About Cyd Quarterman
We are college professors that are empty nesting. Our two boys have left us twiddling our thumbs. So we are looking for things to do. We love travelling and have appreciated staying in the homes of our hosts. We are ready to return the favor and want to share our little slice of paradise in the foothills of Georgia.
Why Cyd Quarterman chose Toccoa
The guesthouse was remodeled for Cyd's mother who needed it to be handicapped accessible. She moved back to Wisconsin and it sits empty waiting for people to enjoy the views, the wildlife and in season, our fruit. The Cottage on Flat Rock Farm is a conundrum of sorts. While situated on 25 acres of farm hills and trails, it is a short walk away from historic downtown Toccoa. Therefore the Cottage is positioned in the perfect place for seclusion with a little town and all its amenities around the corner. The Cottage guesthouse sits on a ridge looking over the foothills with no neighbors near by.
What makes this Guest House unique
Beautiful views especially in the Autumn. Industrial farmhouse decor. Blueberries, cherry trees, pear trees, figs, walnut and pecan trees, and several different varieties of grapevines. Both the screened porch and back porch are secluded. Large unique fire pit with log furniture. Homemade granola, yogurt, fruit, coffees and teas are provided for breakfast. Apart from the kitchen, this facility and especially the ensuite has been designed to be handicapped accessible. Guests desiring handicapped accessible accommodations need to request this option specifically.

Overall, a great experience. The back patio was a great spot to relax. Lovely views. Nice touches like binoculars in one of the bins. Accent lighting added to the ambience once it got dark. One big complaint is the lack of Wi-Fi. Oh, also we were disappointed to not be able to find the homemade granola touted in the listing. We look forward to a chance to rent this property again in the future.
Beautiful and cozy
We rented the OB for 2 nights at the end of May. Cyd was a wonderful host and promptly answered questions, and was full of information. The OB is located close to everything in Toccoa, and nestled into a quiet and scenic area. The OB was comfortable and very clean. Coffee, granola and farm fresh eggs were waiting for us upon check in. The back porch is the perfect place to enjoy your morning cuppa, and enjoy the amazing view. We enjoyed our stay immensely and I plan to return with my family or for a girls weekend.
Beautiful and relaxing!
We loved the cute cottage with sooo many cute extras. So cutely decorated- The pictures do not do it justice! Relaxing and cozy. Hope to go again!
Most peaceful stay we have had in the longest time ❤️
As i sit here drinking my second cup of coffee on the back porch on this chilly Sunday morning (complete with binoculars for bird watching), I can’t help but be eternally grateful for this moment in solitude and quiet in this beautiful cabin. Cyd has prepared the most beautiful of places to stay and we are already planning our next trip back. The entire home was beautiful, comfortable, impeccably designed, and we immediately felt like we were at home when we walked in. If you’re ever in the Toccoa area exploring the trails, you have to stay here ❤️❤️❤️
I generally don’t comment on properties but this one had so many extra little touches that made our trip easier and more enjoyeable. The owners are wonderful and very available. Will definitely be back
This was our second time here, and just as good as the first time! If you are looking for a serene, comfy getaway, this is the place for you! Owners are great, and provide your every need! Until next time...
We are 1 mile from historic downtown Toccoa where there are restaurants, bars, a museum and antique shops. We are located 45 minutes from Helen, two minutes from Toccoa Falls (taller than Niagra falls) and close to numerous wineries, hiking trails, state and local parks. Tallulah Gorge is 20 minutes away, Brass town Bald is 40 minutes away, and Panther Creek Trail is 15 minutes away. Within an hour of the Cottage, there are 40 waterfalls and numerous hiking trails. We are at the mecca of Northeast Georgia's outdoor paradise.
