meals due to the ride up and down the mountain. We brought everything we needed with us to minimize the trips up and down. You will also need to bring firewood if you plan on using the fire pit or fireplace. In regards to the trip, just make sure that you have a car with decent tires, plenty of gas, and make the trip during the day. We have a Ford Escape, not FWD, and we went slow and had no issues. I'm from this area and love all of the outdoor things available here, regardless of the season. This house is perfectly located between Ellijay and Chatsworth with close access to trails, short and long, water, and just even great drives through the mountains. We will return to this property in the future.

                                                            Great family home

This place is a bit remote, but perfect for me. Once you arrive everything you could possible need is there. Beautiful.

                                                            Beautiful view on the mountain!

We loved the house! It was beautiful and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the view was magnificent. We enjoyed the fire pit. The kids loves the corn hole game and the media room. The view was so beautiful from the porch. We drive was definitely an adventure up the mountain. Follow the directions closely and don't go off the trail or you might get stuck. We definitely had to park in the lower driveway but it was so close to the house that it didn't matter. We definitely tried to be home before dark. We would not of wanted to drive up the mountain in the dark. Once you are at the house, it is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had a great time .The view was so relaxing.
